Start a Fight

King Hans of Rubicund was entering the royal parlour to meet another foreign envoy from the Kingdom of Smaragd, forgetting that the envoy had asked to meet the king the next day. He then remembered it was scheduled tomorrow and turned to leave that's when he noticed his wife quietly drinking tea and reading a book. He had not realised she was there and she had not heard him step into the parlour. He must have been so deep in his thoughts and she was so immersed in her book, that they did not realise they were in the same parlour.

"My darling what brings you here, this evening?"

Queen Elesha looked up from her book and smiled when she saw her husband.

"I've deployed a maidservant to help me search out who orchestrated my supposed poisoning and why."

"A spy? That's rather dangerous one false move and we could have war on our hands again."

"I suppose so but I believe in her that she will find something if not at least a clue."

"You did all of this without consulting me?" King Hans asked now a little agitated at not being informed of her decision.

"I didn't mean to I was going to tell you."

"When? After you positioned her, where is she posted may I ask or am I not supposed to know."

"She's been posted in Blau," said Queen Elesha softly not liking the tone in which her husband was questioning her.

"Our neighbour? Why would you suspect them? We're allies for godsake, Elesha you should have thought this a little bit more through and informed me before making such a decision."

"I did what had to be done, I need to find the killer while the trail of clues may still be fresh, and if we waited anymore, more clues could have disappeared along the way. Besides, this does not concern you, it concerns myself and my sister, she was posioned I can't sit back and do nothing."

"Not my concern? I am your husband, you are my wife a threat to your life is a threat to mine. We just took our vows, or have you forgotten?"

"I have not but I don't understand why you're still so angry with me over this small matter you act as though I've declared war on your ally instead of sending a maidservant just to do some snooping about."

"I cannot afford another war, Elesha, the war with your nation has bled my people dry figuratively and literally in every sense of the word."

"Neither can the Kingdom of Weiss, we are more than allies now we are united through marriage."

Then softly she asked looking at him, "when will you stop seeing me as your enemy?"

"The day you stop hiding things from me and let me know what you intend to do before actually doing it when it concerns my court."

"So you're angry about the tea ceremony as well then?"

"That is different and you know it I meant anything politically related like this."

"Technically speaking it has not become a political issue yet as we don't know the identity of the killer, we don't know if it's just a personal agenda or if there's more to this than meets the eye. Whichever way it is from now on I will inform of you of my plans before doing anything that you might resent me for."

"Very well," King Hans replied wearily the fight slowly leaving his tense shoulders.

"I just don't want you to accidentally do anything that could jeopardize this new found peace we have between our nations."

"I won't," assured Queen Elesha softly.

She walked up to her husband and interlaced both her hands with his saying, "I promise to solve everything that comes across our way in peace without adding more to the bloodshed that has already taken place before we came together."

"I will do the same," promised King Hans as he kissed his wife on the forehead.

"You are leaving me alone again tonight?"

"I have friends I would like to meet and spend some time with it's been ages since I've spoken to them, will be up till late, replied King Hans before leaving the parlour.
