"Mrs. Cheng, what are you doing? I thought you were on your five year anniversary with your husband," Mingxi said when Evelyn buckled herself in ignoring her question.
"Drive to my house. Step on it." Evelyn barked. She knew she was snapping at Mingxi who didn't deserve it, but she couldn't help it. Evelyn couldn't deal with this. She couldn't answer questions right now.
Mingxi was dressed in her usual slacks and form fitting button down shirt. This was the way she preferred to dress and she was ecstatic when Evelyn had hired her for the position. Mingxi wore a light amount of make up on her face and eyes. She also had a pale shade of lipstick on.
"Okay," Mingxi said pressing her lips together. Mingxi seemed to read her boss's mood and sped toward her house. They rode in silence and Evelyn welcomed it. She had to breathe deeply to stay calm.
The scenery rushed passed them but Evelyn didn't turn to admire it. All her strength was poured into not breaking down. She had a half-ass plan and was basically making it up as she went.
First things first, get her documents out of that house. Grab her stuff and find accommodations for tonight, then go to Uncle Wai's law firm.
She could have let it go and simply signed the divorce papers but she didn't. She was entitled to 17.5 percent of his shares.
Over the years she got pregnant a couple times. Each time she had run to him with her happy news. But each time, before she could make it to at least three months, she suffered a miscarriage.
What he didn't know was that she got pregnant a third time. She didn't want to tell him until the baby made it through to the second trimester. When she made it, he was away on a business trip.
When he had gotten back they had so many projects at work that she didn't have the opportunity to tell him. Evelyn was going to tell him tonight. But now she was going to use that information against him.
With each passing thought, her face grew darker. She knew their relationship wasn't as lovey dovey as it once was but she believed that they were just busy. The company was dealing with many deals at the moment that required long hours of negotiations and preparation.
The fifteen minutes that it took for Mingxi to drive them to her house passed quickly and before long Mingxi parked in front of the house.
When they arrived they were greeted by Butler Chu. He ordered the gates to be opened and he met them at the gates.
Butler Chu was in his early sixties and was hired by the Chengs five years ago. He was always dressed in his polished black suit and tie, with a white button down shirt.
"Mrs. Cheng," Butler Chu said as he bowed. Evelyn had long since told him to dispose of the formality but he insisted. He did however take note of her kindness to him and the staff. She never really ordered them around. She more often asked. It gave the servants and staff a sense of dignity and they appreciated their Young Mistress for it.
"Butler Chu, I need you to prepare four large suitcases." Evelyn said. Before giving him any time to ask questions Evelyn quickly walked to the house. She quickly changed her shoes at the door as she knew Butler Chu was a stickler about walking around the house without clean shoes.
She called over her shoulder for Mingxi to follow her. Mingxi had to run to catch up with her boss.
