CHAPTER 78: Just Like Fifi

"Giving to me?" Saphira asked looking at Reginald.

"Yes, as the commander and as part of the group, you will need a beast in order to become stronger."

"Then can I see it now?"

Asherton furrowed his brows, she seemed alright with the decision but it seemed that she was not as well.

Reginald agreed and all eight of them went down to the lowest underground of the palace.

After taking the last step, a humongous prison cell welcomed them.

When Saphira walked closer the one inside opened its eyes.

Red Orange eyes with burning desire to kill was what she could see.

"Ah, I can somehow see myself in you. After being imprisoned and knowing what they will do. You must hate us right now," she said remembering her rampage two days ago.

She knew her eyes looked the same as this one, if not even more cold and angrier.

*SCREECH*

The bird screeched, it's like a dog growling at the person in front of it. Ready to fight no matter what.

Saphira smiled before looking back at the heads.

"This bird is mine now right?"

Reginald furrowed his brows, "Yes, that would be correct."

"Then..."

*BOOM*

They were all shocked when she suddenly destroyed the railings of the prison cell.

"With this you are capable of leaving right?" she asked the bird inside.

The railings were incorporated with magic that restrains the power of the bird to leave.

The bird squinted its eyes towards her.

"Don't worry, I am not planning anything. They gave you to me then you are mine. My decision is to let you go, that's just it."

"Sa- Saphira?" Asherton spoke.

Saphira faced them, "It's fine grandfather, it's fine."

She had on a very sad look in her eyes before stepping back from the cell in order to give the bird a way to step out.

Very slowly the humongous bird stepped out of the cell.

"Indeed you really are beautiful, just like Fifi."

It was a phoenix.

The phoenix was looking at all of them with caution.

"I am sorry, your majesty. I can't accept this bird but since it is to be given to me, this is my wish," she looked at Reginald with guilt and pain in her eyes.

Reginald was obviously shock at this sudden turn of events but what shocked him most was the way she apologized.

She was sincerely apologizing for letting them down and for allowing the bird to leave.

"I had promised Fifi, that if I meet another phoenix and knowing the the phoneix will become an accompanying beast. I will do everything to stop it. That was her dying wish."

They can see that the only missing thing in her current face were tears.

She looks like she was crying at the same time there were no tears.

"Go on now, and I wish you won't be captured again by anyone else. That way I can really fulfill my promise to Fifi."

The Phoenix stared at her and seeing her genuine look, it opened its beak.

"Why? Who is this Fifi for you to make me escape?"

The heads and Saphira was shock.

Only the highest among the beasts could actually speak.

This means that this phoenix is second only to the mythologiucal beasts right now.

The heads didn't expect that they actually captured such a strong beast.

No wonder the seven of them had difficulties in capturing it, even though they were already seven in number.

Their first thought of it being a second tier beast was wrong.

Beasts can be catergorized as first tier, second tier and third tier.

After this three tier would be level one through level five.

Level one being the weakest.

Mythological beasts are among those that are higher than the first tier.

More like the zeroth tier, strongest among the beasts, kings of the elements they hold.

Third tiers are those that can lead the other beasts their sizes couldn't be altered.

Second tiers are those that can change their size but are originally giants, their sizes getting bigger also means that their strengths are multiplying.

First tiers are those that can speak together with what the second and third tiers could do.

The Phoenix in front of them is considered to be a first tier.

"Fifi is a phoenix just like you are. A dear friend that lost her life," as she spoke melancholy was visible in her eyes.

The phoenix growled, "Dear friend? You must have used her as a shield."

Saphira looked up to it, looking straight in its eyes, "I never wanted her to be shield or did I ever want her to die. That is one thing I had wished I could have done something about, to protect her as well."

The phoenix wanted to rebuke that it was all a lie but its instinct tells it that it was nothing but the truth.

"Go on now, free yourself from this dark place. I wish you will live the way you wanted to."

The phoenix opened its mouth to say something but chose not to.

It will not thank this human.

It was the humans who imprisoned it.

It will not thank any human.

It changed its body size and flew away. Flew up from that underground dungeon.

Saphira faced the heads once again, she can see that they are against what she had done.

She smiled, "I haven't told you, have I?"

They became confused by her sudden words.

"The reason I lost my cool when I found out what Esther was trying to do."

"No..."

Those words are enough for Asherton to realize what had happened.

He took a step back while shaking his head.

"No."

Saphira smiled sadly towards him, "Yes, grandfather."

Reginald was a beat slower to understand but soon realized it as well.

After him were the rest of the heads.

They felt their whole body turn cold at the thought of that terrifying truth.

Saphira extended one of her arms to side and fire came out of her chest flying above their heads.

Her hair turned redder together with her eyes.

It was as if what she had a while ago was but a disguise.
