Saphira, who was looking up at the plaque, looked back at him, "Will it be a believable story?"
"I think Hunter would have believed you. I know he will," he replied.
"He will but then his judgment towards others would change. He can act normally with me but what about the others? He can throw away their friendship and I am sure it wouldn't take long for the rest to wonder just what it is that bothers him."
She looked at him in all seriousness, "Then even they would start to wonder about what it is that was going on. Discord will soon blossom in this and that is something we can't have now."
Because things wouldn't be so simple if that is to happen.
The story wouldn't be believable to others.
What then?
It will be her who will suffer in the end.
A story can only be believed entirely once a proof weas given.
And the greatest proof will be...
"And even if you have that ability I'm sorry but I will have to decline."
His ability was Memory Reread.
A rare ability that could allow others to see the true memory of the one being read.
He has this ability but he didn't use it on her. Her eyes back then were determined and clear, he can tell that what she said were all the truth.
At the same time, Memory Reread makes the one being read to experience everything all over again on that particular memory they will reread.
Back then, he really can't have that, done on her. She was young and everything was too fresh. That is why he had believed her through his experience with people.
She looked at him straight in the eyes, "If you are to order it with the pressure applied by the people around you. I will not accept your order of memory reread. Even if I am charged with treason."
Reginald was obviously shock at what she was saying now and even more shock at how determined she is.
Her eyes glazed offer, "If I were to experience that again, then I'd rather die."
What she added made him shudder instead, he could only stare at her, "What if it happens in one of your missions?"
He is the Emperor and she understood where this question came from.
So with all respect and with the dignity of the knight, she faced him.
"Then I will promise you one thing your majesty..."
*****
They stood their for a good while before Reginald remembered something.
"I have heard that you were bullied there."
Saphira looked at him abruptly, "I told Hunter not to tell you that."
"So it was true, and it wasn't Hunter who told me that. I received a letter apologizing for the act that happened," he answered.
She pursed her lips, she told Hunter not to say anything but it was her who still gave the truth away.
"I should probably call for those people," his eyes were sharp and his aura became dangerous.
This was the other person who would be mad if he were to find out about how she was treated.
He only had two sons that she, who loves coming for the library in the palace, became a constant companion to him, who also uses his free time to read books.
She became a daughter like figure to him and the Empress.
"Oh you can stop me but I don't think you can stop Felissa," Reginald looked at her seriously.
He noticed that she was pondering over how to stop him.
She can do it in so many ways but if it were Felissa.
Felissa would surely not fall for it.
She would surely do everything in her power to ensure that those people would be punished.
"You have no idea what I received when she found out that I made a mistake when I sent you in a wrong place," he once again said.
She could only puff her cheeks at the information.
She really won't be able to stop Felissa, she can only pray for those people to survive the remainder of their lives.
At the same time, she could imagine the punishment Reginald received from Felissa.
The two of them loved each other dearly and the Emperor dotes a lot on his wife.
With how smitten he was, simply being ignored by the Empress was enough to make him cry.
"But to think that you were really bullied, I wonder what your grandfather will do," Reginald once again said as she was having these thoughts.
She was instantly pulled back to reality upon the mention of her grandfather.
"Please don't tell my family, it would surely be an earful once they find out. How I should have been the boss all along," she put her hand on her forehead at the thought of this.
Reginald laughed.
They would indeed be mad but surely she would be reprimanded for not fighting back the moment they started bullying her.
The reason she was someone who always gets mad back when they were children was because of the way her family raised her.
But after what had happened and after she was left alone for so long.
Things have already changed that she would rarely get mad when people are to hurt her or insult her.
There is one fact that didn't change though.
Her anger when one of her friends are hurt by other people.
That is one thing that didn't change on her.
They can hurt her but not those who are important to her.
"Very well, I won't speak about it. But I must say, for your age. You surely have matured a lot," he commented.
"I've been hearing that a lot," she scratched her cheek.
Both of them returned their eyes on the plaque.
"Eight years have gone by so fast," he sighed.
"Fearing for your old age?" she teased.
She ended up being hit in the head with her teasing.
This was a habit he had that somehow Hunter got as well.
Every time she teases or be nonchalant over something important, she would be hit at the back of her head.
Of course, it wasn't strong.
"Back to being childish, I see," he shook his head.
Saphira also sighed, "Time can never be returned. No matter what regret we have. No matter what we feel, it will never return. All we can do is live in the present and do better for the future."
