30. Murderer

Indra goes to school with his little brother as usual. He drops Rama in Grade School before going to his school. Their schools are close, so they just walk to the schools.

But on the way to his school after dropping Rama off, Indra encounters a disturbing scene. A lot of people and police are gathering near a bridge. He doesn't want to stop, but he hears something very disturbing.

Apparently, they found a dead body near that bridge. The victim is a man who seems to be in his 30s, but they still don't know his identity. He was found tied in a sack with different kinds of wounds and a piece of monster core is inserted into the wound on his chest.

Normal people don't have access to monster cores, so it's clear that the culprit is a hunter who raids dungeons. Indra's strong hearing catches the policemen saying this is the 3rd case. So this hunter has killed 2 people before this and most likely will kill more.

But what irks Indra is that the police suspect it to be the doing of the mysterious hunter who raided dungeons without permission. In other words, they suspect him to be the murderer. They also suspect it to be the doing of a legal hunter, but the mysterious hunter is more suspicious.

'Seems like this murderer wanted to show that he is a hunter. Probably wanted to challenge the police to find his identity and if they even dare to try. But his action makes people think I am the culprit even though I've just known about this. Damn bastard! I'll find you and kill you myself.'

Well, instead of being pissed to be suspected as the culprit, Indra is actually more worried about his family's safety. This happens near his house and the murderer can target his family. He needs to remove this threat before it can harm his family.

Indra decides to stay at home that night and not raid a dungeon. It's time to use the skill he got when he becomes level 90, the Clone skill. His clones will be much weaker than him, but he doesn't send them to fight, so it's not a problem.

Before using the Clone skill, Indra uses the Shape Shifting skill to change his appearance into a middle-aged man. So when he uses the Clone skill, his clones have the appearance of the middle-aged man, not his real appearance.

Each clone costs 10,000 MP, so he can only make 11 as he has 119,600 MP. But he only makes 10 and saves the remaining MP for emergencies. Then he sends his 10 clones out of his house to move around the city.

'It will be hard to find 1 person in this city with just 10 clones. Jin Woo could do this easily with his many summons, but I only have a few clones and their power is still low. Still, it's much better than moving alone. At least it's 10 times more effective and I can stay at home to make sure my family is safe.'

Of course, Indra doesn't think he can find the murderer immediately. His clones patrol all night and don't find anyone who can be suspected as the murderer. But they managed to find some thugs trying to steal or rob things and stop them.

'I hope I couldn't find him because he didn't kill anyone last night. I'll send my clones to patrol the city again tonight and I hope I can find him before he kills anyone."

That night, Indra's clones fail to find the murderer and someone gets murdered again. The victim is an old man and the murder location is far from the previous one. It was in a place that wasn't checked by Indra's clones.

'Sigh, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. The city is too wide for 10 clones to cover and there are many awakeners. It's not like I can check every awakener in this city to find the culprit too.'

For the next few days, Indra focuses on finding the murderer. He still raids dungeons though, or to be exact, his clones are raiding dungeons. He sends 2 clones to raid E-Rank dungeons while the other 8 keep searching for the murderer.

His clones have the stats of E-Rank hunters, but their skills are much higher, so 2 of them can clear an E-Rank dungeon. Sending them to raid dungeons will increase his Clone skill level and also show people that he still raids dungeons, so he shouldn't be the murderer because he is busy clearing dungeons.

But even after a week, Indra still can't find the murderer. This murderer is very smart that even the detectives can't find enough clues to find his identity even after quite a lot of time has passed. If this goes on, then more people will fall victim to this murderer.

Indra is frustrated because he has done quite a lot to stop this mad hunter. Sure, it's not his job to find a criminal, but he has been too invested in this. Just thinking of letting this guy lurking in his city and endangering his family is enough to make him restless all day.

But eventually, the murderer runs out of luck. When one of Indra's clones is walking around the main street, he feels someone following him. So he leads the stalker to a small walkway and after a while, he really gets attacked.

The stalker used a piece of cloth soaked in chloroform and put it on the clone's nose to make him faint. Of course, such a thing can't make him faint. After all, the clone isn't a living being, but a being made of mana, so this chemical doesn't work on him.

Even so, he pretends to get affected and fakes his fainting. The attacker lifts him and quickly leaves the location. This attacker is actually a B-Rank hunter and can jump onto the rooftop easily before running from roof to roof.

They finally arrive at a pretty big house and enter through the back door. Indra's clone is brought to a rather dark room on the 2nd floor. He's put on the floor before being tied and hanged upside down. Then the attacker leaves the room.

After a while, the attacker returns and Indra's clone is already 'awake'. He can't talk with his mouth tied and he can only look around 'fearfully'. Then he looks at the one who attacked him which actually is a woman.

"So you've finally awoken, huh? You must be scared, darling. It's okay, be scared. I'm going to hurt you, after all."

The woman smiles and laughs like a maniac as she approaches Indra's clone.

"I will open the cloth on your mouth so you can scream later. It's more enjoyable if you scream when I torture you, after all. But don't worry. Your scream won't be heard out of this room. This room is soundproof, so you can scream as loud as you can, HAHAHA!"

Indra's clones can see the room is fully covered with soundproof materials. There's no window here and even the door is covered. Then he sees dried blood below him that must've originated from the previous victims.

"Ah~, that look, I know it very well. You must've wanted to ask why I do this, right? Fufufu, the others also have the same expression and I always answer them. At least you need to know why you will die, right? Fufufu!"

Indra's clone is 'scared' now and the woman is smiling like a yandere pervert instead.

"You know, I was abused as a child and even raped many times by my uncle who was supposed to take care of me after my parents' death. No one helped me even after years passed. My uncle then fell ill and couldn't do anything. People told me I needed to take care of him, but why should I? Still, I 'take care' of him. I made sure he was alive for years and received my 'love'. Too bad he died 2 months ago."

From her speech, Indra's clone knows this woman was taking revenge on her sick uncle very coldly. She must have done a lot of things to make sure he suffered but also made sure he stayed alive. Indra won't blame that, but then she started killing innocents after her uncle died and that is utterly wrong.

"Do you want to know why I killed those people and now you? That's because you guys look like my uncle and I detest it so much."

All the victims have something in common. They all have harelips. That's why Indra also made his clones like that to lure the murderer and it worked. Now he knows that it's because her uncle has a harelip, so she targets those who are like that too.

"Fufufu, enough talking. Let's start our fun game."
