Now that Kenneth had survived the slaughter of the Bones family and the experimental ritual of Voldemort and knew that the worst was over, he finally started to feel some excitement towards magic. Magic to Kenneth was one of the most obscure words in the world. Even the phrase "it's like magic" is used when describing an event that is impossible to describe with logic. Therefore, to Kenneth, to be able to use magic means the possibility to achieve the impossible. Of course, like in all unexplored territories of any field, there is danger in experimenting with the unknown. He even remembered that Luna Lovegood's mother passed away because of a failed spell. But still, he wanted to form his own understanding on magic before reading any books, after all, he was sure his body was different to other wizards and witches.
"But what is magical force? How do I manipulate it?" Kenneth though it himself. He closed his eyes, trying to sense the atmospheric magic. In an instant, there was a turbulent wave in the room and he clearly felt a force starting to enter his body.
"That easy? Or is this because of this body?" he did not stop, he knew if something was about to go wrong, his body would warn him through some sort of pain, as that is how a normal body reacts to harmful things. After keeping it up for an hour, he still did not feel anything wrong, but he stopped.
"It's like a bottomless pit, where is it all going anyway?" this time instead of absorbing it he tried to take the magic out of his body, again in an instant, he sensed a force leaving his body easily. After a while, with practice, he got use to the amount he was channelling in and out. He manipulated his magic to change shapes, like tables and chairs made out of pure magical energy, he found it incredible easy. It was almost as if he was the absolute ruler over the magical force. "It should have never be this easy. Looks like I have to thank Voldemort for this gift?" he thought.
He tried to lift physical object like vases, table, chair and pillows with magic. Again, as though gravity never existed, everything surrounding Kenneth started to levitate. He started to move it around and instantly he found a problem. He could lift as many objects as his magical reserves allowed him but they would all only move in a single direction. Every time he tried to get two object to do two different things, he felt as though he was trying to solve two mathematical equations with his left and right hand at the same time. After spending another hour without progress he stopped, he put it aside for now.
"If Nagini gained an innate talent to spatial magic through the serpent's chest rune, it means I should be able to do the same, not only that I should have innate access to a lot more fields of magic, I guess I'll start with the serpent? But doesn't it make more sense if a serpent represent poison?" Kenneth thought.
He went into his mind scape and look a brief look at the 7 special mythical creatures before focusing on the serpent. The serpent felt the least real to Kenneth, or the most ethereal out of the seven. It was almost as if it was there and not there at the same time, as though it had been integrated into its surroundings. When Kenneth focused on the silver rune on its chest, he had the strangest feeling as though that everything around him, including the air was a fabric, he felt that if he wanted to, he could touch it. He lifted his hand while looking at it, it felt as though he was touching a fabric and could see that his touch was creating ripples on the fabric. He was not a scientist, he only had high school knowledge in science from his previous life, but he instantly understood what was going on.
Instinctively Kenneth pointed his index finger forward and channeled a bit of magic and poked the space fabric. The space fabric bent but then fixed itself almost instantly. He channeled more magic and poked at it, this time, the space fabric ripped, the moment he pulled him finger out, the air inside the room started being sucked into the hole. The hole repaired itself and disappeared after a few seconds. "Interesting, truly interesting, being able to manipulate space. No scientist would ever believe it if I told them I can touch the fabric of space. Being able to touch space while being part of space, this truly describe the phrase "it's just like magic"." Kenneth thought happily.
He immersed himself on feeling the fabric of space, next he looked at a vase that was on the table, he reached out with his hands, this time instead of using magic to break the space fabric, he bent it and connected the space fabric near the vase and pushed his hand forward. When the space fabric near his hand and the space fabric near the vase touched each other, Kenneth broke the fabric of space. His hand went through the hole near him and appeared through the hole near the vase, he grabbed the vase and pulled back. Few second later the spatial fabric repaired itself while Kenneth was holding the vase in his hand. he repeated the process to put it back.
Kenneth laughed with glee, "I'll never need to move a single seat over just to grab the T.V. remote ever again!" He went onto grabbing anything and everything in the room, after experimenting few more time, he realized he actually did not need to break the spatial fabric with his hands, he could do it with just magic plus intent. He could easily break the fabric below the vase and make it drop into his hands. The difficulty increased with the size and distance of the object but still possible with enough magic and intent, and when he tried to take something from inside his wardrobe it became almost impossible. He needed a clear picture in his head of what he wanted before he could make it appear in his hands. He had to practice more.
"I still need to speak with Nagini, all that I can do is with active action. While Nagini don't need to be here constantly to keep this room bigger than it already is. Has it something to do with rune engraving?" Kenneth guessed but he still put it aside for now. He still has a lot to go through 6 more powers.
He took a look at the remaining 6 and thought, "I know all these are mythical creature and they are special, but why is there an alicorn with them?" he decided to focus on it next.
The moment he focused on the purple rune hovering on the alicorn's chest, a similar rune appeared on Kenneth's chest, the rune started to absorb all magic in the surroundings, by all magic means the magic inside Kenneth as well. He was startled and tried to stop but failed, and continued to fail to do anything, "Damn it! If this continues, I'll be sucked dry." He thought, gritting his teeth, and that exactly what occurred, every ounce of his magic was sucked into the rune, but it did not stop. The rune continued to devour the magic in the atmosphere for a good two hours before coming to stop. Kenneth was devastated, did he just cripple himself? Surprisingly, the rune then started to deform and formed into a glowing blue orb, the orb then slowly floated into Kenneth's chest. The entry was painless, but when the orb entered in to his heart, his heart started beating faster, then he felt a cool feeling slowly spreading from his chest and towards the rest of his body. Kenneth felt like he drank water after being dehydrated for a week. The feeling only stopped when it completely covered his entire body.
Kenneth found out that, now, when tried absorbing the atmospheric magic, it did not directly enter his body. It first entered his chest where the orb was and from him chest it spread to the rest of his body. His skin was a valve that stopped the magic from flowing back out into the atmosphere. He also noticed that the magic generated by the blue orb was actually much more potent, pure and condensed. Before Kenneth felt that his body dominated over magic, but now he felt that magic was one with him. He did not need to use forceful intent to manipulate it, magic naturally flowed with his intent as though that what it was meant to do from the beginning.
"If the serpent represent space, then the alicorn represents magic purity and affinity?" Kenneth concluded, "This is… fun!" he felt magic was such a blessing, he had fun playing with it, especially now that he felt like he was one with it, not only that, he felt that the blue orb was continuing to refine the quality of his magic into a higher quality.
*Knock knock*
"Come in!" said Kenneth.
Nagini poked her head into his room and said, "Its dinner time, the day shift and evening shift employees all have their dinner together, come down with me, I'll introduce you to them."
"Sure," Kenneth got up and headed out of his room.
Nagini looked up and down at him, while nodding and said, "I do have good taste in clothes!"
They went downstairs and went towards the back of the store to head into the kitchen and dining area. Once they entered the room, all the head turned towards them, there was 6 people at the table, first the employees greeted Nagini and then looked up and down at Kenneth, assessing him.
Nagini clapped her hands and said, "Okay everyone, meet the co-owner of Nagini's Spatial Items, he has been out of the country for a while and just got back in, meet.. urmm.. ," she realised they still had not come up with a name for Kenneth, smiling at him she said "Urm, why don't you introduce yourself to them."
"Hello, I'm Jason Webb, Jason Kenneth Webb. You guys can either call me Jason or Kenneth, I lived in a remote area in France, that's also where I met Nagini. Nice to meet you all." He introduced himself with the name of his previous life with this life's first name as a middle name.
"Ohhh Jason, I like it *cough* I mean, everyone please welcome Jason," said Nagini.
Every one applauded and when it died down a girl nearest to them said, "Welcome Mr. Webb. Miss Nagini, your husband is really good looking! Shouldn't we call you Mrs. Webb then?
Kenneth was startled, he looked at Nagini with raised eyebrows and stuttered "Huh? Wai-wha-?
