Interview

"Manager Kay… do you know this young lady?" The middle-aged man beside him asked respectfully.

"Hardly, don't let this affect your evaluation of her in any way please." Replied Kay coldly. At the same time, a notion passed through his head, 'So she's called Mina…'

Meanwhile, hearing this, enraged, Mina thought to herself, 'Hardly? Did you just say you hardly know the person who saved your life just a day before? Are you ungrateful or what! You would've died if I hadn't called an ambulance and you didn't even say a word of thanks in return! Instead, you say you hardly know me…'

However, this was all within her head as she didn't dare to say them outloud since she didn't want to ruin her chance of working in this gigantic corporation at all cost. She especially liked this branch of Constantine Corporation, and if it was possible, she wanted to do an excellent job as an interviewee.

"Why do you want to work for the Constantine Corporation?" The middle-aged man asked, waiting for her to begin her long speech of praising the Constantine Corporation to the high heavens while saying how she wanted to work for this company since she was just a child after she had seen the beautiful clothes they sold.

However, against his generic expectation, Mina answered, "To be honest… there is no particular reason whatsoever, I was just looking for a job… and this place happened to be hiring, so I applied. I even applied for the competitor of this branch 'Upgrade S'."

After she was done talking though, she pondered to herself in regret, "Damn it, Mina! Why can't you ever bring yourself to just lie! This is why you're doomed to such a miserable fate!"

The middle-aged man immediately became speechless hearing her words. By the side, the young man threw a question, "Hmm… according to the things written in your resume, you've graduated from a very famous university abroad… but you major in design, although this is a clothing branch of Constantine Corporation, still… the post we're hiring has nothing to do with fashion designing since we're looking for a simple secretary and nothing else… so, why would you underestimate yourself like this and apply for something that's not appropriate for your standing and education?"

After carefully listening to the question, Mina responded calmly, "As I said, I was looking for any job over the internet, and two results were found… so I applied for both. And that's why I'm here right now…?"

This time, it was the young man's turn to be knocked out into stupidity.

Finally, it was the mature man, Kay's turn, to question her. But unlike the other two men, he didn't throw a silly question which would result in a silly response, instead, he asked, "What can you offer to this company?"

Hearing this, after a short silence, Mina began talking with a serious glint passing through her eyes, "I'll complete the tasks I've been handed over to the best of my capabilities. I'll be a loyal asset to this company. In short… I'll try my best in everything at work… however, I won't confuse effort with results either." This was all she had to offer to this branch of the Constantine Corporation, so after elaborating to this point, she went entirely quiet.

Nonetheless, hearing the last part of her response 'I won't confuse effort with results', Kay's eyes began to shine brightly. However, he didn't say anything in return. Instead, he just proclaimed, "Alright, that'll be all, you may leave."
