Unexpected Surprise

Lin Dan got serious this time, "I apologize grandfather. I promise to not slack off anymore."

Looking at his grandson's serious eyes, old man Lin let him off the hook and turned in his granddaughter's direction, "C'mon Lin Huiying, it's your turn. Let's see if you can beat my Colonel."

Lin Huiying stood in front of the Colonel with a nervous heart. It was her first time publicly showcase her Krav Maga. She had learned and practiced it, but that doesn't mean that she had ever used it in a real fight before – so she was both excited and nervous.

She turned to face her grandfather, "Today I'm going to show you something I have been learning in secret for a long time. I hope it is a pleasing surprise for you."

"Hahaha! Something in secret, ha? Seems like you've grown up too much in a blink of an eye. Let's see if you can surprise a Commander of the nation's army." Old man Lin was looking forward to it.

Soon the fight began, and it did surprise each person present over there. The moves were different and powerful. It could stand against a Kungfu practitioner.

The fight went on for quite a while. The Colonel had to start using his real force in the fight to save himself. And it resulted in Lin Huiying getting weak. After all, a Colonel could have never matched a teenager's strength.

All the children of the Lin family had trained from childhood, but that doesn't mean that they could beat a Colonel with years of experience in a fight. The result was clear from the start. But the fight Lin Huiying presented was something no one had ever imagined.

After 45 minutes, the fight comes to an end. Lin Huiying was breathing heavily, and the Colonel was also taking long but calm breaths.

Old man Lin came out of the daze and asked, "What was that Ying'er? Where did you learn that kind of martial arts?"

Looking at her grandfather's serious eyes, Lin Huiying got a little worried, "When I was young, I came across a book filled with it. I tried to show it to you, but you ignored me and told me not to waste my time on the stuff sold by the merchants. After reading it for a while, I got more interested in it and tried to learn it by myself whenever I had free time. Just three years ago when I had finished learning all its content, the book turned into a mist and disappeared in front of my eyes. After that, I kept practicing it and today I finally gathered enough courage to showcase it in front of you."

Lin Huiying hesitated a little and continued, "I was not sure how you would react about me learning a different kind of martial arts which is so different from yours. I thought you would be very angry, so I hide it from you. Please forgive me, grandfather."

People listening to the story were perplexed. They didn't know what to do with such information. At one point it looked so childish, but the martial arts showcased by Lin Huiying was nothing to be laughed at. They racked their brains for the correct response to the situation.

Old man Lin sighed heavily, "I am at lost for words. I don't remember ever ignoring such an important book. But you, Lin Huiying has been a surprise for the past three months."

The old man could do nothing about his granddaughter, but it was true that he had uttered the words like – ignore the stuff sold by merchants – many years ago. But he never knew that he would have made the mistake of ignoring something utterly fabulous which could even rival Kungfu. He had never seen any other form of martial arts which could ever beat a Kungfu practitioner, but this was different.

After the fight, the elders knew that Lin Huiying was defeated only because her strength is still weak compared to a huge man like an army's Colonel. But just a few more years of training with that kind of martial arts, she would be standing next to her old man.

Lu Yi-Cheng decided to break the silence, "Let's go inside now and have some tea. The children need to rest now." With that, everyone retreated and went to their courtyards, while the elders gathered in the main hall and discussed their children's growth. It was bound to be quite a long discussion with today's turn of events.

Lin Huiying went to her bedroom and threw herself on the bed. She was tired and her body was sore from all the fighting and the blows she took from the Colonel. But she was happy about her strength. In her past life, she had been a weak child compared to the average.
