It was a modern 6 story apartment complex.
Suddenly, 3 people appeared in a room on the sixth floor.
"What was that?!" Misaka exclaimed next to Kanaru.
Misaki looked around.
It was a normal room: A circular table on which was a framed photo; the table was surrounded by many chairs and the kitchen was perfectly equipped next to it. There were also 2 closed doors in the place and the buildings could be seen from a window.
Kanaru sat in one of the chairs and indicated that they should too.
Misaki was the first to sit down, soon after Misaka did the same.
"In response to your question Misaka-san, we have been transported directly to my room." Kanaru said.
"But why--? Misaka was interrupted by Misaki.
"I've been wondering for a while... what is the project that you 2 want to stop?" Misaki asked.
Kanaru looked directly at her.
"Shokuhou-san, it's called Level 6 Shift Project. In that project, Accelerator, the strongest esper, must kill 20,000 Misaka Mikoto clones to advance to level 6." Kanaru said.
"Clones..." Misaki muttered.
"Huh?" Kanaru was confused to see her reaction.
Misaka clenched her teeth.
Kanaru seeing that spoke again.
"I know about the Level 6 Shift Project because it's a project that was created after the failure of 'my' project: Dark Matter Project, the project that gave me these powers." Kanaru said clenching his fists.
"Calm down Hikari-kun." Misaki said in a friendly tone.
"Dark Matter Project... are you something like a clone of number 2?" Misaka asked.
Kanaru shook his head.
"Dark Matter Project first consisted of using Kakine Teitoku in inoculating DNA samples from level 5 espers and getting him to advance to level 6. But he escaped from the lab before everything will start, so they used a woman that he had the same ability as Kakine, although that ability was artificial. But her ability 'Dark Matter' mixed with her own ability 'Corrosion' and resulted in failure to combine DNA. In the end, the project could not even get through the first phase: 'Finding an esper with qualified Dark Matter' and instead they used that woman to try to give ger ability to other people, but they all died due to her 'Corrosion' and the project was canceled." Kanaru said.
Misaka and Misaki didn't say anything for a long time. They were processing the information and finally they noticed the most important part.
""You have my DNA!"" Both girls exclaimed.
"But you... your ability is not level 2?" Misaka asked shortly after.
"No, that was over 2 years ago, that ability increased to level 5." Kanaru said responding to Misaka. He kept talking.
"As you can see, that project was destined to fail, there were many conditions for the project to be successful. Although after the experience of so many failures and added to my 'recovery' ability, the project was reactivated and it was a success… but only halfway… my power is constantly increasing, but I'm not yet a level 6 esper." Kanaru said shaking his head.
"But how--" Misaki wanted to ask something, but was interrupted by Kanaru.
"It was a stupid project; no further investigation is necessary." Kanaru said with a frown.
"Fine..." Misaki nodded quietly.
Kanaru seeing this sighed.
"Shokuhou-san, I need your help to defeat Accelerator." Kanaru said.
"But my ability is completely useless against him, he can simply reflect my mental waves." Misaki said.
"I know... but I need your help for something else." Kanaru said.
Misaki looked at Kanaru for a moment.
*Sigh* "I think I know what you need, okay... I'll help you." Misaki said.
Kanaru looked at Misaka.
"As I told you before, I can defeat Accelerator, but I can't do it alone... I appreciate you trusting me, that's why I also trusted you in telling you all this." Kanaru said.
["And also in me"] Misaki smiled.
"I really hope we can stop that project, thanks for helping me, but there is something I don't understand... can you basically use my ability and that of the other level 5 espers?" Misaka asked.
Misaki also seemed interested in his response.
"*Sigh*" Kanaru sighed and he replied shortly after...
"Yes."
