Hubrid is encumbered by darkness he'd never felt before, it pushed down on him with an immense pressure nearly choking him. Even when his heart was pierced by a magic-infused arrow and he laid on the ground nearly dead, he had never felt his kind of darkness before, this kind of emptiness was different. He tried to breathe but his throat was filled to the brim with the sloppy dark atmosphere that surrounded him. He tried to scream but nothing came out, he continued to choke on the darkness until he could no longer feel himself.
"Away."
The decrepit gruff voice of an old man breaks through the darkness, and with a single word the darkness surrounding Hubrid is dispersed, he gags on the darkness that lingered in his throat as he came to. This time light surrounded Hubrid, so bright it nearly seared his skin and blinded him. He put his hands over his eyes to block out the light only for it to do nothing as the rays of light ignored his palms.
"You're the one who should be going…" The other voice speaks out in the same tone. Hybrid could not tell who was who. Both the dark and the light began to converge and created a balance between the two elements, his world became grey while the air became thick and humid.
"What will you-"
"Let him decide on his own!" A discernible deep voice, unlike the others, interrupts, the other two sit in silence as they await Hubrids decision. It spoke with elegance and superiority.
"What is this?" Hubrid says as he can finally feel his mouth moving and his voice speaking.
"You will make a choice between the light and the dark. You can decide to live or you can decide to die. It is a choice that only you can make, and no one else."
The light and the dark disperse from one another becoming separate as Hubrid stood on both sides, his right side in the light, his left side in the dark.
"I choose life!" Hubrid shouts out in an attempt for the voices to hear him.
"..."
"I said I choos-."
"you have to pick a side, you idiot!" The indiscernible voices speak simultaneously.
"I choose the side of life!" Hubrid shouts out with confidence.
"You have to walk into either the light or the dark. Your choice will guide you into your fut- what're you doing!?" The voice shouts out in confusion.
Without hesitation, Hubrid walks into the darkness. Unlike last time, he could see all around him and the dark didn't suffocate him. He could see, he could breathe, he could live.
The voice begins to speak, this time with impression instead of indifference.
"Why did you choose the dark, young man?" It says in awe as he spoke to Hubrid as Hubrid stood in confusion.
"Oh no! Was I supposed to pick the other one?!" Hubrid says in worry as he tries running into the light only for it to be long gone.
"If you walked into the light, you would've died." The voice states as Hubrid stops dead in his tracks.
"Fairy King Regil, you have won the battle between yourself and Nigil, your voice is the only one that'll reside inside of this young man, along with his own voice from this day forward!" The voice says decisively.
"Young man, you have a keen eye. You can tell good from wrong despite how it may disguise itself. I expect for this world to change from this day forward!"
As the dark cleared away and Hubrid came back to his senses, he saw a familiar face lingering in the dark before he awoke in a puddle of water.
"I can't believe you're alive after all these years King Hmrid…" Mwop says to Hubrid as he once again has his ears filled with water. He slaps the left side of his head to get the water to stop ringing and for sound to come through. His hearing was disabled but he still heard a voice inside of his head.
'Choosing darkness over light? I think I'm the one who pulled the short end of the straw on this one…" A jolly deep voice spoke with a chuckle as he continued to speak.
'I guess it doesn't matter how far the apple tree falls from the tree if it comes from the same place.'
Hubrid begins whacking his head again this time with both hands He shouts as the ringing in his ears continued, "Who are you!"
'I'm the king of the fairies, Regil! My voice probably sounded quite rasp when I spoke with you earlier due to the interference of a certain man… I know who you are so no need for the pleasantries, I'd left the world of humans so that I'd never see a human face again but I'm glad that the face I get to see now is yours!'
Arry looks at Hubrid as he began to beat away at his head endlessly, "What did you say about Nigil!…"
'Calm down!' Regil shouts out in worry.
"Oh Okay," Hubrid says as he calms himself quickly.
'Wha-,' Regil clears his throat, 'since you've come back to your senses, I want you to grab that book sitting on the ground.'
"Okay," Hubrid says aloud as he walks in the opposite direction he was directed in, picking up a burnt book.
"I have it,"
Regil sighs as he realizes he should have been clearer for a boy such as Hubrid.
'That'll… do…' Regil says as he lingers on his words.
'Hubrid… Do you have enough magic to spread it out evenly over your body?"
"Like this? Hubrid says as he instantly glows as if he had just spontaneously combusted and uses up all of his magic in an instant."
"What the hell!" Arry shouts as he jumps back in shock as Hubrid gleamed in a harsh yellow light.
'...' He lets out a puff of air as he realizes what he'd won.
'Yes, that is how you do it but…'
Before he could finish, Hubrid begins to feel light-headed and falls to the ground as the ringing finally stops and he comes back to his senses.
'Hand that book over to Mwop and tell here to do the thing,' Regil says with exhaustion from the shenanigans Hubrid had continued creating.
'Wait what are you doing!' Regil says as Hubrid began waving the book in a circle as if he were charging up a vicious blow and throws it at Mwop with force.
'Why!?' Regil says in exasperation.
"You told me to give her the book didn't you?" Hubrid says as the book lands on Mwop's forehead with a thump. The thick book falls to the ground hitting Arry who'd been laying underneath her knocking them both out.
"How?!" Regil screams at Hubrid in awe as a book falls off of the highest point of the bookshelf and hits Hubrid on his head, knocking him out alongside the fairies.
'What kind of…'
Regil finds himself slipping into unconsciousness, his eyelids waver and flutter, instead of the darkness that usually enveloped them, he saw a light.
