Luke Mother Suspicion

On the hubbub street were any kinds of people passed by, a young man was walking hastily in a certain direction. With a tattered hoodie, pairs of ripped jeans, dishevelled hair, the appearance of him undoubtedly drew any passerby's attention. Even so, he remained silent and calmly continued his jog. However, beneath his calm face, he was actually screamed in embarrassment, 'Please don't look at me! Please don't look at me!'

It was none other Luke Lewis whose appearance had been messed due to the fight he experienced earlier. He can't believe his chaotic appearance would attract people's eyes as he walks briskly.

After overcoming his shyness throughout the journey, Luke finally reached his destination. It was Lark Special Academy he headed out into.

Like any other school, the school was surrounded by a thick cement wall with only one entrance gate. On the left side behind the gate was a small building which Luke assumed as the security guard post. And for the rest, it was a wide area with no building in sight except for the huge gate on the depth centre area. The gate was unexpectedly colossal and had another wall encompassing it. It was akin to a gate that leads to another dimension.

But, once he arrived there. He wasn't sure whether it's appropriate to enter with this kind of appearance.

While Luke in a dilemma state, a guard who got stationed at Lark Special Academy entrance gate noticed him. Scanned Luke's appearance briefly, the man approached Luke with a smile before shoving his hand into his pocket and handed him money, "I'm sorry, but this is the only money I got in my pocket currently."

Luke was stunned for a moment before shifting his eyes into the man's palm where money was lying. Luke remained quiet before his mind registered what's the man intention. Shaking his head rapidly, Luke quickly explained, "I'm not a beggar, mister."

"Eh? You aren't?" The man seems embarrassed for a moment before laughed awkwardly, "Then, what business do you have coming here?"

What business I have here? Should I elaborate to him that I'm planned to enroll at this school? Realizing he hadn't known the slightest about the registering procedure on LSA, Luke then voiced his thought, "I'm planned to sign up at LSA. Where should I start, mister?"

Fortunately, the guard didn't mind his chaotic appearance and explained patiently, "You can actually read the procedure on the hologram board there." the man pointed his chin at the floating boards before adding, "If you planned to apply, better do it fast."

'So that's what called hologram board.' Luke thought to himself before asked confusedly, "Why is that?"

"The entrance exam has opened around two weeks ago, and the freshman batch has emerged from it. Hence, unless you can apply in the next two days, I'm afraid you have to wait until next year to enter LSA." The guard explained.

"So it's like that," Luke mumbled as he fell into deep thought.

'Two days? I think I could reach it on time. Yep, I must definitely achieve it. Anyhow, if worst comes forth, I'll just introduce my ability was a rapid physical improvement.' Luke mused in optimize before he thanked the guard and sauntered toward the hologram boards.

The boards consisted of several different information. But since his purpose today was to find out about the process of signing up, Luke just shortly surveyed the boards and found what he searched a few seconds later.

"How to enroll at Lark Special Academy."

"1. The registrant has a legit identity card."

"2. A Transcender."

"3. Signed the confidentiality agreement."

"This simple?" Luke was slightly bewildered by the statement.

'Well, ain't becoming a Transcender isn't a simple matter?' Luke chided himself before walking to the security guard, "Anyway, thanks for the help, mister. Have a nice day."

After bidding farewell to the security guard, Luke hastily runs to his home since his mom might arrive soon.

Entering the bathroom, Luke rinses himself from the sweat plastered over his body. The sweats he produced from fighting against Liyan's gang, running back and fro really bother him.

After cleaning himself, Luke stepped out of the bathroom only to find his mother already sat comfortably on the couch.

"Mom," Luke called.

"Oh, you already had a bath? I wonder what kind of encounter you got." Luke's mother said as she eyed her son's appearance.

Currently, Luke wore a black long sleeve shirt with a printed cartoon on it. He deliberately wore it to hide his bruised arms. He wiped his wet hair with a towel and began sat beside his mother, "What do you mean, mom?"

Luke's mother rubbed her chin as if pondering something before began to speak, "These past two days you've acting weirdly. Didn't you notice that? Firstly, you've spoken too much."

Luke was immediately dumbfounded by his mother's words, "Isn't it good that I spoke too much now?"

Luke's mother subconsciously nodded her head before shaking it, "Nah...That's why it's weird. In the past, you usually kept all things by yourself and never tried to initiate conversation."

Luke could only rub his forehead awkwardly. It seems he acts too carefreely that he forgot that now he resides in another body.

Luke's mother didn't wait for Luke's reply and began to speak again, "Second, you act too smartly that mom afraid you were presently possessed. Even though you were originally smart, you never that scheming before. An example was yesterday when you recorded the entire fight scene." Luke's mother's eyes start glittering, causing Luke shocked for a moment before he worriedly asked, "What's wrong, mom?"

Luke's mother didn't answer him and continued her speech, "Thirdly, when you talked about wanting to enroll at Lark Special Academy, I could also hear the confidence and determination within your voice. Obviously, it's not bad. On the contrary, it's really nice seeing my son finally got a goal. But that was made it scary as well. I can sense my son becoming a stranger each day, and it hurt me a lot seeing it. Guess mothers would worry when their child does not depend on them anymore. She would also worry when their child is not capable of living independently and always depend on her." Luke's mother chuckled a little at her last sentence.

Luke didn't interrupt his mother and let her continue her speech, "Fourth, I know this sounds silly, but I couldn't help voice my thought upon witnessing scene today. You surprisingly took a bath today! On your day off, mom never saw you once took a bath. Fifth, you said you hated those clothes with printed cartoons since it looks stupid and cute at the same time. You said you would never wear it in this lifetime, but look now."

Luke didn't know whether to laugh or cry after hearing the fourth and fifth reasons. He took a bath because his body is sticky and sweaty that it makes him really uncomfortable. Should he remain calm at that and didn't take a bath for a day? That action sounds more silly for him. And about him wearing a long sleeve cartoon printed shirt was not because he wanted to. It's because he randomly grabbed any long-sleeve shirt and coincidentally, the one he picked up was this cartoon printed shirt. He didn't mind the printed cartoon slightest since his purpose was only to cover his bruised arms. But he didn't expect that his choice would lead to his mother became suspicious about his identity.

'What a troublesome situation.' Luke slapped his forehead inwardly.

Seeing the tears that polled on his mother's eyes, Luke composed himself and took a deep breath before embracing her, "Mom, no matter what happened, I'll always remain your child. No need to worry. Maybe my behavior sudden change these past two days was caused by my hormones. You know that teens tend to have a rebellious state, and maybe I'm also currently in that state."

"I know, but I couldn't just stop worrying about you." Luke's mother sobbed a little while Luke patting her back.

He can't reveal his real identity before acquired enough power to protect his family. He didn't know what his mother would do if she discovers that his son was already dead because of Johny's over bullying. Just by seeing her reaction toward his injuries, Luke could guess that she would definitely barge into Johny's house if his mother finds out about this matter.

Luke sighed once again while thinking about how to pacify his mother.
