It's been a few days since Luffy and crew left the Twin Capes and started their journey to the first island in the Grand Line. They were currently sailing through calm waters while snow was falling from above.
Luffy is sitting on his throne despite the cold, drinking whiskey while Zoro on the right sleeps in the cold.
Nami and Nojiko couldn't stand the cold, so they both wrapped up in winter clothes and were in a warmer kitchen with the two people Luffy allowed to travel with them to Whiskey Peak.
Usopp and Johnny were on the main deck building a snowman while Sanji and Yosaku shoveled snow from the ship. Luffy looked at Usopp and Johnny, who went from building snowmen to having snowball fights. Luffy sighed before getting an idea, then smirked.
"Hey, Usopp! Johnny!" Luffy called out to get their attention. "If you two are going to play around, at least do it while practicing," he said, causing them to look at him with confused faces.
"What do you mean, brother Luffy?" Johnny asked while looking at Luffy.
"I mean, have your little snowball fight blindfolded" he said before taking a sip of his drink.
"This will help train your judge's observation," he said causing them both to smile before running to the kitchen and grabbing their blindfolds, before heading back out and continuing their snowball fight.
Luffy then took another sip of his drink and looked up at the sky. As he looked up, lightning flashed overhead and thunder rumbled above their heads. The sound was loud enough to make everyone stop what they were doing and stare at Luffy.
"Don't look at me; it's nature's doing," he said, causing his crew to go back to what they were doing. Luffy then noticed that the wind was picking up and the calm snowfall had suddenly turned into a blizzard.
He sighed and reached into his mantle and took out a square pendant that was gold in color and attached to a gold chain that connected to the inside of his mantle.
He used his thumb to open the locket and looked inside. The inside of the pendant is divided into two parts. Both sections have pose logs, but they are two distinct-looking pose logs.
The top has a single pose log similar to the one Nami bought in Louge Town, while the bottom has three pose logs grouped together [like Jack Sparrow's compass]. Luffy stared at the top of the compass and growled.
"Something wrong, Captain?" Zoro asked from beside Luffy. Luffy closed the box and placed it back in his coat before he answered Zoro.
"It seems my navigator is useless," he said before walking to the master of the upper deck and shouting at the crew. "WELL LISTEN, EVERYONE!" Luffy shouted for everyone's attention.
"STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND TURN THE SHIP TOGETHER SIDE!" Luffy shouted, confusing them all. Nami and Nojiko heard what Luffy said and came out of the kitchen to see why they needed to turn around.
"Luffy," Nami said, getting his attention. "Why do we need to turn around?" She asked. Luffy looked at him with an emotionless expression on his face before he answered.
"Well, Miss Navigator, if you do your job, you will notice that we are sailing in the opposite direction," Luffy said calmly, causing all their eyes to widen.
"Now if all of you are done being shocked, I would highly recommend all of you... turn this ship now!" Luffy shouted letting his anger show for a bit before he went and sat on his throne and poured himself a glass of whiskey before he downed it all.
Luffy looked down and watched as everyone panicked and scattered as the weather started to change again. Sanji and Nojiko stood guard at the wheel, Johnny and Yosaku tied the sails, and Usopp ran around repairing the damage while Nami shouted orders.
Luffy had thought about going there and helping Nami, but he decided otherwise because he wanted Nami to have the experience. It was then that Luffy realized that his first mate was nowhere to be seen amidst this chaos.
Luffy looked at where he last saw Zoro and saw the swordsman to his right sleeping causing Luffy's eyebrows to twitch in annoyance.
"He's really sleeping... "I'll let Nami take care of it," Luffy thought to himself with an evil grin on his face. After about thirty minutes of chaos, all was finally quiet, and the ship was sailing in the right direction.
It was at that moment that Zoro decided to wake up. He got up and stretched with a yawn before walking over to Luffy and speaking.
"Hey captain," he said, getting Luffy's attention. "Something has been bothering me for some time" he said causing Luffy to raise his eyebrows.
"What's bothering you?" Luffy asked as he got up from his throne.
"It's about the two people we brought into the Twin Capes," he said, causing Luffy to narrow his eyes.
"What's wrong with them?" he asked. He had been completely suspicious of these two from the moment he met them. The only reason he agreed to lead them to their destination was so he could plunder the island.
"Their names," Zoro said, confusing Luffy. "I'm pretty sure I've heard names like them before, but I can't remember when or where," he said causing Luffy to nod his head before he answered.
"Watch them," he said, causing Zoro to nod his head. Luffy then walked up behind Zoro, grabbed him by the back of his neck, and dragged him towards the rest of the crew.
"Captain!" "What are you doing!?" Zoro shouted or asked as he was dragged away. Luffy didn't answer; instead, he looked at Nami before he shouted at Nami.
"Hey Nami!" Luffy shouted, getting his attention. Luffy then threw Zoro from the top deck onto the main deck, where Nami was before he spoke. "Our enchanting vice captain slept through all the commotion," said Luffy with an evil grin before he made his way back to his throne as the ship was filled with Zoro's screams.
Just as Luffy was about to sit down, Johnny's voice caused Luffy to stop and turn around.
"Island ahead!" Johnny shouted from the front of the ship and caught everyone's attention. Everyone looked in front of them and saw an island visible through the mist.
"So, that's Whiskey Peak," said Sanji as he lit a new cigarette.
"The landscape is unlike any island I've ever seen," said Nojiko.
"Our first trip on the Grand Line is over," said Luffy as he walked beside the crew and stared at the island. The island itself has a strange shape, there are several mountains that look like giant cacti.
"Hey, look," said Nami, pointing forward. "There is a waterway that seems to lead to the shoreline," she said as they began sailing inland.
"Umm, I suspect there might be monsters out there," said Usopp in a scared voice.
"Well, that is a possibility; after all, this is the Grand Line," said Zoro. Luffy then looked at the bounty-hunter duo and spoke.
"You guys go take our two prisoners; we can use them as prisoners," he said, causing them both to run to get the man and woman. As the ship sailed further into the waterway, a thick fog appeared, causing everyone to keep their guard up.
When Johnny and Yosaku returned with the man and woman, they placed the two of them in front of Luffy and went to stand behind him. Luffy glanced at the man and woman before turning his attention back to the area around him.
Even though he couldn't see anyone, he could clearly feel the conditions around him.
