Hours later, after leaving Professor Oak's Lab, Eric was found lying on the ground in Route 1. People would stop to look at him as he was covered in dirt, sweat, and looked as if he was baked in an oven.
"If this were the real world, then I'd probably be dead ten times over. Apparently, it's natural to take on a few attacks, although they hurt like hell..." Eric sighed as he slowly got up to his feet and looked at himself. He looked like an absolute mess, and the clothes he wore were falling apart.
"I need new clothes... How many Pokedollars would it take to do that?" He pulled his Pokedex out from his pocket to check the menu, and almost immediately, a bright screen appeared in his face.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Eric LVL 1 (15/100)

Strength - 6
Vitality - 4
Intelligence - 10
Luck - 3
Inventory (2/10) Potion x2 , Pokeball x5

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eric silently stared at the amount for a while before eventually putting his Pokedex away and started to walk fast. 'What the hell?!! Why so much? People don't have this much at the beginning of a game!' He screamed in his head.
Eric was so lost in thought that he didn't see someone riding on a bike heading straight towards him.
"H-Hey! Watch out!" The person shouted, snapping Eric out of his daydream, giving him enough time to leap out of the way.
"Woah!" The person lost control of their bike and crashed into a tree a little ways from Eric.
"I'm so sorry!" Eric quickly ran over to help the person off of the ground but was pushed away.
The person turned out to be a brown-haired girl with a face that could make anyone take several glances — flawless milky white skin and piercing green eyes that radiated confidence even behind her black-rimmed glasses. A stylish purple jacket covered her slightly petite body along with a white top with a Gastly printed on it, purple jeans with intricate designs on the left side and white sneakers.
"Ugh... Say sorry to my bike, you jerk!" She said as they pointed at her ruined bike lying on the ground. "How are you going to pay me back?! You look like a bum!"
Eric silently stared at the girl as she continues to insult him on his current looks. 'Oh god, am I doing the same thing Ash did with Misty? Wait I have money, I'll just buy it to shut her up.' He thought.
"Are you listening to me?!" She said, grabbing the collar of Eric's shirt.
"I'll buy you a new one?" Eric bluntly asked.
"You!..." She paused as she just registered what Eric said. "You'll buy me a new one? How-"
"I was doing some training, and unfortunately ended up like this... I need to buy some new clothes so... You can just follow me to Viridian City... " Eric shrugged away from the girl's grasp and continue to walk through Route 1.
"Huh?...." She watched Eric until he was further down the road. "Ah! Wait!" She quickly picked up her ruined bike and a backpack that was nearby before following him.
"So that you know you won't get away from me until you pay for my bike!"
"Yeah Yeah..." Erick rolled his eyes. 'Damn, can't she shut up already?' He thought as he continued to ignore the girl.
"Hmm..." The girl wasn't used to being ignored like this as her looks always made someone want to strike up a conversation. "Weird...but don't think I'll let my guard down." She muttered softly to herself.
The trip to Viridian city took around an hour, and along the way, the girl would not stop talking.
"Ugh, look, I don't know my way around. Could you take me to where we can buy a bike?" Eric apathetically asked the girl without even looking at her.
"I..." She was bit stunned as the was the only thing that came out of Eric's mouth after being silent the entire trip. He didn't ask for her name, nor did he want to clean up first.
He wanted to get rid of her!
The realization sent a massive blow to her ego, and for a time, she thought that she wasn't attractive at all.
"...Just follow me. " She said with a harrumph before leading the way.
Eric shrugged his shoulders, following after the girl until eventually, they arrived at a bike store.
A chubby middle-aged man greeted them outside with a huge smile. "Hello! And welcome to my store. How may I help you today?"
Eric simply pointed at the girl's bike.
"Oh, wow, it is in terrible shape. I'm not sure we could repair it... " The chubby man said while checking the girl's bike. "A new one is pretty costly... Are you sure you can afford it-"
Eric pulled out his Pokedex and quickly opened it to show his balance, "This unit belongs to Eric from Pallet Town. Currently seen pokemon, zero. Currently caught pokemon, one." The Pokedex said in a computerized male voice.
"Just say you can't afford it. You don't need to waste our time." The girl hatefully said with a sneer.
"Current balance 102,500 Pokedollars."
The salesman and the girl were both stunned at the amount. They thought it was a joke, but it even showed his picture on the screen.
The salesman was the first to recover after the shock, "I'll get that right away for you, sir!" He said before snatching the girl's ruined bike, and chunking into the garbage bin next to his store.
"Hey!" The girl shouted in disbelief at the salesman's actions.
"Apologies, ma'am, I didn't mean to upset you. I'll go get an identical from the newest batch we got so that you know you're getting the best!" The salesman said with a smile and quickly disappeared into the store.
Several moments later, Eric paid for the girl's new bike, which was for 10,000 Pokedollars, but it didn't bother him at all.
"Well, goodbye. Hope you the best in whatever you're trying to do." Eric started to walk away to look for a clothes store.
The girl gripped the handlebars of her new bike just as she gritted her teeth in anger. "Wait right there! I challenge you to a Pokemon battle!"
Eric suddenly stopped and turned around, " A what now?"
"P-O-K-E-M-O-N BATTLE!! BATTLE ME RIGHT NOW!" The girl said, reaching underneath her jacket to grab a Pokeball, pressing it to enlarge it. She couldn't accept Eric's attitude and wanted to beat him since he was a trainer. 'I'll show you!'
"You see... about that.." Eric scratched the back of his head. 'All I have is that damn Pikachu! How am I going to battle!' He thought with a wry smile.
"What? Afraid to lose to little old me? Coward!" The girl mocked, hoping to get a reaction out of Eric.
"No... I just rather do something more important. In case you didn't know. I still look and smell like crap." Eric said as he continued to walk away.
"W-wait... I... Grrr!!" The girl stomped her feet and followed after Eric on her new bike.
-------------------------
The girl had followed Eric all around Viridian City and even into the store where he bought new clothes. He was now on his way to the Pokemon center to take a shower and rest for the night.
"Why are you still following me?!" Eric asked the girl who was still walking behind him after all this time. She was silent the whole trip, but her being around him caused all sorts of problems.
"I want you to battle me." The girl bluntly said while hopping off her bike.
'I can't deal with this girl,' Eric thought in his head before sighing. "Do whatever you want. " He quickly went into the Pokemon Center to get a room, and sure enough, the girl followed him in after locking up her bike.
Eric decided to take a shower as the state he was in was getting unbearable. The nice warm water cleared his head, relieving him of the day's stress. "Why can't that girl take a hint, or do I have to say it..." He muttered softly.
Once he was done taking a shower, Eric would change into the blue pajama set he bought along with his new clothes and quickly raced to his room to avoid the girl. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't fast enough.
"Oh... you-"
"If I battle you will you leave me alone?" Eric said, cutting her off.
The girl glared at him for a time, eventually nodding her head. 'I was going to apologize to him, but now that I look at him again... I don't think I can!' She thought as she gripped her fist.
-------------------------
Several moments later, the two found themselves in a nearby battleground and took their appropriate positions.
"Let's do this quick before it gets too late." Eric took his only Pokeball with Pikachu in it. 'Maybe if she wins, she'll leave me alone. I'm counting on you, Pikachu.'
"Fine! One pokemon only." The girl took one of her Pokeballs, and threw it into the air, releasing a Haunter
.
[Haunter~] Haunter happily shouted with its long tongue hanging from its mouth. The purple gaseous pokemon with a spiked head twirled in the air once before preparing for battle.
"You're going to lose!"
"Well, Haunter is obviously stronger than my Pikachu...I'll just have to try..." Eric said underneath his breath, throwing out his Pikachu.
[Pikachuuu...] Pikachu immediately turned around and looked at Eric maliciously with electricity charging in its cheeks to use Thunder Shock.
"Wait!" Eric shouted, but it was too late as Pikachu already initiated its attack. Luckily he has gotten good at dodging its attacks.
"Grr... Playing around!" The girl gritted her teeth. "Haunter, go! Use Shadow Ball!
[Haunteeerr!!] Haunter charged a sizable Shadow Ball in front of its mouth and shot it at the unsuspecting Pikachu.
"Watch out, Pikachu!"
[Pika?] Pikachu only manage to catch a glimpse of the Shadow Ball before taking it head-on.
*Boom!*
The impact caused an explosion creating a small cloud of dust around Pikachu.
"How'd you like that?! Stop playing around and fight seriously." The girl shouted while pointing at Eric. "Haunter, go! Use Shadow Ball again!"
[Pikachuuuu] Pikachu used Thunder Shock to attack Haunter, clearing away the dust in the process. It was damaged from the head-on attack, but it looked like it still had a lot of fight left!
"Dodge it and get close before using Shadow Ball! " The girl commanded as Haunter smoothly avoided the attack and disappeared into thin air.
"Pikachu, just calm down and.."
[Pika?] Pikachu ignored Eric and proceeded to panic as it lost sight of the Haunter. However, it didn't need to wait long as it appeared seconds later with Shadow Ball inches away from Pikachu's face.
[Pi-] Pikachu couldn't react fast enough, and took another head-on Shadow Ball, causing it to fly backward along with it into another small explosion.
"It's... Over," Eric sighed as he looked at his now fainted Pikachu. His face showed that he didn't care, but if one watched him close enough, then you would see him grip his fists, although it was quite brief. "It's my loss." Eric slowly picked up Pikachu, holding it in his arms.
*10 exp gained for losing*
'Wow...What a way to put me down even more. I don't even want this kind of exp." Eric thought after hearing the voice in his head.
[Pi...] Pikachu woke up briefly in the arms of its hated trainer, but somehow it didn't feel too bad. However, it did feel bad for losing, but why exactly should it care?
"Take a good rest, Pikachu.." Eric gently said as he recalled it into its Pokeball and started to walk back to the Pokemon Center.
The girl blankly stared at the receding figure of Eric and thought that it looked quite pitiful. However, she wasn't doing to well either, even though she should be happy about beating him. "Damn it..."
And the day ended with two troubled trainers and Pikachu, who slowly started to have a change of heart.
The third chapter is out! Thank you for reading it! Let me know if there are any mistakes. I know it's a bit slow, but trust me! It will pick up!
