When they came out the cemetery, she saw Leo driving away in his car and sighed.

''Let's go. I parked the car over there'' Detective Gail said to Nicole.

''Oh'' she looked around but couldn't find Lizzy and murmured, ''did she leave already? Tsk, that ghost really left without me''

''What did you say?'' Detective Gail turned and asked and Nicole shook her.

''Nothing, let's go''

Detective Gail pulled over in front of Nicole's house and got down. he opened the door for her to get down as he said to her, ''will you be fine on your own?''

''How did you find me?'' Nicole asked.

''I kept a tracker on your phone. Because of what happened the last time, I was worried that something might happen to you without me knowing''

''Is it legal for a police to do that?''

''It's not legal but I was worried about you. Go in and rest, I will call in and see you tomorrow''

''Okay, thanks for today. I'm grateful for your help''

''Sure, go in and rest''

Nicole stood at the door and watched as Detective drove away from her sight before she turned to go in. she opened the door and went inside and saw the three ghosts seated in the hall. when they saw her Candy stood up and walked to her.

''Nicole, you are finally here''

''Lizzy, what's wrong with her?'' Nicole asked seeing Lizzy's downcast face. 'Are you alright?''

''What were you people doing at the graveyard today? Lizzy almost lost her soul because of you'' Candy said to Nicole.

''What do you mean?'' Nicole squatted in front of Lizzy and touched her face and it felt hot. ''You… did you meet an exorcist or what? Why is your body so hot and pale?''

''She met an exorcist, luckily he was after something else and only taught her a lesson'' Granny explained.

''An exorcist in this city? I thought the city didn't have one before?''

''One came to the city recently and guess who he is?'' Candy looked at Nicole.

''Who? I won't let that person go off for doing this to Lizzy''

''Detective Gail. He is the one who did this to me. He is the exorcist who came to the city'' Lizzy finally looked at Nicole. Nicole fell on her back and sat on the floor.

''Detective Gail? How is that possible?'' Nicole couldn't believe it but seeing how hot and pale Lizzy looked, she couldn't help but come to terms with their new revelation. ''Is that why he knew where I was and even came to save me? Then, does that mean he is the one who exorcised the ghosts in the cemetery?''

''Yes, before the grim ripper arrived, he had already taken care of it. he and the grim ripper are familiar with each other. You have to be careful around him. He is a different kind of exorcist. Their kind are unsympathetic to ghosts. I believe he saw the omen surrounding you that's why he is always trying to get close to you'' Granny told Nicole.

''I should have realised earlier. All his actions didn't seem right but I just couldn't place a finger on what exactly it was I was feeling about him. Lizzy, I'm sorry''

''I can't go out for a while. Granny said that man is tenacious, he won't rest until I am exorcised. I can't be with you all the time''

''Don't worry, I will protect you. that damn exorcist. He even dared to put a tracker on my phone. I will get a new contact number tomorrow and get rid of this number for now. He could see you and still pretended to be clueless. Lying to me about an event of the past'' Nicole became furious.

''How was Leo? Did you have a good chat with him?'' Lizzy asked.

''No, I took his number. I will call him tomorrow but I can't promise anything because he seemed angry that I was leaving with Detective Gail''

''This detective Gail is going to be annoying. Should I go and mess with him?'' Candy suggested.

''Don't do anything. If you want to be exorcised, you can go ahead and appear before that man'' Granny warned her.

''Then, does it mean, no ghost is save anymore? Even those who have grievances and need to be taken care of before going to the afterlife? Why would he go around exorcising ghosts? Is he on an exorcising spree?''

''That is his job. And he seems to have taken a special liking to you, Nicole''

Nicole turned to Granny after hearing what she said. ''Why would he take a liking to me?''

''Because he might really like you or maybe because you are a medium between the dead and the living. Someone who had experienced death before. every exorcist needs someone like you to help them locate where ghosts are'' Granny explained.

''So, was he using me all this while? I knew it. he couldn't have liked me'' Nicole frowned her face and came to a conclusion, ''it seems I have to end things with him''

Leo drunk some water from a bottle and closed the fridge. He stood beside it, still holding the bottle as he reminisced on the scene at the graveyard.

''What? I will go with Detective Gail? This woman soon forgot who was with her after seeing that so called detective. I was with her despite my own fears and she abandons me as soon as she sees a detective?''

He placed the bottle on the kitchen counter and went into his room. Casting his face upon the picture of Lizzy, he removed his phone, ''I can't let this be. That woman and I need to talk right now'' he said and scrolled to the contact of Nicole and looked at the time.

''It is almost evening. Will she be tired after what we went through? Wait? Why do I have to care about that? I just need to ask her how she is connected to Lizzy because she herself said if it wasn't because of Lizzy, she wouldn't have come to save me. can she really see ghost?''

He suddenly felt chilly and wrapped his arms around himself. ''what cold feeling is this? I hope some ghost didn't follow me here?''

After taking her bath, Nicole wore her black pyjamas and went to the hall where Lizzy was sitting alone. Granny and Candy had left earlier that evening. She sat beside Lizzy and asked, ''are you alright?''

Lizzy shook her head, ''I was scared. He had an amulet around him and he kept chanting some words. He passed right through. That was when I suddenly felt that he could see me but was pretending all this while. But when I tried to go inside again, the force that brought me back was nothing I had seen before. he was so powerful Nicole. he seemed to have built some invisible wall around himself''

''That's the effect of the exorcist charm. It makes it difficult for ghosts to penetrate the encasement they build around themselves. We have to stay away from him''

''I think you are the one he wants and maybe I am an obstacle to his plans"

''I won't let him take you away, Lizzy. I will go and have a word with him tomorrow. If he thinks that I am so gullible and easy to deceive then he must be mistaken'' Nicole said and sneezed.

''What's wrong? Are you coming down with a fever?'' Lizzy touched Nicole's head and screamed, ''Nikki, you have a fever''

''Do I?'' Nicole touched her own forehead and furrowed her brows, ''oh, it seems so''

''You didn't even know you were coming down with a fever until now? Stand up, I will prepare some wet towels for you''

''Lizzy, have you forgotten you can't touch or hold things yet?'' Nicole reminded her.

''Right. But, what should I do? I'm afraid you might fall seriously sick right now or in the middle of the night. I can't also go out because my body is weak''

''I will be fine, don't worry too much'' Nicole said and stood up. She suddenly felt herself growing dizzy and held unto the couch. ''I think I might really be falling sick. Where did I put my phone?'' she asked and Lizzy looked around the room and went to her bedroom before returning.

''It's in the bedroom. Can you get there and call someone for help?'' Lizzy asked and Nicole nodded her head. she held on to a few things in the hall unto she got to her room and slumped into the bed. She used her hand to pull the phone over to her side and quickly unlocked it. Her sight was blurry so she just dialled the number her fingers could touch and the call when through. When it connected, she said in a soft tone.

''Please help me'' she said and lost consciousness.

Leo stared at the phone in his hand and furrowed his brows. Those three word kept ringing in his ears and he immediately dialled another number as he ran out of the house.

''Nester, can you locate a number for me? I will send it to your right now'' he took his car keys from the kitchen counter and rushed out.
