Author's note: this is from Seraphina's point of view

I followed Vesper through the dense foliage, wondering if she knew where we were going. If it was Lazarus or my father, I knew they could see in the dark, but I was unsure if witches had that ability.

I remembered that walking through the darkness was always challenging. I would hold Duke's hand and rely on him to guide him, but this time it was different. It was dark, yet I could see every rock, branch, and root sticking from the ground. This was not normal, but then... many things were changing since Duke marked me.

"Did we get lost?" I asked, and Vesper chuckled in response.

She was enjoying this.

With every passing minute, my anxiousness increased as I remembered the last time Vesper brought me into the woody area. It was Misty Forest, full of dangers, and I had no idea what I was doing.
