Laying it out

The place was a little bigger and fancier on the inside, the walls had numerous portraits of different people of various races, each of them were taking a bite outta a burger.

The floor was so white and clean I could almost see my own reflection, the cheerful atmosphere the patrons and staff of the restaurant gave off, and the smell..... mmmmm it's almost like I could taste the burgers....

However I couldn't enjoy the scenery thanks to Arthur's mad ramblings and scribbling, Sir George and Vince's intense gaze, Pedro's condescending stare, Barney's loud chewing and Bradley's booming laughter.

".....You say you come from.... another world? One dominated by only humans, huh? Yeah I don't buy it, Vince? Georgie?" Barnsy asked in between his bites.

".....The Rookie isn't lying.... at the very least, he believes what he's telling us...." Vince muttered.

"Boy.... if I didn't have experience as a seer.... I'd think you'd lost your mind," Sir George added.

I shrugged my shoulders, yep I told them everything.... well not quite everything.... I left out Eureka and.... my true reason for seeking this adventure but everything else, I told them, that I'm from Florida, that I used to run odd jobs for this weird conspiracy nut named Kelvin, about my hobbies and my Family, about Cece and Fath- Dad and his family.....about that woman and the day everything went wrong....

It took me.... almost an hour to get everything out, I summarized it as best I could and they were patient enough to listen.... though their still dubious about it.

It's.... probably not wise laying it this thick, this soon I've known them for less than 2 weeks but.... it's best I at least start somewhere..... I want them to trust me.... or at least not be guarded.

"Hmmmm.... so this 'Earth' why'd you and your sister leave it?" Bradley asked.

"We.... we were searching for something..."

".... and you thought you'd find it in Garland?" Vince added.

"No,no.... we just got here by accident..... we weren't... well we're kinda clueless about this stuff!"

".....Not that surprising...." Pedro jabbed, what's with him? He's been glaring at me non stop ever since I started.

"You think I'm making this up?" I asked him.

"I think you're crazy.... and if for whatever reason you're actually serious.... then you're probably a fool!" he spat.

"....what?"

"Going on an adventure is one thing.... but what you're saying boy.... you threw away a probably well-off life just for something you're not sure of finding..." Sir George spoke.

".....Well either way, You must tell me more of this 'Earth', What are it's culture!? it's languages!? history!? I must know!" Arthur's Automaton roared, the Lizardman grabbed both my hands and stared at me..... fanatically, it was kinda creepy really, I shivered.

"Stop it Arthur, We're not done.... Look Rookie, let's say you are telling the truth.... you gotta be careful about who you tell this stuff too..." Vince voiced.

"What do you mean?"

"You know of Gallahan's Legacy?"

"Yeah... Art told me plenty about them..."

"You wouldn't want those guys invading your world now would you? that's what they'll do if they learn of stuff like dimension hopping.... besides not all races are fond of your kind..."

"I.... I didn't think about that..."

"You should boy," Sir George added, "You've got a good head on your shoulder but you're clueless about these kinda things... think deeply before you reveal these kind of things to strangers..." He continued.

"Strangers, huh...." Ouch that kinda hurt... it's the truth but it still hurts....

"Look on the brightside kid... at least.... well wow, I've got nothing! Emmm.... Brad? some words of wisdom from our dear captain!" Barney bellowed.

"Bahahaha, Jnr.... George.... is correct, you shouldn't be so quick to reveal such things... I'm glad you trust us somewhat but be careful is all we're saying," He bellowed, before putting his right hand on my Shoulder.... I thank God he didn't put weight on it, it's shifting my bone as it is.

"Well.... It's time for seconds!" Barney roared.

"You just ate 5 burgers..." I muttered.

"Yeah? I'm still hungry!"

"You had 8 before Jnr came in..." Pedro inputted...

"Yeah.... well, I'm still starving you know!? The docs at the lab said I'd better be in top top shape before the surgery!"

"So how'd it go?" Bradley asked....

"Well.... I'll give you guys the details later.... its eh... yeah I'll tell you later!" Barney laughed nervously.

".....Anyways, Boy, about your sister..." Sir George spoke.

"Yeah...?"

"if you wanna speak with her.... I can show you where you could contact her..."

"There's a place like that here!?"

"Yeah.... so far as you have the Dashy for it..."

"....How much are we talking?"

".....75k for 3hrs per week,"

I choked on my burger, "That's highway robbery!" I spat, Barney and Bradley laughed.

"So you won't do it?"

"....I... I never said that..." Seriously, I'd give any opportunity to speak with Cece again, this place is kinda wearing me out.

"Good... I'm heading over there tonight and I need to pick something along the way,"

"So... I'm your errand boy?"

Sir George smiled, "It'll be worth your time I promise!" He said.

I sighed and continued my meal.

The rest of the afternoon went by in a flash, we ate, Celebrated and even sang a few songs, I didn't know the words of anyone of them though, but it was fun, I hope we do this frequently inthe future.
