First Battle

Matthew felt a bit happy when he saw his status did have some changes. It was not a radical change in power, but it still showed that he had gained some strength, even if it was only small amount. This time, he wielded his sword so much better than his first time. Then, he opened the door of his room and...

Matthew spotted a body lying on the floor in front of his bedroom. It looked like it was his dorm neighbor as well as his classmate; Andrew.

Hearing the sound of the door being opened, Andrew started to rise from the floor and looked at him. Matthew was startled as he saw the face that was supposed to belong to Andrew was now rotten and ugly. Not to mention the stink that came from the supposed-to-be-Andrew. Those were enough to make him think that his classmate was no longer alive, or in other words, the one in front of him was now a zombie.

Sadness crept in his heart when he saw one of the people he knew had died and turned into a zombie. When he thought that this exact scene could happen to his parents as well, he could feel his heart tightened and he choke on the desperation that attacked him. Quickly he pushed that thought aside and focused on the entirely different thing when he faced the zombie Andrew.

"Holy shit, how could he decompose so fast?"

This took a long time to describe, but actually occurred in a very short time. But it was enough for Andrew to get up and run to attack Matthew. Due to his inexperience in combat, Matthew was caught off guard.

The zombie ran at relatively slow speed toward Matthew. Even though it was slow, his speed would not have made a big difference in a space of 2 meters. Matthew was surprised and frightened as he kicked Andrew away and then ran down the hall to create a distance between him and Andrew.

In the next second, unfortunately, Andre managed to caught up with him. With his tremendous ferocity and strength that was twice of any ordinary human, Andrew tried to pluck Matthew's arm.

But, this time Matthew was fully prepared for the attack. He made a sharp attack with the intention of cutting Andrew's arm, puting all his strength in that cut since he thought it would be very difficult to cut due to the high constitution of the zombie. However, he lost his balance when he cut the zombie's arm like a piece of tofu, giving Andrew a chance to strike again. Still a bit surprised that he could cut the arm easily, he couldn't dodge when the strike came again and hit his barrier again. The impact of this strike was even greater than the first time because of his running speed.

Matthew lost four mana points and began to feel despair. He was just an ordinary zombie and this fight already cost him six of his ten mana points, what to expect when he encountered more zombies or more evolved monsters?

Again, another four mana points were spent to resist the impact damage, reducing his mana to nothing. But it still did not stop him from getting half stunned due to collision. Pulling himself to stand on his feet again, he saw Andrew running with his slow speed toward him and a horrid thought crossed his mind.

"Is this my end? Am I going to die because of a zombie? A TUTORIAL MONSTER ?!" He nearly screamed in his mind due to the frustration.

As he was still cursing his luck in despair, he soon remembered that his sword came with a skill; more specifically [Light Ki]. Without hesitating even just for a bit, he used this ability and aimed his sword toward Andrew's head.

Unfortunately, due to his desperation and low skill-fighting experience, he could only shave his head. But, to his surprise, it was the enough to finish Andrew. When a part of the beam of light struck his head, it melted his skull along with his brain.

Zombie Andrew fell down on the floor of the hall, this time, he could never rise again.
