[A/N: Updated Status at the very end of the chapter]
[Paths: Survivor I (0/25), Forager I (0/25), Primitive Builder II (0/25)]
With three paths before me, I decided to fill both Survivor and Forager since they were bound to be somewhat helpful, leaving me with 157 PP.
Starting with survivor, every 5 PP, I got 10 Health Points, Stamina, 1 HP Regen, or 1 SP Regen.
[Path Completion Rewards: +1 Vitality, Endurance, and Perception. +25 Health and Stamina. You have gained the skill, Iron Stomach Lvl 1]
[While many don't know the difficulties of surviving without the assistance of others or technology, you were forced into this situation, you will either die or live to overcome the challenges of nature]
That skill should be somewhat helpful, although I doubt by much.
As for forager, it gave me 3 free stats after filling the path with 25 PP.
[Path Completion Rewards: +2 Free Stats. +15 Stamina. You have gained the skill, Forager's Instinct Lvl 1]
[While some stick to farming or hunting, you started off by foraging and living off the land]
That should also be useful, and it is somewhat annoying that the system does not include descriptions for these skills.
[Paths: Survivor II (0/50), Forager II (0/50), Primitive Builder II (0/25)]
Seeing that the two paths doubled in size, I chose to fill all three of the available paths in one go, leaving me with 32 PP remaining.
For the survivor path, I found that through the first 25 PP, the rewards were the same as the other path, but then a message seemed to appear before me.
[You have stumbled upon a branch in the path, to the left is the path of war and violence, and to the right is a path that leads further into the woods, note that whichever you choose, it will affect the rest of this path]
Hmm...which one should I choose?
I assume the first branching path would lead to me having greater chances of surviving a battle, while the right would lead to a better chance of surviving in the wild.
While the second would be very useful, so would the first...
But both are so vague that I had no idea which to pick.
In the end, after a few minutes of thinking about it, I chose the left path.
[Heading deeper into this path may scar you with the horrors of war, death, destruction, and ruin, are you prepared for what lies ahead?]
"I am," I told the system.
Then I found my 'Avatar' walking down the left path, where the skies were dark and gloomy and the lands wholly ruined.
From here, I found that every 5 PP gave me 15 Hp, 15 Stamina, or 1 to all regeneration.
[Path Completion Rewards: +5 Free Stats. +50 HP and SP. You have gained the skill, Second Wind Lvl 1]
[While this path is not for those faint of heart, you proceeded with strides towards the gloomy battlefield with the determination of survival]
As for the Forager II Path, it gave me the same reward of a free stat every 10 PP.
[Path Completion Rewards: +4 Free Stats. +1 Perception. You have gained the skill, Forager's Thumb Lvl 1]
[While the path of a Forager is often dull and tedious, its essential for survival, and a Forager must always try to avoid damaging the food or items being extracted]
Then for Primitive Builder II, I got a point for Strength, Perception, or Control every 5 PP.
[Path Completion Rewards: +1 to Strength, Perception, and Control. +5 Stamina Per Level. You have gained the skill, Builder's Insight Lvl 1]
[While your current work is still relatively primitive, in time, it shall grow and become more complex in design, functionality, and strength. All primitive constructs of your creation are now 5% more durable and effective]
Seeing the mostly same message, I was happy with the 10% bonus for durability and effectiveness my creations now had. However, when I examined all of my creations, I did not notice a single difference between them before and after.
[9th Day]
By the time two more days passed, I had already made a Fishing Net to trap fish in the river and spread out a dozen small game traps that hopefully might catch me some meat.
The food they served us as Younglings was quite horrible, I must say. I learned that the higher you are ranked, the better you are treated, including meals.
So, Younglings mostly got only scraps and poor quality meals to eat.
I'd much rather catch and cook my own food than eat the meals provided to Younglings, which is why I decided to take on this challenge when it first appeared.
And speaking of catching my own food, I did catch some fish from the fishing net in the river and made sure to cook them over a fire before eating them along with some simple juice I managed to create from some fruit.
I also happened to get a skill from eating one of the strange-looking fish!
[Poison Resistance Lvl 1]
Seeing only a few points of my HP tick down, I shrugged and went back to eating.
[Poison Resistance Lvl 2]
[Poison Resistance Lvl 3]
[Poison Resistance Lvl 4]
By the time I finished the strange fish, I had lost 11 HP and reached level four in poison resistance.
Then in a small amount of time, I simply regenerated all of my lost HP, as if I never lost it in the first place.
Shrugging once again, I continued eating.
This leads to yet another thing I have noticed, I certainly had to eat and consume more food than a human as I grew in age.
In fact, I have been eating so much that I have already eaten most of the edible vegetation nearby my simple hut.
Which led me to starting another project, a small farm.
Sure, it will take a while to bear fruit, and the plants might not even grow by the time my trial is finished, but I felt like doing it anyway to pass the time and ease my boredom.
And because I managed to do so many things faster than I previously expected, I might enter the dungeon in a few days instead of the end of the month.
Little did I know that I would have a special visitor that very night.
