Sakamaki Izayoi is a bored teenager who's always looking for a little excitement. One day, however, excitement comes looking for him in the form of a strange letter falling from the sky. What do you desire? Disclaimer: I don't own Tower of God, or Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They? It's shocking, I know. I only write this for fun and others’ potential enjoyment. I also don’t own the cover photo, I just found it online, if the owner of the photo asks me to, I’ll remove it.
Sakamaki Izayoi was having a bad day or at least a boring one; it was the same thing for all he cared.
"Gah, I'm so bored! There's gotta be something fun to do somewhere. If I could find some way to monetize my boredom, I'd make a fortune!"
Izayoi spoke to himself as he was currently laying on a shady hill near a river. His medium-length, downward spiking hair was held in place by a pair of headphones he wore on his head, and his purple eyes were currently closed. Those who didn't know the blonde teenager would mistake the look on his handsome features for contentment, but in truth, he was just bored. Terribly, horrendously bored.
Across a path at the bottom of the hill, on the bank of the river, five or six delinquent looking thugs were standing in a circle. In the center of the group of thugs, a nerdy-looking boy was on his hands and knees, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. The thugs were stepping on the boy and kicking him repeatedly. At one point, they even mentioned tossing him the river and started to pull the kid's pants off, claiming they were doing him the favor of helping him avoid his clothes getting wet.
The voices and laughter of the delinquents drifted all the way to where Izayoi was lying with his hands under his head. The bullying went on for a few minutes, and their annoying laughter began to grate at Izayoi's keen ears. Eventually, he sat up, brushing the grass off his dark blue school uniform and grabbing a rock lying on the ground nearby. Izayoi stood up while shouting,
"Hey! You bastards shouldn't hog all the fun!"
With those words, Izayoi threw the rock in his hands towards the group on the river bank. As the stone left his hands, it quickly broke the sound barrier with a sonic boom. The rock began to glow red hot from the friction caused by air resistance as it flew passed the group and into the river. With a thunderous noise, the river seemed to explode in a shower of water and dust. The shockwave from the explosion knocked the thugs off their feet and sent them flying in all directions. Screams of terror and confusion rang out from the group, delinquents, and bullied kid alike. Izayoi grabbed more stones from the ground and continued to throw them, causing explosion after explosion to go off in the river. While laughing Izayoi called out,
"Had enough yet? I could toss these around all day!"
While struggling to stand up one of the thugs noticed him and said to his friends,
"Shit, it's Sakamaki Izayoi! Run!"
At his words, all of the thugs and even the nerdy-kid managed to stumble to their feet and quickly beat a speedy retreat. While this was going on, Izayoi continued throwing rocks all the while laughing like a mad man. After a while, he finally stopped his assault on the poor river and called jovially,
"Haha, what's the matter, guys? Don't tell me you're already done playing our little game!"
After a few minutes of no response, the dust finally settled to reveal a badly cratered but otherwise empty riverbank. The smile gradually fell from Izayoi's face as he tossed the rock still in his hand to the side. He bent down to pick up his book bag while sullenly saying,
"Aaand, I'm bored again."
Just as Izayoi was about to leave, a sound from behind him caused him to pause. It sounded like the ringing of a bell, and he turned around to see a letter falling from the sky. The letter continued to fall until it reached about eye level with Izayoi, where it stopped, floating in mid-air. The envelope was pitch black and was adorned with flowing gold script that read,
Sakamaki Izayoi.
Seeing the strange letter addressed to him, Izayoi slowly reached out and grabbed it. He didn't know where it came from, but it sure as hell seemed a lot more interesting than anything else he had going on. Opening the letter, Izayoi pulled out what appeared to be a postcard. The card was just as black as the envelope had been and there was an intricate gold border surrounding words written in the same flowing gold script,
What do you desire? Money and wealth? Glory? Honor and pride? Authority and power? Revenge? Or something that transcends all of them? Whatever you desire - is in here. Tower of God.
After he finished reading, Izayoi looked at the letter carefully. He scrutinized every detail from the intricate gold border to the exquisite calligraphy of the words. He didn't know if this was someone's idea of a practical joke, but what he did know is that if such a place truly existed, it would surely be a lot of fun. Then the world around him went dark.
