Unveiling Shadows
Previously:
They arrived at Pagoda Supermarket. Lai followed Bai as he picked up the items they needed. She tried to help, but her clumsiness was evident as she knocked over a stack of canned goods.
Bai chuckled, trying to lighten the mood, "You're not usually this clumsy, you know."
Lai pouted, "Well, I don't know what's usual for me anymore."
They continued shopping. As they turned down an aisle, a group of menacing men in leather jackets blocked their path.

Lai froze, her heart racing as fear gripped her.
One of the men sneered, "Well, well, well. If it isn't that darn cat's little saviour that sent some of my men to hospital and jail."
Lai's mind raced, but she couldn't recall which cat these men were talking about. The only cat she knew was the one at Bai's house.
And he didn't tell her anything about being the cat's so-called saviour.
