Long San in his last life only used two types of spirit pets.
Though there were tons of types of spirit pets, beasts, dragons, phoenix's, he more than anything else only wanted control type abilities. Insects and Dark angels were the two types of spirit pets he naturally gravitated towards. When he reached level 80, there was a certain phoenix he wanted to insert into his collection as well, however, he was a long way from making that happen.
"Long San, these are the spirit pets you wanted to see. All our Insect type spirit pets in the god rank. The starting bid for each one is 2,000,000 Spirit medium grade tokens. Are you fine with that?"
"Yes, and what do I do? I place a bid and then someone has another 5 minutes to place a counter bid."
"Yes, we have an interesting way of doing this," The lay replied and pointed at a spirit machine on the wall. "That is called a bidding machine. Each spirit pet has a certain amount of bids placed on it the day we catch it, and then the highest bid usually gets it."
It was basically a simple bidding system to make sure they got the maximum amount of money. The bidding machine took a maximum of 10 bids for each spirit pet that they were selling, without disclosing the number of the other bids, and the person with the highest bid won.
They kept it blind so no one would realize what other would bidding and bid as much as they thought someone else would pay. Since it was only 10 bids a day, by keeping it blind, they made a lot more money.
"By any chance, what's your strongest insect spirit pet you have with you today?" Long San tapped his finger impatiently. "Also, if I paid you 1 million spirit tokens, would you tell me the highest bid?"
"Haha, quite bold," The beautiful woman said. She pulled down one of the two golden pins she had in her hair and shook her head.
She got paid probably more a month than Long San could imagine. Spirit pet Palace was the richest out of all five branches. The five branches of the Tang Dynasty were the assassin league, the spirit pet palace, the apothecary fortress, the undying armor castle, and the Tang Militia.
The branches were five key pieces that every single major city in all of Tang Dynasty had. The militia, especially, was the most revered because they provided assistance if any wild spirit pets raided a city. However, no one beat Spirit Pet Palace in money. He had even heard that the Dragon Emperor of all of TAng Dynasty, was somewhat scared of the head elders of Spirit Pet Palace. Needless to say, he was probably terrifyingly strong.
The lady smiled to Long San and showed her the one spirit pet she thought he might be able to afford. After all, her sources had told her the Blue Merchent Sect had acquired quite a lot of money recently.
"This is called the Night Panic Blood Gu. I can tell you this since you're so charming. The top bid is not over 20 million Spirit Tokens. I can tell you at least that."
'You can probably only tell me that because it's way over the current bidding price.' Long San looked up at the lady's beautiful golden eyes and trembled. "This-this insect isn't even good enough to beat my Silver String Insect! What kind of joke are you trying to pull?!"
Long San had seen thousands of spirit pets in his days, and could tell the lady was trying to scam him. She was wearing a golden dress, and wasn't trying to hide her ample features. She probably expected long San to blush and instantly bid all his money, but she was very wrong!
"Let me see the entire catalog. Including any unlabeled spirit pets. The ones that ranks couldn't be determined."
"Hmmm, Do you not like what I'm showing you," The lady licked her lips and smiled at Long San. "You know. I get a 3 percent commission fee. If you spend more than 500,000 Spirit Tokens, I'll do anything you want."
"I'll pass," Long San gently nudged the beautiful woman aside and walked over to the catelog. "Let's see, there is a Lotus nest Gu here. I'm guessing someone already offered 20 million spirit tokens... A Great Singing scorpion, and a-A! AHA! This is what I wanted! A Mantis Nest Gu. Wow, you hardly ever find them in the God rank!"
"Did you find something adequate after you rudely moved me away. You realize I'm level 50 right?" The woman leaned on the desk and stared into Long San's eyes. "This-this one you can't bid on." She closed the book on Long SAn. "That's a Mantis Nest Gu. You have to get certification to own one. They are perfect for evil spiritualists. Not that I doubt you, but it's off the table."
"I'll bid 30 million Spirit Tokens!"
"I'm on the table now," The woman smiled and patted Long SAn on the back. "You mind getting certification after? Is that alright?"
Certification had to be got for certain spirit pets by passing tests. These tests were challenges that someone like Long San would obviously never be able to pass and were meant to test spirit affinity.
There were different types of spirit affinity, and Long San had no doubt his was the evil or Deranged type. They would only sell a Mantis Nest Gu to someone that had a noble, knightly, or probably divine spirit affinity. However, that didn't mean he couldn't bribe someone to take the test for him. All he needed was a license to use it after all. It's not like Spirit Machines had gotten to the point where they could take pictures! It should be no problem for him to purchase one after this!
"I-I would like to add to my bid." Long San took out 15 Insect Dragon cores and put them between his and the lady's beautiful chest. He quickly got them out from his spatial ring which she also found quite impressive. "These should be worth at least a million spirit tokens right?"
"I'll assess them and place your bid. Please go wait out in the VIP room." The lady smiled and took Long San's tokens and gladly left. If everything goes well, you'll be receiving your spirit pet by night fall."
