15 Third Spirit Pet

Lan Sen spent roughly a week training his spirit pets before he was beginning to feel more safe.

Unfortunately, soon, he'd have to take the risk of getting a 3rd spirit pet. His overall level would drop and he'd be in danger for quite a while. It was one of the risks of getting stronger in this world, but also one of its greatest rewards.

'When you get another spirit pet, they will always be level 1. Therefore, if you have 2 level 50 spirit pets, your overall level will drop to about level 33. Your strength and speed will likewise drop for a while too until your new spirit pet catches up to your previous spirit pets.'

'However, In just a few weeks, the bonus of having a third spirit pet will reveal itself.'

Long San had done some basic training in the last few weeks to strengthen his body, and had fed the Grey Lord Caterpillar over 300 level 50 spirit pet carcasses.

Each carcass cost him over 1000 spirit tokens, but it was worth it. His Grey Lord Caterpillar was now level 50! His Silver String Insect wasn't actually fairing any worse and had reached level 50 as well! He bought it hundreds of silver leaf plants to devour1 Like most insects, if you gave it the right food, it would exponentially grow!

'I now am confident I can get a third spirit pet.' Long San tactfully snuck out the back of his house like always to make sure that no one was spying on him.

In the last few weeks, he'd noticed that the White Sect had sent quite a few people to follow him. He was obviously a suspect in Lan Sen's death, but not one that even the investigators were taking seriously.

He sighed, and jumped up to the roof top of a building on and then darted as fast as he could towards the Spirit Pet Palace. Spirit Pet Palace was one of the five main branches of the Tang Dynasty that could be found in almost any town. There, you could place bids on Spirit Pets from local areas and even sell carcasses, cores, and other items.

Now that Long San had a small reputation, he planned on selling some carcasses here today.

He smiled, and felt his agility take him aptly into the wind! He was getting faster at at least a 10 times faster rate than his last life!

"Halt!" A guard outside of the Spirit Pet Palace said, "What are you in such a rush for? You know the rules. Pay the toll."

'Such scum bags. There is no toll, but they charge one,' Long San took out 5 spirit tokens and tossed them at the guards. "Split that amongst yourselves, and have fun tonight."

"Haha, what a great kid, but the toll went up."

"I'm giving 5 to each of you. If you ask for more, I'll kill you," Long San sgihed and looked at the men one more time before they opened up the doorway to the spirit pet palace.

HE looked in front of him and immediately saw the most plain room he'd ever been in. The walls seemed to be made out of mud, and besides for a few plants, it looked nothing like a palace. More like a hole in the dirt.

'They must have designed it this way to make it more natural for spirit pets to be kept here. Oh well, as long as they have the spirit pet I'm looking for. I took 30,000,000 spirit tokens from my father without knowing, but can he really complain? I have him over 49 million!"

Long San sighed and waited by the entranceway as he studied some of the carvings on the walls. He wasn't sure how long he'd have to wait and got impatient. Luckily, it seemed he wasn't the only one here today.

"Han Man, how are you doing?" Long San smiled and waved. "Aw, did your dad say he'd buy you another spirit pet? I thought he lost all his savings betting against me."

"I-I lost. Just leave me alone," Han Man crossed his arms. "What? You want to fight me again. I reached level 35 overall. Hmph, but I'm in no rush to get revenge. Wait until the scouts come in three weeks."

"You look like you're about to cry. Calm down." Long San patted Han Man on the back. He might make a great lackey soon. After all, when he was fighting him in the ring, he noticed something strange about him.

Long SAn had an acute sense for evil spirit pets that he developed in his life. He developed it after being in control of Evil Spirit pets for over a 100 years. They had distinct auras compared to normal spirit pets, and he could almost pick one out from thousands if he had to. Han Sen's spirit pet was definitely evil! He had no idea that his steel jaw bird he was so proud of would soon probably kill him, or worse, make him kill everyone he loved!

'I would never foolishly accept a spirit pet that approached me in the wilderness. You have to crush a spirit pet in battle, pretty much annihilate it, if you want it to listen to you. You, on the other hand, trusted that a divine rank spirit pet really wanted to join you just for protection? You're out of your mind!'

"You-you saved me sister." Han Man sighed and shook his head. "Anyways, I guess since no one is here I can say you fought well. Do you know spirit techniques or something? Where did you learn those moves?"

"I can teach you one if you come to my house later. However, just a warning, don't get anything stronger than your Steel Jaw Bird today. If you don't listen, don't blame me if something happens to you."

"Huh, such strange advice. I couldn't afford one anyway. Those cost over a million spirit tokens," Han Man watched a lady come in and call Long San's name. "Anyways, my father is really mad at you. Just thought I'd warn you since you're being so nice."

'Nice only because you might die today,' Long San waved and followed after the woman in the green skirt with a short white top on. "Now, let's hope they have the insect spirit pet that I'm looking for!"
