Around the same Time...
Aiden continued to walk towards the library. As he continued to walk towards, the library, he thought about what had just happened. He couldn't understand why the police would let him go that easily. There was definitely something going on.
Walking towards the library, he continued to ponder about his fight with Ghost Face. The short fight had provided him some clues concerning how strong the people in this world were.
'How was I able to do that? How was I able to fight him? Did he not take the fight seriously?' Aiden pondered as he continued walking down the street. He couldn't believe that he was able to fight Ghost Face. According to some rumours that he heard in his other world, Ghost Face was a martial artist and a very strong one at that. In fact, all those who encountered him described him as very strong and dangerous.
'Why did I attack? Was it to take revenge for Ghost Face nearly hitting me with his hoverboard?' Aiden continued to think.
At this moment, he was absolutely confused about what was going on. Not only was he able to keep up during his fight with Ghost Face, but he was also able to counterattack after the first attack. He couldn't believe it. It was as if something controlled him and made him fight Ghost face.
Truth was, Aiden thought that this was likely to be true. During his fight with ghost Face, he heard a voice. The moment he heard the voice, his body automatically moved in the way the voice spoke. It was as if he was being controlled by the voice in his head.
"Something has changed..." Aiden mumbled under his breath as he looked at his hand.
"Wait, someone is following me?"
Aiden muttered a second later as he looked at the man following him with the side of his eyes. The man wore casual clothes that made him look like any other citizen. However, Aiden was able to quickly realize that the man was one of the cops from the police squad he had just encountered.
"Just as I guessed, They aren't that stupid"
Aiden thought as he began to increase his walking pace knowing that someone was spying on him.
At first, Aiden was shocked by the reason why the police sent him away without asking many questions. It seemed like they were going to use another method for their investigations. They would spy on him.
Unfortunately for them, they had the wrong person if they thought that they could spy on him. For some reason, he was able to notice the man following him even before the man got the chance to get close. It was as if he knew everything that was going on around him.
After walking for a while, Aiden suddenly took a quick curve entering an alley between two buildings. However, contrary to his expectations, the man didn't actually follow him into the alley just like any bad stalker would do. he just went straight ahead to make it seem that he wasn't following Aiden.
"What a good spy," Aiden smiled as he looked at the walls around him, "Unfortunately for him, I have two skills that would guarantee my escape!"
All of a sudden Aiden suddenly leapt towards one of the buildings. Using his hands and feet to create a propelling force, he jumped to the other, repeating the process until he got to the ceiling of the buildings.
"Huh? what is this?" Aide muttered as he looked behind him. There was a blinking sticker on the floor which seemed to have dropped from his clothes.
"Wait, it's a spy gadget?"
Picking up the sticker, Aiden couldn't help his shock. The sticker he picked from the floor was clearly a spy gadget. Even though it was really tiny Aiden was able to see it.
"Oh, so that was why he just passed by. They had information about my location, so there was no need to track me down by spying directly. The man is pretty smart. Thank goodness that I was able to locate this, else I would have sent it home!"
Aiden threw the spy gadget back into the alley he was in before continuing his journey to the library.
*****
In the meantime.....
The spy following Aiden suddenly stopped moving as he stared at the device in his hands in surprise.
"He has stopped moving?" he muttered still staring at the device in his hands. The device was a tablet that displayed the map of the city in great detail. On the map was a small dot that signified the location of Aiden who had suddenly stopped moving.
"That isn't right!" said the spy as he looked at the map, "This device would show the slightest signs of movement. could he have found out?"
Thinking of this possibility, the spy immediately turned around and headed back for the alley Aiden previously went to.
"This...."
However, after he got to the alley he couldn't see Aiden there. In fact, there was no evidence that Aiden had ever been here. The only thing he could see was the regular flash of red light coming from a corner in the alley.
"This... He escaped," the spy said in a daze as he looked at the tracker in his hand, "I have to report to the boss..."
*Swoosh!*
Clicking the watch on his wrist, a holographic picture of the policeman who had earlier interrogated Aiden appeared in front of him.
"Did something happen?"
"Em... The target escaped!" the spy stuttered as he struggled to deliver the news.
"Wait, What?"
*********
Around the same time, Aiden was also walking towards the library. He was sure that the police must have figured out by now that he had escaped.
However, he simply didn't care. After all, the policemen should have informed him before putting the tracker on him.
They had no right to put the tracker on him without informing him. Truth was, if they really wanted to monitor him, they could have just arrested him. He didn't understand why they had to resort to such underhanded methods.
After walking for a while, Aiden got to the library. However, after getting there, he couldn't help but be surprised.
The Library had a sleek and modern look which resembled a work of contemporary art, its asymmetrical design drawing the eye. Even without paying attention, ones would still notice the presence of the Library as its presence couldn't be ignored.
Even so, it wasn't these features that surprised him. If anything, the building looked the same in his other world. What really surprised him was the aura that a massive building was giving out.
The building radiated a holy and incomprehensibly divine aura. It was as if it was the place where all the knowledge in the world could be found.
After staring at the massive building for a while, Aiden proceeded to walk into the library. The interior of the library looked just as magnificent as it looked on the outside. The interior of the library was plated with huge metallic panels that gave the building a cool and futuristic vibe.
As Aiden walked towards the circulatory desk, he couldn't help but marvel at the sight.
"When did this place seem so alive?" Aiden muttered. He realized that something was different the moment he stepped into the library. Even though there was almost no one in the library, the library felt alive.
This was what confused him. Aiden was no stranger to the library. In fact, he had been here multiple times (in his previous life that is) and was a regular visitor. However, he had never felt the library feel so alive. This never happened, even when the library organised national book reading day.
"Surprised, huh?" Aiden heard a familiar voice from behind him. Turning in the direction of the sound, he found a young woman standing behind him with some books in her hands.
"Oh, so it's you, Chelsea. You nearly scared me to death," Aiden said awkwardly.
"Don't worry, it's alright," Chelsea replied.
"Let me help you with that," Aiden said before taking the books from Chelsea's hands who muttered a 'thank you' in return.
Chelsea was the librarian. She had been in the library since Aiden could remember. Due to the fact that Aiden frequently visited the library to borrow some books, he came to know her. After some time, they picked up and became friends.
"So, What happened here?" Aiden asked.
"Hm, they replaced the library core..."
"Wait, what? How were they able to do it so quickly?" Aiden asked. He remembered Chelsea telling him about the mayor about to change the library core. The library core was the thing that powered the entire library.
"I have no idea. However, I know why it's made the library feel this way...." said Chelsea piquing Aiden's curiosity. Aiden couldn't help but be curious. After all, how much power must be used to make the library this way?
"They made it using Magical core," said Chelsea with a smirk on her face as if it was some kind of accomplishment.
"Magic core?" Aiden muttered surprised by what he was hearing, "What the hell is that?"
