The Days When I’m With You

In the ocean of strangers, among billions of passerby, I who was reborn as Li Fei chanced upon you. And just like birds of the same feather, we flocked together. Seeking love and filling the empty hole, thinking the possibility of “us” that remained unknown. I couldn’t promise you my heart or forever. But know that if we did end up missing each other, please remember there was a time when we were in each other’s arms. There was a time when I had been your stranger and you had been mine. —————— “Woman, you should know that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!” I sneered, “And do you wanna know the way to a woman’s heart?” “What?” I whispered closely to his ear, “It’s when the man do all the work for us.” Him, “...” With my index finger, I lifted his chin. “So, who’s gonna cook later?” “I shall gladly serve you, My Lady.” ________________ Follow my ig: @author_kiiara [Cover: credits to the artist | Source: Pinterest]

The Crazy “Wife”

Be..p.... beep....

A weak beeping sound from the monitor showing the heart rates of the patient filled the quiet VIP ward.

The woman who had been drenched under the rain a couple of hours ago was presently lying on the bed. She had been cleaned thoroughly beforehand and was now dressed in a new hospital gown.

Unlike her defeated expression from just now, she looked serene with her eyes tightly shut, but at the same time feeble and defenseless.

Despite the steady vital signs, her face that was devoid of any color was very much discernible along with her dry pale lips. Furthermore the dark lines under her eyes intensified her sickly appearance.

But above all that, there was somehow a deafening stillness around her, an air so tranquil it evoked the feeling of grief and loneliness. The kind of solitude that was not there by choice but from being abandoned.

The very sight of the woman lying lifeless and her deathly pale skin with the icy touch of coldness from it, if one did not see the small movement of her chest heaving up and down, they could mistakenly thought she was no longer alive.

But there she was, lying quietly on the bed hovering in between the shadow of darkness and light.

The white curtain blocking the light from coming in had only missed a line of light flashing across the cold tile of the hospital ward.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open. A nurse quietly walked in. She took the paper board from the table at the foot of the bed and began filling in the empty table on the sheet according to the data shown in the monitor.

When she saw the number, she sighed. She glanced at the frail woman.

It was clear from her eyes, the nurse felt pity towards the woman. She was also a woman herself. She had been in love as well and she knew how much love could consume one's entire being and sometimes to the point of madness.

The nurse put down the board and took hold of the woman's hand.

"Madam Lu.." she stopped before sighing and corrected her words, "Miss Huang," she called softly.

"I know it's hurting right now and I know it may be hard but, if you learn to let go, you will eventually find your way back to happiness. I hope when you wake up once again, you will realize that and move forward instead of dwelling in false hope."

She smiled before continuing, "As a woman who had been through the same heartbreak as yours, I pray for your wellness."

Though Miss Huang might not have anyone by her side anymore, no one waited upon her, and no one praying for her to awaken once more, the nurse who had once felt what Miss Huang was feeling right now prayed that this woman could stand on her own feet again like she was now.

"Miss Huang," she said, "I shall leave now. I will come back later when my shift has finished. I will attend to you again."

With that, she walked out from the room. The stifling silence returned once more.

The woman, Huang Li Fei, had been announced dead exactly at the stroke of midnight yesterday.

No one, not a single friend or family, even her famous husband was by her side. Only a single bodyguard was there, just for the sake of confirming the situation to the so-called husband.

From the start when she had been sent to the hospital, she had been alone in her struggle to live.

The doctor was told that the woman had stabbed a knife to her own chest and it had already been almost half an hour before they found her. The wound was deep and glaring under her garment. It was a bloody scene.

Clearly, she was a daring woman and she had no regard of her life anymore at that point.

But it didn't come as a surprise to anyone that this woman would be brave enough to do it. Who didn't know this drama queen, Huang Li Fei, the wife of Lu Tianfeng, the sole heir to the Lu Financial Group?

The empty title of "wife" was branded to this woman since two years ago. It had been quiet then and everyone thought Li Fei was the luckiest woman on earth who could tie a knot with the domineering CEO of the biggest Financial Group in Country S.

How could she not be?

The power and wealth of the Lu family could basically feed her twelve generations. Their resources were overflowing.

It was like a jackpot, everyone had said. Although the Huang family themselves was quite prominent, they were still far below the Lu family. It was akin to a royal family and the aristocrat under their feet.

However, it was only later when the public finally realized, the title "wife" which she had held was simply useless.

Not even once they saw Lu Tianfeng attending social events with Li Fei by his side. It was either he ran solo or with another woman. Each time it was a different one too. Until it stopped after half a year of their wedding.

From then onward, it was always the same woman, Hua Ling from the Hua Financial Group. Her family background was above Li Fei and everyone knew the Hua family and the Lu had long been business partner. Hence, it was not strange if it was Hua Ling in the end.

"They suit each other," everyone said.

"Yes. A pair of jade annulus."

At that point, the public thought, for sure, a divorce would soon be ensued. But to their surprise, there was nothing in the news.

However, Lu Tianfeng continued to appear with Hua Ling beside him whenever he attended parties. It quickly garnered curiosity from the society and the media had started sniffing around.

Until one day, came the news, the wife of Lu Tianfeng, Li Fei was caught slapping Hua Ling in public and had fiercely pulled her hair until the other party was left disheveled and in tears.

The title was especially intriguing, "The Wife Taught the Mistress a Lesson."

But that had evoked a series of laughter from the public. Who's the wife and who's the mistress here?

Nevertheless, the next day, another news came out that said the Huang Group stock had suddenly plunged.

They didn't have to second guess it. The "wife" had received her punishment. At this point, everyone had basically made a joke out of the young lady of the Huang family. And they fully supported Hua Ling.

This was when everything started. Li Fei began her series of drama where she started to act like a victim and pushed the blame to Hua Ling which in the end was exposed by Lu Tianfeng. Then when she couldn't lay a hand on Hua Ling, she went straight to Lu Tianfeng and did what a typical mistress would do but yet again it failed.

Every scheme of hers failed one after another until she made a name for herself, "Drama Queen".

It was only after every single plan of hers had gone wrong that she chose the last resort. Threatened the husband with suicide.

But clearly, she had underestimated her husband stone cold heart. Instead of panicking, he remained unfazed as he smacked her face with a divorce paper.

With a belly full of anger, she stabbed herself. Yet, he still walked away. Not until half an hour later, he asked his people to drag her to the hospital as if believing that she wouldn't survive anyway. He only wanted to avoid being the reason of her death.

People would then think at least he cared enough to send her to the hospital. It was the wife who had been crazy from the start.

When after the long wait, finally Li Fei's death was announced at midnight, as if it was a blessing from God, you could hear some people breathed a sigh of relief, including her own family sadly.

None of them shed tears or even felt pity towards Li Fei. Their only thought was "the crazy mistress had finally passed away."

The bodyguard had reported to his boss, Tian Feng, when the news of her death came out. The only reply he gave was a simple scoff before hanging up as if it was an insignificant news.
