Chapter Fifteen: First Challenge

Walking away from that proud girl wasn't one of my best features if I may say, but for her giving that attitude was too much for me. She was different from the others, so definitely she would be hard to get rid of.

But knowing Ralph likes me was an advantage that gave me joy. He was always so sweet and loving towards me. I made my way right into my room, alongside my maid. I sat down weakly on the arm of my chair with my legs crossed.

I looked up at my maid.

"Go get my pink dress, the one I choose for a special occasion. That is what I will be wearing today".

I took off my clothes to get myself ready for tonight. I walked into the wash room and waited for her to come wash me up and pamper my skin to look flawless.

The beauty of every woman shows off on her skin, the more beautiful, smooth and soft your skin is, the more the men will want to have you. My wolf, who was loving the pampering the maid was giving to us, could not help but pounce within me. I had to control myself so as not to look so impressed with what she was doing.

As soon as we were done, we made our way back into the room to get me prepared. It was very difficult before I could get myself fitted into the dress . Then we made our way out. I loved to be early for any occasion I was invited to, courtesy of the kind of mother I have that has kept the family going, if not one might not really be amongst the Nobel anymore.

Two of the maidens were around and it was rumoured that the last lady would join us for dinner, not that I oppose but too many maidens will be a risk for me emerging the winner.

But I just have to keep my cool and make sure that I do not get myself kicked out of the game. We were told that a series of games would be held to ascertain our ladylike character, acting and overcoming challenges. Lastly, making the alpha fall head over heels for you.

The last one will be easy for me, I know how to charm even the hardest of hearts. I made my way to sit, as we await the alpha and the rest of the maidens. When the alpha arrived, we stood up to greet him,

"Your grace" I said as I bowed and I stretched my hand forward for a kiss.

It was a Nobel way of showing respect for the alpha and he was more than grateful to get my hands pecked by him.

As we sat down and waited for Jackia who seemed to be running late, well it says so much for a warrior, but when she arrived she took the spotlight as usual but,I wasn't really happy that it would take me so much to hate her.

After dinner, the alpha took my hands as I was led to a private room, where we got to talk better. All I did was blush all throughout . Knowing fully well that we were quite close but not this close as I tried to kiss him but he turned his face for a peck instead which pissed me off but I didn't have any choice but to smile even though I felt hurt and embarrassed.

" Well, I guess your time is up, let me speak with the other maidens" he said as I had to stand up and make my way out of the room smiling not looking up at any of the maidens outside as I went right into the room. If it takes forever to get him to love me, I will make sure that I do and become the Luna of this kingdom.

I immediately changed Into my night dress with the complete help of my maid, my wolf wasn't happy either as she kept silent. I have to do this if not for myself but for my wolf and attain that power my mother was unable to.

Waking up the next morning, the first voice I heard was that of my maid.

"Miss Layla, you have to get up we need to be on the field this morning" I was still feeling sleepy, I still couldn't bring myself to comprehend what she was saying,

"What are you saying? What field are you talking about ?".

I asked her as I struggled to get up and sit up so I could listen properly and comprehend her.

"Well miss, you are to attend and participate in some shooting games and horse riding. It is part of the game, I was going to tell you all these but you were quite bothered about your dress" She said to me and I scuffed at her.

I guess I will be up for so many dramas every single day,

" What are you still doing there squiming like an old woman? come on let's go" I said as I stepped down from my bed and made my way right out of the room without hesitation.

We quickly pulled off my night dress, and got washed up as I dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt with a cow body hat with my hair packed down to enable me wear the cowboy cloth properly

As we made our way out to the field where everyone was already waiting for us, I walked to the right side of the field. I allowed my hair to be carried by the wind as I stood in awe under the Ray of the beautiful sun even though summer was approaching slowly one could still enjoy nature's beauty.

Jackia arrived late as usual making her self the centre of attention, properly I could teach her one or two lessons today, as she might be kicked off due to being weak. I would have to wait for an opportunity, I said to myself as my wolf smiled wickedly within me .

Then my attention was on the alpha as he stood far away, so tall and proud. He was the perfect king we needed, compassionate and on the other side strong, resilient and disciplined. I have once witnessed his skills on the Battlefield, even though I refused to join the warriors .

I was still as strong as the ones who joined.

" I welcome you maidens to this exercise. I know this might not be new to some of you" the alpha said as I walked towards the other maidens on the other side, watching as Jackia slowly sneaked in.

Knowing fully well that she was late, I decided to use it against her, but the alpha spoke up before I did.

"Someone just sneaked right in now, who knows they might end up not getting to the ritual day".

Ritual day? I asked out loud, but no one seemed to pay any attention to me, as they were all directed to stand before the alpha who has been observant all this while.

" I know I have not warmly welcomed you maidens, but that will be done after you've all passed the ritual processing".

The alpha said as we bowed before him,

"Okay Maidens, the first game is the bow and arrow"

"I don't think this kind of game is for us" my wolf said as I had to caution her ,

" Don't say that, we will have to get it done by all means ,we can't possibly lose, don't even think of it " I cautioned my wolf.

As the last maiden who joined was called out first, we were all given five arrows and we were to get three right, the fourth one perfect but we all know if you are not trained for something like this then definitely there is no way possible that you will be able to get even one right .

The first maiden that was called out failed , the second couldn't make the middle point, the third lady didn't even make it. I was nearly there. hen it was Jackia's turn, she got all five to meet the middle target and they all applauded her except me .

Then we moved to horse racing, we were to race with the alpha but this time, the alpha was in his wolf form. I have never seen a big white wolf in my entire life. I fell in love all him over again, then we all mounted any horse of our choice .

I watched Jackia pick a horse knowing fully well she will go for the strongest, I adamantly chose that horse, I could feel the death stare she was throwing at me but I do not care as I climbed onto the horse and rode it to the starting line.

After what looked like ages she finally made her way to the starting point with a white horse. It looked strong but not as strong as the one I rode ,

"Alright maidens, are you ready?" The Beta asked and we all shook our heads in response as we awaited his next words
