"Your silence tells me you will reject my argument but never mind, I m a very opinionated man and there is no changing my mind to letting you know that if you were a monster, I would be not walking alongside you...or risk my life to save yours, even though you do not need any saving by climbing tress to tress to find you after you left me hanging in that tree...

If you were a monster, or even close to it, I would have been long breathing less and dead, six feet under the ground."

By concluding whatever he felt like saying to her before she could read it from his mind, he began walking forward again and only stopped when she opened her mouth from behind.

"I did not to leave you behind...or at least did not mean to..."

"You do not owe me an explanation, Princess. It is fine!"

Ruqui interrupted her turning around and giving her a brief smile, he resumed to strode forward.

The Princess followed too without another word, slowly levitating in the air behind him as they traveled aimlessly across the forest, having no idea at all as to where they were going.

After walking for a few hours, Ruqui halted abruptly on his track making the Princess conscious.

"What is it?"

She asked getting close and then seeing it for herself. The view before their eyes...the scattered detached body of the giant snake cut into two.

"We have been traveling in the same loop for hours now...as it seems."

Ruqui concluded and sat down under the shade of the nearby tree, feeling tired and dejected.

But the Princess, she could not master the situation up in her head...or to think of a possible solution to resolve the problem.

"Do not worry, Princess...I think it is already night outside of the forest since my eyes feel drowsy. We can carry on the next day."

Ruqui stretched out his arms together, feeling the exhaustion even in his bones by then, leaning against the tree trunk.

"I do not have the time to rest."

Ambrosia snapped, looking away. She could tell that it must have been one whole day and a half already being inside the forest and so far she had no clue as to how she was going to find that which.

"What is your purpose to be in the forest?"

Ruqui could not help but ask the question that he had been wanting to know the answer to for a long by then.

"I entered the forest strictly out of a loose consciousness...meanwhile you, you willingly stepped in."

He had all the attention of the Princess, whose eyes were all over him.

The way she was staring down at him, nobody would dare to speak anymore further and even he would not either but by then spending so much time together, so far, her presence no longer made him feel threatened.

"I know you escaped from your wedding and came to the valley side.

I eloped from my home for the same reason but why choose the forest, knowing it is a forbidden place?"

And as expected, all he got was blind ass silence and intense staring as the answer.

He shrugged it off, turning around to face the other side to retire for the day, falling flat on the ground, his head and neck supported by the hard tree trunk.

"Good night to you too!"

He bid her and the quietness of the forest persisted in the air. He would not be lying if he did not still feel her eyes staring at his back.

Well, she was a vampiress. They were nocturnal creatures even though there were changes that they adapted to upon living in a shared civilization with mortals and many in the Kingdom of Saunders slept in the night only because all the business was done in the daytime.

'Maybe the palatial vampires were different?' He thought to himself.

And had no inkling as to when he dozed off but felt something wet dripping down on his face.

He rubbed it off with the back of his hand, still feeling sleepy but he felt it again.

When he bought his hand to check what it was...noticing the color red, it startled him right away making him sit up and look up at the tree, the sight he saw, made him scream out his lungs, standing up in terror.

Two pairs of red eyes, staring down at him, perched up on the tree, her hands dripping with blood, the two pointed teeth sucking off the content, anything that she could from the rodent-like creature.

He strode backwards, away from the tree, horrified, and then stepped on something that made him part his eyes off of from her and on the thing that he had put his feet on.

Lifeless bodies of rodents were everywhere...there was not a single spot left where it had not covered the ground...dozens and dozens of those.

It felt like as if he had been sleeping in between those dead creatures for so long when indeed he was.

She jumped down and was right before his face. Wiping the blood off with the back of her hand as if it was nothing.

Her eyes had gone back to being in the not-hunting mode.

"I had not had anything from the day I eloped from the palace."

She said and looked around at all the dead rodents' bodies on the ground, it felt as if she had murdered all the nearby communities of the species to satiate her thirst for blood.

"It really was not enough. All you get is barely one seep of it from their tiny bodies."

"So you desire for more?"

He questioned straight up. He could only ask himself how the hell he was not shitting himself when standing face to face with a bloodthirsty monster.

"I do..."

Ruqui felt like losing his soul when she admitted she did desire for more.

"But this will do for another seven days...do not worry!"
