Chapter Forty– I hate the distance
“The girl you hired, is my ex-wife.”
Oh my god! How stupid I can be? Why it did not click my mind? My mind was running a thousand miles per second. Why can’t the Ex’s stay in our past? First Victor, now Charlotte. Why god is doing this to me. I was disturbed. I took a deep breath and asked again.
“Is that the reason why you came back? To see if it’s her or not?”
Somewhere in my heart, I knew that wasn’t true. But what if it was? What if it is her that he cared about? And I am the second woman in his priority list. He caressed his hands on the sides of my arm and squeezed it lightly.
“You are over thinking honey. Yes, I was scared when I saw your email about the new hire. But I pushed that thought aside. But today when I called, you didn’t answer. I felt like I am lost somewhere. And you won’t come for me anymore.”
“I didn’t notice the calls. I was busy.”
