Author POV
"Woosh"
Jason leaped from one rooftop to another, leaving the indentation of his foot on the roofs.
"Woosh"
His surroundings blurred, struggling to keep up with his pace, only to fail miserably.
"Kaach"
With a thud, the rooftop caved in, crushing the innocent family alive.
Jason, uncaring, continued, all the grace slowly leaving his movements; his featherlight steps now brought devastation to the surroundings.
His movements were no longer fluid and elegant but forceful, as if to tear space apart from here to his destination.
"Woosh"
As Jason crashed in the forest, his movements became even more savage.
With each step, the frown on his peerless face deepened, and his otherworldly face slowly morphed into something terrible, as if suffering some unbearable torment.
"Thud"
"Bang"
Splinters from destroyed trees flew in the air, accompanied by debris from boulders. In his path, both living and non-living things suffered pure decimation.
Howllllll
Animals howled and fled desperately in the distance, scared by the presence of the apex predator.
"Screech"
Jason came to a screeching halt under the treelines; his entire being, as if merged with darkness, seemed imperceptible to human and inhuman eyes alike.
The ground behind him seemed to be carved up, as if butter were sliced with a knife, and the forest behind him still seemed to be reeling from the devastation caused by him.
But Jason, uncaring about that, aimed his gaze at the city in front.
A multitude of smells, thoughts, and sounds barraged his senses.
Filtering all the useless information, he focused on this one tantalizing scent, which seemed to be the source of the feeling gnawing at his heart.
With every whiff of the tantalizing scent, his torment decreased, and slowly his ghastly expression disappeared, giving way to his peerless face.
Confusion slowly etched across his enchanting face, which would cause pity to rise in any onlooker and enchant them to help Jason.
It is a pity no one could see him.
Complicated emotions flashed in his eyes as he breathed in more of this alluring scent.
This smell didn't drive him insane with thirst, but his instincts wanted to possess this person and keep her by his side for the rest of time.
Overwhelmed by the intense emotions he was feeling, his resistance to this call slowly waned.
Wary of this being some kind of trap, he stood still like a statue.
The scent slowly wafted across him, beckoning him dearly.
Wary but more curious, he stepped out from the treelines.
"My mate....?" Jason spoke in his sweet, honeyed voice, uncertainty clearly reflected in his voice.
"Woosh"
Slightly bending down to build momentum, he launched himself into the air; the ground below quaked and exploded. The air was torn apart as he descended on a rooftop, his steps feather light.
Landing on the roof, he aimed his gaze at the college campus, filtering out all the unwanted noise. He looked for the source of this alluring scent.
As if being mocked by fate, he couldn't see her. Maybe she was inside the building, or she couldn't be seen from this angle.
Jason's eye narrowed at this before he stepped off the rooftop and landed in the alley, his movements completely quiet, not even stirring up the dust below his feet.
Intent on finding the truth behind this bond, he slowly stepped out of the shadows. The midday sun glared at him, trying to reveal his true nature to the pedestrians, but Jason's dark hood, as if the origin of darkness, swallowed all light.
Unperturbed by the sunlight, he matched the pace of mortals around him and walked slowly. The wariness in his mind decreased with each step closer to his fated one.
As if he shared an immemorial bond with this person, he was slowly lured by the scent; his mind had stopped resisting.
Appreciating the surroundings, he walked slowly.
The haze from traffic stirred in the air and pointed towards the campus, as if nature itself seemed to be guiding him. The birds in the air seemed especially lively today; flocks of them flew in the air, as if anticipating their reunion.
The fallen leaves swirled in the air and followed him as he walked, as if the entire earth were rejoicing.
Following the scent, he soon stood in front of the tall gates of campus.
The gate was bustling with activity, and a flood of students kept pouring out with relief and joy on their faces.
Jason blended in with the crowd and skillfully weaved through it; the passing students stared at him weirdly.
"Why would anyone wear a dark hood and jeans under the afternoon sun?" Their thoughts were along this line.
No one came to bother him, though. Even in the massive crowd, a few feet around Jason turned into a forbidden zone, maybe because of his aura or something else, but the crowd kept its distance from him.
Jason, uncaring about the crowd's thoughts, continued walking; his steps hastened slightly. Under the dark hood, his crimson eyes were glinting with excitement, and an enchanting smile adorned his peerless face.
Finally, his fated one was in his sight.
With hair as red as freshly dripped blood and irises of different colors that seemed to represent the vastness of heaven and earth,.
She was wearing a red dress, which further accentuated her beauty and figure. She stood still, but she seemed to be at the center of attention.
Jason's steps faltered slightly as he took in her being.
Something sealed deep in him was slowly unlocking; memories of a different life flashed through his mind, but Jason only cared about the girl in front of his eyes.
Suppressing the new memories, he walked closer to her.
Selena, as if sensing his gaze, looked in his direction. Her expressionless face slowly morphed into an astounded smile, and her beautiful iris reflected the immense happiness she was currently feeling.
Jason, with a smile of his own, walked closer, but suddenly his smile disappeared and a ghastly look came on his face.
"Fucking bitch, she is only a little pretty..."
"How dare she reject me? I will take her....."
"I will ruin her pretty face...,"
"I will kill her....."
Envious and lustful thoughts related to Selena barraged his mind.
The joy of meeting his fated one disappeared, leaving an anger that threatened to consume everything.
"Grrrrrrrr"
A primeval roar slowly emanated from his throat, startling everyone and bringing their thoughts to a standstill.
All their strength was sapped from their bodies as they pitifully fell to the ground.
Incomprehensible whispers echoed in their heads; though the language was unknown, their intent was clear.
"You have incurred His wrath; you should die."
"Don't struggle; just accept this honor of dying in His hands."
"Heeeeehaaaaaaa"
"Hahahahaha"
A plethora of voices sounded in their heads, overwhelming their mortal beings and slowly turning them vegetative.
Slowly, their horrified eyes turned blank.
As if this wasn't enough, Jason was about to deliver more punishment before a fair hand grasped his arm, stopping him.
This one touch released the flood of memories he was suppressing.
One particular memory stood out from the rest.
Under the twilight moon, a woman with breathtaking beauty stabbed herself with an archaic dagger, but her eyes only reflected happiness.
As if sensing his gaze, the woman raised her head and looked directly at him. Her gaze traveled through space and time and aimed directly at him with endless love.
Slowly, she withered away, not before murmuring something incomprehensible; a gentle smile stayed on her face until the end.
In a daze, Jason raised his head and stared at the captivating face up close.
Slowly, the face of the woman in the vision overlapped with the breathtaking face in front of him.
His crimson eyes met her eyes, and time came to a standstill.
