Chapter 37: Unreliable allies

Ace P.O.V

I was about to take our clothes and necessities upstairs when I suddenly felt that it might be better to take our things to the guest house not so much for my Uncle and Lena's privacy but also ours, it would surely be more comfortable for me and Alicia so I turned around and walked to the guest house which by now should just be considered my place since I've been living there for a long time on the way I was thinking that since we were Friday and it was our date night I should do something special for us tonight I thought

If I want to do something special I'll need help I thought taking out my phone to make some calls. 3 calls later everything was in order for tonight Alicia was with Lena and Mammy so it should be alright if I started preparing things right now, I took the keys for my car and got out of the house I needed supplies for tonight's dinner I decided to make Marry me Chicken and Polenta with Wild Mushroom Ragu going to town without being seen might be tougher than I thought since I would need to cross the garden at the back of the mansion without being seen hmm I could use the running track and do my daily workout while at it yep that's a good idea I thought I made my way back inside to change myself and prepare fresh clothes to put for when I go shopping later 

40 minutes later I was in my garage taking a shower yes there was a living space in my garage I asked for it because I didn't want to go back to the house with grease and oil stains all over but also I knew myself if I was into something I like sometimes I lose the notion of time so it was better to have a place I could sleep in case I lost myself in a project and it did come in handy as I use this little loft a lot I was inspire by the Taxi's movie when I design my garage I always dream on living like this when I was in my teen in my last life hehe

Starting my car and driving to the shopping district was a great ride like always I missed those times when you could be the only car on the road in New York for this to happen maybe the city would need to experience an apocalyptic event I started my shopping spree by buying scent candle for our romantic dinner then got carried away when the saleslady asked me if I wanted to buy things for the bathroom when I showed I was interested the lady start her pitch sales 

-If you want a romantic atmosphere with your girlfriends you will need those mister she said showing me a pamphlet

-Right away sir she said excitedly this must mean she got a percentage on commissions going out of the store with multiple bags in my hands I was about to go grocery shopping which I had left for the end when I passed in front of a music store ... hmm maybe I should buy a guitar here Alicia has been asking me to teach her for a while lets just buy two hehe couple guitar I thought smiling to myself stupidly

I came out of the store with 2 Fender CD-60Ss perfect for beginners and it was not expensive at all when she gets better I'll buy her another one for her maybe a Gibson made just for her I think a 1960 Hummingbird Fixed Bridge, Heritage Cherry Sunburst would suit her a lot well let's put everything in the car ... oh shit it would never fit in the car, maybe if I put the guitars on the passenger seat I thought 

Lucky for me it did fit it was a little cramped in the car but I won't need to come here again to get the rest later now I need to go grocery shopping and I should just take what i need I thought 

After buying everything I needed I drove all the way back to my house I took the road that was going toward the little village for the workers of the island so as to not be seen by Alicia and started putting everything into place she must really wonder where am I looking at my watch after 4 hours of preparation I made my way toward the main house

Alicia P.O.V

At first, I was having fun knowing Mammy and hearing stories about Ace when he was younger Helena told me a lot of stories already but it's always nice to hear more after 2 hours I start wondering where Ace was Helena was also starting to worry so we both start looking for him and as we were looking Helena showed me around but even after an hour of research we still did see an ounce of his shadow that's when Helena thought about Ace garage maybe he was there so we got outside and walked toward his garage when we got there I could smell his scent just like at home when I enter the bathroom after he as taken his shower or a bath hehe I took a big sniff thinking in my head maybe I was a pervert just his scent was enough for me to feel a little horny 

-Hmm that's strange mumbled Helena beside me

-What is strange? I asked her

-His car is missing ... oh maybe he went to the race track come with me, sweetie we will take a car to go there since it's pretty far away she said taking my hand in the direction of another garage I was seeing close to Ace garage

-Wait wait Helena is there a place to take a shower here I asked before we could get out of the garage

-Oh yes Ace asked for a loft to be built here when the garage was being built why? she asked

-Because I can smell his scent ... just like when he comes out of the bathroom at home I finish saying with a mosquito voice realizing that what I was saying was embarrassing as fuck now she must think I am a pervert I thought

-Hehehe I didn't know you were already at this step in your relationship with Ace she said giggling with her hands in front of her mouth like a college girl laughing after gossiping love news with her friends 

-No...no it just ..that I... it is not what you think I stammered 

-Hum you really didn't ... you know with him ? she asked me with a puzzled look on her face

I didn't answer but I turned around with a bright red face which made her laugh 

-Sorry I shouldn't have asked anyway maybe he took a shower here but since his car isn't here he won't be here that's for sure let's go 

-Hmm I nod and then follow her

Even after driving to every place the island as to offer we still didn't find Ace when we stopped at the mini zoo Helena called it I really wanted to look around but I was worried about Ace so I didn't linger around and ask Helena if she as any other idea but even her was starting to get anxious so she suggest we go back to the mansion and call Ace I had left my phone in my luggage and Helena forgot her in her room we were almost here when Helena suddenly let out a yelp and push the brake of the car

-I know where he must be that's the only place we didn't look she said to turn the car around to take a road that we had just passed 30 seconds before

3 minutes later I could see the car Ace had shown me in pictures before 

-I KNEW IT yell Helena this fucking brat coming here and worrying us without saying anything he needs a little beating I think she said stopping the car right behind Ace's car 

before I could step out of the car to follow Helena who had stormed off like a fury Ace came out of the house and looked at Helena and then at our car with a stunted look but I could hear them talking since the window was rolled down 

-Weren't you supposed to keep her busy so I could prepare asked Ace to Helena before she could say anything

-EH what do you mean we've been looking for you for the past 2 hours she said unsure about why Ace would say something like this

-You... you forgot your phone again didn't you! he said with an exhausted sigh

-I... I... yes she said bowing her head in shame 

Ace walked toward me put his hand on the window frame and leaned toward me with a reassuring smile

-You were worried sorry about that I wanted to give you a surprise but seems like I have unreliable allies hehe but I will have to ask you to leave and come back for dinner my love he said while giving me a peck on the cheeks before turning around and looking at Helena

-I'm counting on you this time bring her here at 5h30 said Ace to Helena before entering the house and closing the door

all this while I was standing there without being able to say a word my woman instincts were telling me to keep my mouth shut and leave so as to not spoil my surprise Helena was looking like she had no energy left she was super angry and then realized it was her own mistake that lead to this situation what a roller coaster of emotions I thought hehe

-Don't make fun of me she said puffing her cheeks when she heard my laugh

-Sorry it's just that you are so ... full of resources and always confident it's the first time I've seen you like this I understand now why Ace said you were really cute when you were clumsy and that when his Uncle fell in love with you that was one of the reasons (giggles)

-ACE SAID THAT her scream almost made my ears buzz 

-Yes I was asking him how you and Anthony got together ... by the way how could you have waited this long Ace told me what he thinks are the reasons but I want to hear it from you it can't be as simple as Ace told me there must be something deeper right

Knowing where Ace was and that he was safe and sound talking about the love life of Helena and Anthony took all my attention away I was so engrossed in our girl talk that I didn't even realize when was it that we sat in the dining room and ate snacks while talking around a cup of tea time pass by so fast that without knowing it was already time for Helena to bring me back to 'the guest house' who I learn was Ace living place here he had a room in the mansion but he loves having his privacy so he moved out there when he was younger
