Lucas thought he wouldn't be surprised to pass the sieve and a part of him tried to sabotage the sense of achievement he would feel if he did, but even these two conflicting feelings couldn't keep him from being thrilled with this achievement. A movie played in his mind, a movie of practically half a lifetime.
