Chapter 1

Taking in a deep breath I pushed everything I was feeling to the back of my mind and locked it away, not the healthiest thing to do, but I was in a cavern with potential danger slugs, and don't think I didn't forget about those slug hounds. The first thing to do was to find civilization. Looking up at the giant mushroom that I was leaning on was probably my best bet to see anything.

The climb was pretty easy, who knew that climbing mushrooms would be… fun, again a nauseating bout of memories hit me hard, causing me to almost lose my grip. Scrambling, and flailing my one arm I grabbed at the trunk, when I was secure I took a deep breath shoving the memories and flashes of utter pain away I continued my climb.

After a few minutes I reached the top. Looking out across everything made me feel small. The thing was ginormous I couldn't even see the one side seeing no sign of human habitation I felt defeated

"I really am alone," I climbed down.

I sat down not knowing what to do. I had nothing but the clothes on my back if I tried to remember anything; everything went down an emotional spiral. Holding my breath I counted to four, then let it out, I repeated this process again and again until I was relatively calm.

Opening my eyes I flinched back, hanging upside down on a leaf, was a slugterrian slug looking at me with concern. We stared at each other for a few moments before the slug made a chirp-like sound before falling into my lap.

It made its way up my leg and jumped into my hand it had a cyan body, with a yellow gold shell, and blue eyes, it smiled up at me letting out another purring chirp.

Smiling down at the Armashelt I brought it closer.

"Hey, I'm… well I'm not sure what my name is, ha I don't even know anything about myself," I started confessing to the slug, focusing on the slug I could see the little guy was overwhelmed, petting his head I gave out a hysterical laugh

"Don't worry about it, I'm still just trying to make sense of what is happening." This slug was surprisingly expressive.

Grabbing hold of my finger he patted it, I laughed in response "thanks bud," giving me a big smile he jumped up to my shoulder and patted my cheek. Again I chuckled.

"Do you know where we are?" I asked the adorable little slug. He looked at me in slight puzzlement smacking my forehead I rephrased the question. "Is there anyone like me? Like maybe a cave troll the little mole folk, humans?" the little guy bless his heart nodded. breathing out a sigh of relief I asked the next big question "Can you take me to them?" his grin was massive, as he nodded. Slowly I stood still with the Armashelt on my shoulder, "so which way?" he pointed to the far side of the cavern, nodding in determination we set off into the jungle.

We had been walking for about twenty-three minutes when I noticed that the light was slowly disappearing, at first I had assumed that it was because we had simply started going further into the forest, but it seemed that an artificial nightfall was coming. Quickly my new pal and I climbed a nearby mushroom tree.nit took a while but eventually we reached one of the smaller caps and climbed onto it to sleep for the night. Sitting with my back leaning against the trunk... stalk? whatever you know what I mean. I watched as the cavern slowly fell into a natural darkness, creatures of the night making their presence known by their calls as they prowled the ground. the unmistakable sound of slug hounds as they called, barked, and howled together, as they hunted for food. Slowly I was lulled to sleep by the general ambiance, even if it was a bit chaotic, and that is how my first day in the 99 caverns came to an end.
