Chapter 13 Battle Center_1

The next day at eight o'clock.

Cao Ge did a quick tidy up, then went out for breakfast, before taking a taxi to the address written on the document.

Standing in front of the massive building with a strong artistic flair, Cao Ge felt as though he had arrived at a museum.

But seeing the soldiers with guns at the gate made him think it was a military base.

The combination of these two styles indeed had a certain fresh appeal to it.

Cao Ge looked at his watch, saw that it was almost the appointed time, and walked towards the gate.

Before he got too close, a soldier at the gate approached him, gestured for him to stop, and then asked, "Comrade, what brings you here? No one is allowed to approach."

Cao Ge immediately opened his messenger bag, took out the document that the young policeman had given him the day before, and handed it to the standing soldier, saying, "People's Liberation Army comrade, my name is Cao Ge, I'm a scholar who has been invited to attend a meeting. This is the document the officer gave me yesterday."

The soldier took the document, glanced at it, saw that it came from the Combat Center, immediately closed it, handed the document back to Cao Ge, and said, "Hello, comrade, please step back ten steps and wait, I need to verify this with my superiors."

"Okay." Cao Ge took the document, put it back in his bag, then retraced his steps ten paces and waited in front of the gate.

Watching the soldier enter the guard booth to make a phone call.

About a minute later, the soldier came out of the booth, jogged up to Cao Ge, and said, "Professor Cao, I've confirmed with my superiors, and indeed, you are the expert who has been invited to attend the meeting. A special representative will soon escort you inside, please wait a moment longer."

"Okay, thanks, People's Liberation Army comrade," Cao Ge said with a smile.

The soldier nodded slightly, then turned back to his post, standing immovable in front of the gate.

Cao Ge stood in front of the vast open space, looking at the items within the fence, waiting with curiosity.

It was very quiet nearby, with hardly anyone around, and if he wasn't wrong, this place ought to be the Combat Center dealing with the Three-Body problem.

Curious, Cao Ge looked around; about five minutes later, a middle-aged man walked out from the gate.

"Brother Cao, this way." As soon as Da Shi stepped out of the enclosure, he waved at him.

At the sound, Cao Ge turned to see that it was Shi Qiang who had come out to meet him.

"Hello, officer," Cao Ge walked over and called out.

"What officer? We're not strangers; my name is Shi Qiang. Everyone calls me Da Shi, you can too," Da Shi came over and said with a smile.

Looking at Da Shi in front of him, Cao Ge said with a smile, "I think I'll stick to calling you Officer Shi."

"Fine, call me whatever you like," Da Shi paused and then suddenly laughed.

"Come, I'll take you inside."

Following Da Shi, Cao Ge entered the highly administrative Combat Center.

"The reason we've called you here today is that our leaders want to get some information from you, and also for you to attend an internal meeting," Da Shi explained while leading the way.

All the way, Cao Ge just listened without interjecting.

They soon arrived on the second floor via the first-floor elevator.

"Impressive, isn't it?"

In the corridor, Da Shi pointed to the giant dragon bones hanging in the air and said.

Cao Ge looked at the Combat Center in front of him, identical to the one in the drama, and nodded.

Below the giant dragon bones was a work area, where many staff members were busy at their stations.

"This place was originally intended by the government to be an art gallery, but now it has been requisitioned by our military. Nonetheless, the decor remains that of an art gallery. How do you like it? The work environment is pretty good, right?" Da Shi chatted.

"It's good," Cao Ge sincerely nodded.

The environment here was heaven compared to the hell of his rental space.

Da Shi led him through the corridor and then turned a corner to the end of it, knocking on a door.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

"Knock, knock, knock!"

"Come in," a resonant voice answered from within.

After receiving the response, Da Shi glanced at Cao Ge beside him, then turned the door handle and opened the door to the office.

With an excited heart, Cao Ge followed Da Shi into the office of the head of the base.

Without Da Shi saying a thing, Cao Ge, having read the original work, easily guessed the identity of the person inside — Chang Weisi.

A high-ranking officer, he did not command troops, but considering the special nature of the work conducted at this military base, he must at least be a big shot at some level in the government hierarchy.

For someone of such standing, it was not Cao Ge's fault to feel a bit excited, as he had never encountered anyone like this in his current or past life.

In his previous life, the highest-ranking official Cao Ge had ever seen was the secretary of a town, whom he saw during an inspection visit to his village.

This secretary was nowhere close to the caliber of this big shot.

"Old Chang, I've brought the person you wanted," Da Shi called out.

The office was very spacious, probably seventy to eighty square meters. The furnishings were simple, fitting the style of a military commander. However, due to it originally being an art gallery, there were inevitably some artistic murals on the walls around.

Chang Weisi looked up at the door and immediately put down the documents in his hand and stood up to welcome them.

"Mr. Cao, hello, I am Chang Weisi."

"Hello, Officer Chang," Cao Ge glanced at the military insignia on Chang Weisi's shoulder and replied with excitement.

He was different from Wang Miao, who was a pure scholar and head of the Nano Center, often dealing with high-level academicians in his work. Hence, Wang Miao might not pay much attention or value to such matters.

But Cao Ge was not a scholar, so it was understandable for him to be a little excited facing such a high-ranking leader for the first time.

Sensing Cao Ge's nervousness, Chang Weisi said with a smile, "Mr. Cao, don't be nervous. I just want to understand the situation from you."

"Come, take a seat over here."

Chang Weisi guided Cao Ge to sit on the sofa in the office reception area.

At that moment, Da Shi also took a seat on the sofa next to them.

However, just as he sat down, Chang Weisi looked at him and said, "Da Shi, get Mr. Cao a cup of water."

In front of others, Da Shi tended to give Chang Weisi face, so without saying much, he got up, went over to the water dispenser, filled a paper cup, and placed it in front of Cao Ge.

"Officer Chang, may I ask what you wish to understand?" Cao Ge looked at him and asked.

Hearing this, Chang Weisi glanced at Da Shi and then turned back to ask him, "It's like this, I heard that after your conversation ended yesterday, you had suggested to Officer Shi to investigate a game called what was it..."

"Three-Body," Cao Ge reminded him.

"That's right, Three-Body," Chang Weisi continued.
