Chapter 30: Imprisoned In Comfort

The guards grabbed me by the arms and forcefully led me away, their grip tight and unyielding. I shot a pleading glance towards Jace, Zane, Brod, and Niam, but their expressions remained stoic and resolute. They had no choice but to comply with the lightning god's orders. I could feel a mix of fear and determination welling up within me as I was dragged through the gardens and through the grand halls of the divine palace.

As we arrived at my designated room, the guards released their grip, leaving me standing alone in the dimly lit space. The atmosphere felt heavy with tension, with each passing moment stretching on like an eternity. I couldn't help but feel trapped and isolated in this gilded cage.

I paced back and forth in my room, my mind racing with thoughts of what was happening outside these walls. I couldn't help but blame myself for all the chaos that had ensued. If only I had been stronger, if only I had been able to save Derek before it was too late.
