[Chapter 210] Frustration

As Soca sits down on the bed, she suddenly replays the scene in her head and blushes, her body heating up from her imagination.

I look at her for a second before my brain realizes what happened, I was so caught up in the conversation and keeping Sky secret for now that I didn't realize what was happening. I awkwardly cough as I wave my hand, shadows gathering beside her before eventually making a set of pajamas.

She gazes at them weirdly as I enter the bathroom, "I'll wash myself down and be out in a little bit, take this time to get dressed."

Soca and Emily don't get a second to interject as I enter the bathroom, shutting the door behind me. I look in front of me to see a simple shower head, sink, and toilet.

'Why does my brain work like this sometimes?'

"Where the heck did he go..." murmurs Rolen as he lays in his bed, Amber and Jade sleeping by his sides. Ruby and Amethyst are talking on a set of couches across the room as Emerald listens silently, like a statue.

"We have been following the leads so far, but have yet to encounter any other clues. It's as if he just disappeared." Rolen exclaims, seemingly in peril. Amethyst looks over as she waves him over. Rolen perks up as he gently maneuvers around Amber and Jade, who are happily sleeping with smiles on their faces.

After taking a moment, he gets over them as he walks over to the trio, sitting beside Ruby. She leans in and gives him a kiss, causing him to momentarily forget his troubles as he kisses her back, her red lips soft and heated to the touch.

But he only forgets them for a moment and as he pulls away from Ruby, they all flood back.

Ruby asks in a kind yet fiery tone, "Are you alright? You have been off these past few days." In truth, they all noticed it, but decided to say nothing till now.

Another sigh escapes Rolen's tired throat, "I'm sorry I haven't been myself lately. It's just that we have been searching for him for the past week and have been stuck here with no clues, I feel as if he should be here but..."

He holds his head with his hands as he groans, "...we have hit a dead end."

Ruby gently rubs his back, trying to comfort him, "It's okay, we will find out more about him soon, I'm sure of it!"

He nods, exasperated from the searching they have been doing. Today is the first day since their escape that they truly have taken a break.

When they left the ruined prison, the kingdom was in panic. They asked around and eventually learned about a massive cube flying away after momentarily landing at the castle. Rolen immediately guessed that this Shadow Emperor was in that. So he decided to find an inn and spend the night there, needing to gather information about the world before leaving the next day. However, what he woke up to was the kingdom in ruins, people were screaming and panicking as houses burned, anarchists were destroying homes as the adventurers guild dealt with it as best they could.

Turns out that when gangs had found out the current situation about the Divine beast and the guards, they decided to take advantage of the moment.

However, it didn't help that the gas container underneath the castle suddenly erupted due to the built up air pressure. This caused the narcotic gas to spread all throughout the kingdom. Anyone who wasn't strong enough were killed while the rest were put into a coma. Luckily, Rolen and his wives left by then and had started heading in the direction of this supposed massive cube.

Now they are sitting in a hotel room in another kingdom, the beastmen kingdom. Suddenly, Emerald speaks for the first time today, "I actually might have found a clue."

Rolen's head snaps towards her direction, "What?"

She clears her throat as she begins to explain, not used to talking. "I was going shopping the other day when I heard rumors that there were tremors in the mountain range near here. I would of dismissed these rumors if the mountains were volcanoes or there was a monster, but apparently they are just regular mountains with low class monsters resting in them."

She shifts in her seat slightly, talking so much having made her uncomfortable. She calmly watches Rolen as his eyes go wide, "Wait, really? Are there no high class monsters in the mountains?"

After quietly listening for so long, Amethyst butts in, "Possibly not, I had heard the same thing from locals when I was shopping for clothes. Maybe this could be another clue and even if not, it could serve as an opportunity for-"

"-exploring! I like it! Let's wake up the 2 lazy bones and let's go!" Ruby says as her eyes light up. It feels as if the air burns with life when she gets all fired up. Ruby has always been very explosive in decisions, but it can't be helped since she has been getting bored not being able to use magic.

Amethyst goes to say something before simply sighing and standing up. "I guess we could do that, if Amber is up for it. Emerald will just follow us, but the main decision is up to Rolen. What do you say?"

He doesn't hesitate for a minute before nodding hurriedly, "Sounds good to me, I can also shake some of my nerves while we're fighting monsters. Can you go wake up the other 2 Ruby?"

Ruby nods as an excited smile appears on her face. She runs over and shakes the 2 sleeping figures, who's eyes go wide from the sudden movement, "Get up! We're gonna go monster fighting! Get up! Come on!"

Amber nods quickly as she falls off the shaking bed while Jade numbly shrugs. The duo strip from their pajamas as they begin to put on their tougher clothes. Although they were slightly upset they were so rudely woken up, with some explaining from Rolen, they understood what the actual purpose was and got ready.

Rolen smiles happily as his 5 wives stand behind him. Amber walks up to his side as she hops onto his back, Jade walking to his side as the others closely follow behind. Collectively, their voices cacophonize as they all say at once, "Let's go."
