Chapter 49

I covered my face with the pillow as I pretended to be asleep. I raised the pillow again and found him staring at me.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked in a soft voice and he chuckled. I touched him again but he didn't vanish.

"Nathan, are you really here?" I asked him and he nodded. I smiled as I snuggled closer to get to him. I wrapped my small arms around his waist but then he was gone again.

"Oh come on!!" I yelled

"Rose is everything okay?" mother asked me as she came to my room.

"Yeah mom, everything is fine" I said. Mother looked around, she was getting suspicious of me, her eyes said it all.

"You are always talking to someone I can't see, is it a ghost" she asked and I shook my head.

she walked out after checking the room once again. I sighed In relief, I turned again to sleep and found him there. 'I know you are not real' I said as I turned to sleep.

"Good morning mother" I said as I went to the dinning room to have breakfast with my mother.

"Good morning" She said as she pointed to the seat next to her. I sat down next to her and we were served food.

"What of Raya?" Mother asked me, "Why didn't he come with you?" she asked again.

"He is fine and he is busy, very busy" I lied to her. I did not actually lie, Nathan was okay and also busy but he couldn't come here since he was a demon.

"Okay that is fine" she said. "When are you going?" she asked again.

I really wanted to see Nathan and I didn't want to waste much time here, they were free from the disease, my mission is complete, now I want to meet my husband.

"Today" I told her.

"Today?" she asked and I nodded, I could not stay another day here without seeing him.

"Alright" she said. Father had been looking at me since, and I couldn't tell what he was thinking about.

"Where did you get that fruit from?" he asked me, oh God, the question I had been avoiding since, why did father have to ask again?, he was fine wasn't he?.

"Uhmm, I , well someone gave it to me" I said.

"Who?" he asked again, why does he wants to know everything, everybody in the castle is fine, what kind of trouble did I bring myself.

"Someone" I told him and I heard him scoff.

"Don't tell me it is your husband" he said and I nodded.

"Is he a demon?" he asked me and I shooked my.head immediately, how did he know about this, I couldn't even tell him the truth.

"How did you find a demon fruit?" he asked again and I felt like disappearing, my head was messed up already, I didn't know what to say, that I married lord Nathan instead of Raya, the two were one person actually. No I can't say that, I can't.

"The fruit was given to Raya and he handed it to me" I said plainly and father nodded. Thank goodness the question was over, I couldn't wait to go away from here.

I stood up from my seat ready to leave.

"Are you going now?" mother asked me.

"Yes, bye" I said and waved as I rushed out so she would not call me back.

I sat on the horse as I rode away from the castle, I was eager to see Nathan, I really missed him although, it was just a night.

"Your majesty, we are hearing from the people, that our prince took the demon fruit" One of the members said. The king dropped the paper he was reading, he knew where this was heading to, why did Kiel have to spread the news?.

"Which of them?" he asked pretending not to know anything.

"The most stubborn of them, Nathan" another one said.

"What should we do to him, since he took the fruit?" the king asked, he never thought they would think of killing their next king in line like that.

"The rules was applied to everyone, The fruit was only meant for the demons, why does our prince give it to humans?, this means that he should be prosecuted since he did not follow the rules" Another one said again.

"Your majesty, you can't go back on your words just because he is your son and the next king in line, we should all abide by the rules, the prince disobeyed you which means that he must be punished" Another one said.

"How would we let him rule us if he breaks the rule everytime, Kiel is also there and he has proved that he is worthy of the throne since he never disobeyed you" Another one said, he hated Nathan and he wished the demon could just die and now was the perfect time.

The king had heard enough of it, yes, he knew this day was coming, if he didn't kill his son it would be unfair since he had killed many demons that helped humans with the fruit.

"You are all dismissed" he said.

"But your majesty, we have to come to a conclusion" Another one said, how could he just dismiss them like that, without knowing what would be done to the stubborn demon. They were not ready to leave if the king doesn't announce that he would kill Nathan.

"He would be killed" the king finally said and they sighed in relief. Many of them did not like the demon. 'it is good that he would die by his father's hands' they mummured as they rejoiced within them. They all left after the king concluded on what they would do.

"Bring me Nathan" the king said to the guards.

"Your majesty" Nathan said as he bowed his head.

"You know why you are here?" the king asked and Nathan nodded.

"I don't understand why you would help her, she saved her fake parents not her real parents, why would you help her do that?" he asked, be was curious to know why Nathan did that since he knew that, rose wasn't their real daughter.

"She asked me to help her, I couldn't refuse to her, that was why I did it" he said truthfully. He couldn't watch her cry so he had to do it for her.

"They want you dead, did you know that?" the king asked Nathan and he nodded.
