Ch 16:- Slice of life

At around 5:03 pm Rayne finally reached the manga store he was sweating but that didn't bother him because he was already 3 minutes late at his first day at work.

~Rayne POV~

I reached for the door handle and opened it causing the door bell to ring as I entered I came face to face with my possibly new colleague standing there with her arm crossed below her chest enhancing their beauty while glaring daggers at me.

"Please forgive me Miss Winter, I promise I will be come early from next day onwards please forgive me just once," I said while bowing a full 90 degrees.

"I will forgive you for once but don't turn this into a daily routine and you can call me Selene from now on do you understand," Selene said.

"Yes I understand,"

After that she then started to show me what my job was which was very simple restock the book if any got purchased and recommend books to customers according to their need.

As I was waiting for a customer to come I spotted a book by the name of 'Noblesse', then I heard someone call me from behind and then the next moment there was no book present there so I turned around and came face to face with a girl who seemed oddly nervous she then said in a meek voice "Could you please get a copy of diabolik lover anime from there?"

"OK mam"

Now I know why she was so nervous because it was the section for highly cultured men and she doesn't want to have a bad image of her womanly pride.

The rest of my time was spent trying to sell the light novels and manga while on the other hand I saw Selene trying to to recommend some of the animes. By the end of the day at around 8:56 pm around 100 books were sold as my main task was restocking, I clearly remembered what books where sold, 25 copies of My Hero Academia, 22 copies of jujutsu Kaisen, 14 copies of Bakemonogatari, 39 copies of 'Your name' anime movie of course most of this were reissued versions as during the war most of the entertainment industry were lost for years before they slowly started to recover.

As my shift was coming to an end I was called by Old man Arvon "Come here boy and scan your wrist watch here. "

As I scanned the wristwatch, 40 credits were credited to my account, I was very happy because now I have 60 credits which means by the end of a week I would have 350 credits and it was enough to buy a basic tier beast weapon.

"Hey can I walk with you, you know we both are going in the same direction and we could get to know each other well" Selene asked.

"Yeah sure."

~No one POV~

Throughout their way until they reached school dormitory they talked about mundane thing.

"What is your ability? from looking at number 4 displayed on your wrist I know you are a descent ability user," Rayne asked.

"I actually have a healing ability it enables me to heal other individual just like the Cleric class from DnD, " Selene said.

"Oh!"

"So what kind of ability do you have? " Selene asked.

"I actually don't have an ability," Rayne said.

"Oh! sorry I thought you had an ability related to darkness or shadow," Selene said.

"Why did you think so?" Rayne questioned out of curiosity.

"Well I have seen you avoid sun sometimes and moves along the shades you know how most of the time in novels they portray shadow magic user as people who hate sun," Selene said

'Was I really avoiding sun that much'

'May be that is the reason.'

"Well here comes our destination bye" Selene said.

"Do you live on the third floor? holy **** you live in the VIP dorm room!" Rayne exclaimed.

"Yes, I am indeed a VIP what would you expect the grand daughter of a retired Lieutenant be." Selene said with a hint of pride in her voice.

As she was no longer in his range of view his brain was finally able to compute what he had been just told.

"HOLY **** HER GRANDFATHER IS THE LIEUTENANT! " Rayne shouted inside his mind.

'Hehe haha... you should have seen your expression.' the mysterious voice spoke while laughing.

'Great after a whole day of silent treatment the voice finally feels the need to speak. Hey you didn't tell me your name.'

'I really should have said my name previously my name is Vivek although it was my first name before reincarnation on of my recent name is Devanad but you could call me anything you want.' the mysterious voice said.

"OK then I will call you V from now one and could you adjust your voice a little bit it feels like a thousand voice are speaking all at once," Rayne said.

'OK I will try, and remember to read the book that I have given, do you need any other books tell me now because I don't think I will be able to communicate with you for a while,' V said.

"Yeah it would be great if you could get a book on martial arts training especially something like best body conditioning technique in the universe," Rayne said.

'Under normal circumstances I would have told you to see tutorial of MMA training but considering how scarce the information is in this world due to some war, promise me one thing try to survive by the time I arrive' V said.

"What do you mean? hey can you hear me answer me you dam *****" Rayne half shouted in a panicked voice.

That night Rayne decided not to sleep and read the book named [Fundamental of Qi] and [The way of Spirit: Beginner guide to utilize the increased spiritual energy].

Next day

At around 2:00 am in a dorm room a boy could be seen staring at a empty.

~Rayne POV~

"Let me summarise the whole concept of Qi, Qi is something innate that Every living being possess it is just like mana but the only difference is Qi originates from oneself unlike mana that is borrowed. To learn Qi one need to have someone who is able to use Qi and unlock other person latent Qi. Great now I need a master who knows how to use Qi." Rayne said in a frustrated voice.

"Now my only hope is you [The way of Spirit: Beginner guide to utilize the increased spiritual energy] please don't disappoint me."

As I read through the the first chapter which has content on how to activate spiritual energy at around 4:00 I decided to sleep otherwise throughout the combat class I will be tired.
