After convincing my father to let me move to Musutafu, I began my new school life in earnest.
With a splitting headache from quirk overuse, of course, as I completed some last minute adjustments to Monoma's behaviour, planting ideas in his head via the Pen Of Fate, making him more pliable to my machinations today.
And today was the first day of my high school life, and the day I get access to One For All.
Why do I even want One For All?
Because it has three abilities no other quirk has, namely, Energy Stockpiling,
Mental Fortress, and most importantly, Quirk Boosting better than high quality trigger.
I mean it turned Float from a levitation quirk into a supersonic flight one. That's one hell of a boost!
It's a shame I can't steal Float since Nana Shimura died decades ago. It'd have made a nice substitute for my now goal, Air Walk, especially in the airless void where I'll have to pressgang the damn ROB into giving me multiverse travel.
Regardless, it was time for school.
The obnoxiously glaring architecture of UA greeted me once more as I entered the premises climbing up 3 sets of stairs to get to the classroom.
They can have a whole godzilla sized terrariums and mini cities on campus for hero training but couldn't install a fucking elevator, huh?
Once more, the top school was showing its flaws front and centre.
And then of course came the classroom.
As I slid open the door, I could hear the sparking of Bakugo's explosions and the crisp whooshes of Iida's hands flapping in the wind.
I sighed.
This is going to be a long year.
"Hey! You two. Cut it out before I make you." I warned, taking my seat.
I rubbed my temples and muttered, "Can't have some damn peace in the morning!"
"And who are you supposed to be? You're just another damn extra! So stay in your lane bastard!" Bakugo shouted.
"That's no way to speak to a classmate, Bakugo-san!" Iida reprimanded and walked over to me.
He extended me a handshake and asked.
"I'm Iida Tenya. Nice to meet you!"
I grabbed his hand anf shook it tight.
"Matsumoto Yuji. Likewise." I replied.
He looked me over like a first time car buyer, and asked, "Are you perhaps the person who came in first in the entrance exam?"
"The guy that doubled All Might's score?" Bakugo gasped, "Him? No way!"
I gave Bakugo a stern glare as I answered, "Yes. That's me."
"Ooh! What's your quirk?" Kaminari asked.
"Bookshelves." I said, as Deku walked in, smiling like a Joker Gas victim.
"DEK-" Bakugo almost screamed when he was interrupted by the door slamming shut.
But what came as a real surprise was that Deku shut him up with a glare, and the gazes of the rest of the class settled on him.
He clicked his tongue, and fell silent, muttering about how he'll deal with it later.
"What's got you all smiles?" I asked Deku as he took a seat by me.
"Nothing. Can't I just be happy?" He protested, just as Uraraka entered the classroom.
"Ah, I see. So that's why you were smiling like a loony." I teased.
"I-its not like that Matsun~" Deku cried.
"Oh, is that so?" I poked at his blushing cheeks, as another couple entered.
"It's you!" Kirishima cheered.
"It's...me?" I asked, acting confused.
"Thanks for your advice that day. I was able to get here because of your help!" Kirishima replied, bowing low.
"I guess? I don't remember it, but if you say so..." I said, scratching my head.
"Hehe, yes. He was so inspired, all he could talk about was you for the last three months!" Mina exposed.
"Mina! I didn't just.....nevermind." Kirishima said, embarrassed and took his seat in the back.
Mina giggled and looked around the class, spotting Bakugo.
"Hey, aren't you that guy who got captured by the sludge villain?" She asked.
"What? N-no. I mean it was an even fight. I was about to win!" Bakugo defended his shallow pride, even stuttering.
Imagine that!
"So you say, but from what I remember, Yuji-kun had to save you, right?" Mina remarked, looking at me.
"Don't mention it. Didn't do it for him. I just wanted to buy some cake." I replied.
"Matsun is such a tsundere!" Deku laughed.
"And just for clarification, I didn't need any help, you extra! I could've handled him myself!" Bakugo shouted angrily.
"Sure you could, buddy." I replied condescendingly.
"YOU!" Bakugo screamed, only to be interrupted once more by Iida.
"Yuji-san, what...no, how many people have you helped? Do you have previous experience in hero work?" Iida asked.
"Yeah, now I'm curious." Kaminari added.
"Me too!" Came an invisible voice from behind.
"Me three!" Kirishima hopped on.
"Not much." Was my answer, disappointing the lot.
"C'mon Matsun, don't be humble. You've defeated two S rank villains before haven't you?" Deku exposited like any good minion should.
I have truly trained him well!
"By lucky chance. And it wasn't very heroic. I nearly died. I had to have a surgery afterwards. I still have that scar across my chest.
Honestly, if they hadn't kidnapped my friends, I wouldn't even have thought of going after them!" I explained.
"Did you save your friends?" Kirishima asked, concerned
"I better have after all the pain I went through. Though, it wasn't all unicorns and rainbow explosions.
One of them even lost an eye and had severe disabilities in motor function for months. It was horrible.
And then the police threatened to put me behind bars. Thankfully, they didn't succeed, but still.
Suffice to say, it wasn't heroic in the least. Don't romanticise hero work. It's dangerous, long winded and overall just fucking sucks."
There was an uncomfortable silence in the class for a moment before Bakugo broke it.
"If you hate being a hero so much, why did you enroll here?"
"Because someone has to do it. Because if everyone starts thinking it's dangerous, they won't want to do it. So I have to.
Besides, I think the Era Of Peace is coming to an end. There is a war coming. And I can't very well leave it up to people like you, can I now Sucko?" I replied.
"What did you say, you fucking extra?!" Bakugo cried, before once more being interrupted.
"That's never going to happen. Because All Might is here!" Ojiro said.
"Certainly. You overestimate, Yuji-kun.." Tokoyami added in a gravelly tone.
"Yes. No villain would be stupid enough to go against him." Momo assured.
"I hope you're right. But regardless, All Might won't be the symbol of peace forever. There will come a day in our lifetime when he retires and someone has to take up his mantle.
And he'll leave behind some big boots to fill." I said, solemnly.
"And you think you're going to do that?" Bakugo taunted.
"No. But I know for sure it won't be you, Mr. Toilet Brush!" I countered.
"You're asking for it now!" Bakugo shouted, his hand sparking as he leapt from his seat.
"If I was asking for something, I certainly wouldn't knock on your thick head for it, dumbass!" I mocked, calmly sliding off my seat.
"All right. Settle down." Came a voice from the door as a yellow bundle rolled into the class, and Bakugo's explosions vanished, sending him flying into the wall.
"It's time for homeroom." A man announced, emerging from the camper cocoon.
And so began my first day, in my hero academia.
