Sitting in a chair near the bed in my ships cabin I watched the girl from last night sleep.
Numerous bandages covering her body, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm as I did.
Now just to be clear I am not doing because I am a creep.
I am simply watching this girl sleep to make sure she doesn't die.
Last night after I disposed of the body of the pirate she killed I treated her wounds as best I could and then laid her down in my bed so she could rest. But I'm no doctor so I decided to watch over her to make sure she didn't die in her sleep from complications or something along those lines.
Curse my bleeding heart.
I know I should cut ties with this girl, and I will, but only after she's strong enough to leave on her own.
Once she is I'll kick her off my ship faster than she can blink and that'll be the end of our relationship in full.
But for now I guess I can help her out.
Though I wouldn't do this for just anyone mind you.
The only reason I am taking care of this girl is because she made quite the impression on me. Anyone who can do that is worth my time in my book.
The girl continued to sleep for another hour.
Until eventually she started to stir.
Her eyes slowly but surely opened, and when they did so they landed directly on me.
"So, you're finally awake." I said.
"Yes." The girl replied. She then examined me for another moment before examining herself. Noting the bandages on her body. Seeing them she returned her gaze to me.
"Yes, I bandaged you up." I said. Before she even asked the question. "As to why I did so, it's simply because I wanted to. Nothing more and nothing less." I explained.
The girl lightly nodded at her heed at my words.
"So, want to tell me what that was all about last night?" I asked. "Why were those men after you, and for that matter who exactly are you?"
Because the circumstances surrounding this girl are already complicated enough given that I've already disposed of two corpses since meeting her. If I'm going to involve myself with her any further I need details about the shit she is caught up in, and when I say details I mean all the details.
"Tell me everything, right now." I spoke to her.
"Ok." She replied. "First off my name is Mira. Mira Dianus Atermina." She explained.
Mira then gave me the short version of her story.
She's originally from an island in the Grand Line known as Artemyra.
One day pirates came and attacked her home and she was captured. That happened about six months ago. Since then she has been a prisoner of the pirates who attacked her homeland. The crew that those two people we killed last night belong too.
From what she was able to piece together the pirates brought her here to East Blue to sell as a slave to a high ranking noble.
But last night she managed to escape after the man she herself killed last night attempted to assault her.
Though he didn't manage to accomplish objective.
As Mira finished her story, a few tears in her eyes as she did so, I kept a blank expression on my face as I processed all the information she had just given me.
Then once I did so I spoke.
"I see. Sorry that happened to you." I told her.
"I don't want your pity!" She angrily retorted.
"I'm not pitying you." I calmly replied.
Staring Mira directly in her eyes as I did so.
A few seconds later she calmed down. A small look of shame appearing on her face. "Sorry. It's just-"
I raised my hand to stop Mira from speaking.
"It's fine, you don't need to explain anything." I said.
With what she's just told me she's been through she doesn't need to say anything at all.
Standing up from the chair I was in I walked over to the cabin door and grabbed hold of it. Turning my head back in Mira's direction after I did.
"You can stay here and rest up and recover. But after that you need to leave." I told her.
Since given her experience Mira will likely develop a hatred for pirates and since I am going to become a pirate having her around longer than necessary is more trouble than its worth.
"Yes. And thank you again." Mira replied. "Also, what is your name?" She asked me.
"Edward. Kenway Edward." I retorted.
Saying my name in the same way the people of the One Piece world do.
"I'll bring you some food later." I told Mira.
I then left the cabin and headed up to the deck.
Taking a seat in a chair I had set up I sighed and ran a hand through my shoulder-length dirty blonde hair.
Wondering what the hell I have just gotten myself into.
