Sam had always dreamed of the day when he would awaken to his superpower and tame a divine beast. He had spent years reading up on the various beasts and their powers, eagerly anticipating the day when he would finally become one of the gifted. But fate had other plans for him.
When he fell ill just days before his 15th birthday, Sam knew that his chances of awakening were slim. His condition worsened with each passing day, and as he lay in his hospital bed, he watched as his friends and family visited him less and less frequently. It was as if they had already given up on him, before he had even had a chance to awaken.
And then, to make matters worse, Sam's friends turned on him. They mocked him for his illness, and whispered behind his back about how they had always known he would be a failure. Sam felt utterly alone, betrayed by those he had once trusted.
When his parents came to visit him one day, he hoped that they would offer him some comfort, some reassurance that everything would be okay. Instead, they informed him that they could no longer afford to pay for his medical treatment, and that he was to be discharged from the hospital immediately.
With nowhere else to go and no one else to turn to, Sam found himself on the streets, a fallen soul with nothing left to live for. He wandered aimlessly, consumed by his despair and hopelessness. But little did he know, his encounter with a mysterious crow would change his life forever.
