The Banquet

In the morning Xyno gets a call from Professor Erik

"Hello, Xyno? I did not wake you up from your sleep did I?"

"No, Professor Erik, I was already awake. Did you need something this early in the morning?"

"Nothing much, it's just due to your popularity you need to come an hour before the venue of your certification party. You need to come before 10 o'clock in the morning."

"Popularity? It's not something troublesome. Is it?" Xyno asked raising his eyebrows.

"Nah it's just some people would want to meet you. Ok, I am hanging up." Professor Eric laughed and hangs up the phone.

(Hope it does not give me some trouble) Xyno sighed while checking on the news.

"Youngest researcher in the history is having himself certified this morning. The young genius has published a paper on 'the legendary wave frequency' at a stunning age of less than 16. A party is going to be held for his certification ceremony. The venue is 11 o'clock at Oran Groove. A lot of city personalities are going to attend the banquet."

Legendary wave frequency was his thesis for research. It was actually just a facade while his real research was to detect the waves from eternity fragments. Xyno had hoped to take technology's help to find the fragments.

While not all fragments could be found on this planet but there was a large number of them present here. So Xyno decided to collect the fragments here while increasing his power.

"A party huh. Guess taking Chisato with me should not be an issue"

Xyno finishes breakfast and decides to get ready for the day. Just as he was taking a shower bell doorbell rang.

Xyno who just came out of the bath answers the door while wearing a bathrobe. As he opened the door he was stunned.

A motherly lady with a sexy figure was standing in front of him wearing a green cocktail dress. Xyno was enchanted by her looks for a brief second.

"Fufu~ what are you staring at Xyno?" Chisato asked while smirking.

"Oh nothing just you look absolutely stunning today"

Seeing her in this attire Xyno gets a little surprised. Usually, she wore somewhat reserved clothes but today she even wore makeup and jewelry.

"Why are you not wearing any clothes? What if it was someone else and not me?" Chisato asked teasingly at Xyno.

"So what I am a man" Xyno just shrugged off her teasing.

"Come in. I'll make coffee and bring some snacks."

"I just had breakfast. Anyways today is an important day so let me help you get dressed"

"Huh!"

Despite some small protests from Xyno, Chisato helps him with his hair and adjusting some 'other' stuff. Xyno wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt and red tie. He looked extremely handsome.

"It looks like we are going on a date" Chisato teases Xyno who chuckles upon hearing that.

"Ok now let's go. It's already 8.30 am and we spent quite some time dressing up."

Chisato agrees and they both set off for the venue.

There was a different vibe in the atmosphere that day.

Everyone was looking over at Xyno like he was a well-known celebrity. Well, how could they not behave this way? This guy made one of the biggest discoveries of the decade. It can revolutionize the world in the coming years.

"Look! It's Xyno Evertale!"

"He is THE Xyno Evertale?!"

"I heard he was an orphan and was under the care of Professor Regina."

"Some say he has a unique mythical pokemon"

"No wonder he was the leading researcher."

"Who is the beautiful lady beside him?

The name Xyno Evertale was on everyone's tongue that day. Some daring girls even asked for his autograph.

(Guess I am popular now. Well, this is nothing new to me. I was one of the most known people back on Earth too.)

Xyno was used to getting attention in public. He was a well-known figure in his past life. So this small attention did not bother him at all. Even Chisato was somewhat immune to strange gazes.

Still, they took a cab to avoid attention on the streets. At this rate, they would be late for the party.

The Oran Grove was a quality hotel suited for banquets like these. It was a short distance from the academy and was built in the western region of the city. This region had a modern look instead of relatively traditional buildings on the northern and eastern side of the Academy City.

Both became the center of attention as soon as they entered the hall. Some women looked at Xyno with predatory gazes. As for Chisato...

Some men tried to check her out but one cold stare from Xyno made them avert their eyes. Gengar incident was still fresh in their minds. And this woman was rumored to be this devilish boy's girlfriend.

Xyno noticed some of his colleagues entering with their partners. They noticed Xyno and Chisato together and came to greet them.

There were other people like from the Academy and some other well-known personalities present at the occasion. Xyno was shocked that the hall was already nearly full when there was still more than half an hour left before the banquet. He greeted many known and unknown people before professor Eric called him as the celebration was starting.

When the event started Professor Erik announced the completion of one of the biggest discoveries of the decade and congratulated all who helped with the research.

"Today, we all have gathered here to celebrate and congratulate all those who helped complete one of the biggest discoveries of the decade."

"It can bring a new era for training pokemon and can have a wide range of applications in communication and pokemon identification technologies."

"Not every man is born a genius, but every genius is born a man. Every single person who was noble enough to join us today and celebrate with us is a remarkably skilled scientist or a researcher, who put all those hours and combined the day and night and worked on the project."

"Let us toast to their brilliance and celebrate this fine day together!"

Everyone applauded and held their drinks high.

"Now, I would like the lead researcher, Xyno Evertale, who will be getting his Jr. Professor license very soon to say some fine words on the occasion."

Chisato whispers to Xyno. "It's your queue, Xyno."

Xyno goes over to the stage and gives his speech.

"I enjoyed working with everyone on the project. We sure did had some times when the research came to a halt, but with everyone's cooperation, the research was a big success. I would like to thank any and everyone who helped us with the project and make it a big success."

Xyno gave a long speech.

"I would even like to thank two people that are not present here. Professor Regina Bellad and Dr. Maria Kemetsch. They both helped a lot in the early phase of research. Without their efforts, this research may not be completed as it is today."

As Xyno comes to the end of his speech and bows down to show his appreciation, everyone started clapping. There was some whistling in the crowd as well.

The banquet went quite smoothly as everyone enjoyed a good time.

There was even food for the Pokemon, so there were some unique Pokemon on display during the event as well. Chisato got tired wanted to go home but Xyno was still entangled by other people so he sent her back alone with a wry smile. There was nothing he could do about it. The topics were boring for normal people.

"Good job with the speech, Xyno. You were remarkable. It's very unbelievable to think someone is this diverse."

"It's nothing, Professor. I'm used to giving speeches by now."

"Haha. Now that you have completed your degree and the research, what do you plan to do in the future now? I guess you'll help Professor Regina or set up your own Laboratory somewhere? We would like to have a great talent like yourself on board here at the Academy."

"I was thinking I would like to explore the world now. I've been researching all the different phenomena occurring around us for quite some time now. I would like to experience what it feels like to be a Trainer as well."

"Haha. I knew you would say something like that. Well, I will not force you, but if you feel like working for the Academy again, give me a call. Okay?"

"Will do Professor," Xyno replies with a smile.

At this moment Professor Erick smile mysteriously.

"There was someone who wanted to have a word with you, seeing your remarkable skills. You might have heard his name before."

From behind him comes an old figure who greets Xyno very politely. Xyno quickly recognizes that the person is none other than Professor Oak. Yes, the professor from the anime somehow existed in this world.

He had grey hair but his face still looked like a middle-aged man. His skin was still full of vitality and his posture was like a young man. Tier 6 can live for 200 years so he had barely spent half his lifespan. That too if he did not tier up further.

"Hello, young man. I have heard many good things about you. And you look exactly like I had imagined you to look like. Huge congratulations for the success of the research."

"Thank you, Professor Oak. I've personally been a big fan of yours as well. Your research over the Grimer's and Muk's crisis in the Johto region was truly remarkable."

"You flatter me, young man. These old bones can barely do much these days. Anyway, I heard you are going to start traveling around the Sinnoh region? If you would come over to Kanto sometime do give me a call. I'd be glad to have you as a guest."

"Sure Professor."

They chatted for a long time. It was already 3 o'clock and the banquet was over.

"Also, since you seem like a pretty skilled trainer. I'd like to ask you for a favor."

"Hmm?"

Professor Oak takes Xyno outside and presents him a Pokeball.

"Inside this Pokeball is a level 25 Charmander. I would like you to take him under your care."

"May I ask why are you entrusting me with it, professor?"

Professor Oak sighed and explained.

"He is a pretty fight-hungry Charmander and is very wild. Its previous owners brought it back to me since they did not want him to cause them any more troubles."

This Charmander was too fiery in nature and did not listen to the young inexperienced trainers. It got returned many times as it did not listen to their commands. Some of them even got injured so he became lonely.

Professor Oak wanted to find someone to take care of it and Xyno was an excellent candidate.

"Xyno, I would like you to raise this Charmander."

Xyno takes the Pokeball and calls the Charmander. Charmander comes out of the ball in a dramatic way.

Charmander looks over at Xyno and tries to tackle him which Xyno dodges effortlessly. After all, Xyno was a late tier 2 now. He was much better physically than a normal human.

"Charmander! Show some manners to your new trainer."

"Char!" Charmander growls. He seemed too cocky and directly threw a flamethrower at Xyno.

When the flamethrower was going to hit him suddenly it got stopped by an invisible shield. Xyno noticed Celes who teleported right beside him. She does not usually stay in her Pokeball.

Celes(Ralts) seemed quite angry and gazed coldly at Charmander. Noone can hurt Xyno in her presence.

"He seems to be aching for a battle. Would you like one of your Pokemon to battle Charmander?"At that time Professor Oak said laughingly.

"Celes get ready"

The situation seemed heated and it seemed someone will get a beating for an attitude change.
