Hello, lovely readers! I welcome you to the first of four chapters being released today! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did editing it for you!
===============================
Early the next morning, as soon as Quinn finished his morning routine, he heard a light knock on his door, and opening it Quinn saw one of the teachers introduced to him by Olly. Her name was Maya, she looked around 18 years old, and she was always full of cheerful energy!
Quinn invited her into the living room. Maya looked at Cramorant, who was still sleeping, and asked, "Is that big guy your Pokémon?"
Quinn smiled and said, "That's right."
Maya looked at Cramorant somewhat curiously and said, "I've never seen such a Pokémon before!"
But Maya didn't come to chat, she put the books that she had brought with her on the table and explained, "Because many of our school teachers were once trainers who have retired and have no teaching experience before they got the job, we introduce them to the things they need to pay attention to before they teach a class."
The trainer will not travel forever. After retirement, most trainers will pursue various occupations based on their hobbies- and Quinn knew this.
Maya pushed one of the books over, and Quinn read the title, [How to be a Good Teacher] on the cover of the book. She said, "These books are for you to look through. Next, I will introduce you to the main courses we offer here."
"Thank you." Quinn thanked.
Maya's smiled and said, "In our school, in addition to basic reading, writing, and mathematics- there are four courses related to Pokémon." She paused for a moment, continuing, "The first course is based on Pokémon typing. This course teaches the natural weaknesses and strengths between the Pokémon of different types."
"The second course is based on Pokémon moves. It introduces some moves that Pokémon can learn, and the effects of said moves. This also includes a demonstration of the moves. When taught the teacher uses his Pokémon to show different moves for the students to see. They pay more attention to the bigger moves."
Quinn understood, she meant that she could let Cramorant use his moves in front of the students. He couldn't help but think of Cramorant's usage of Oblivion wing... Using it in front of students, he didn't even dare to imagine the repercussions of doing such a thing. However, modifying the moves through his cheat should be fine, so it seems that he has to try to verify the effects of his cheat as soon as possible.
"The third course is on Pokémon ecology." Maya said, "In this course, we introduce some different Pokémon's living habits and the main habitats of said Pokémon in the wild."
"The fourth and final course covers Pokémon abilities. This course is mainly to let students understand the various abilities of different Pokémon and the effects of said abilities."
"Which course will I mainly be responsible for?" Quinn asked. He felt that apart from the ecology course, he could perform well in any of the others.
However, Maya did not play the hand he was looking for, saying, "Our school currently lacks an ecology teacher."
'A flop!' Quinn threw the hand of cards in his mind down angrily.
"So, after the school committee's deliberation, we decided to let you teach this course for the second grade, can you do so?" she asked.
Quinn hesitated before saying, "I don't know much about the ecology of the Pokémon..."
There is no ecology in the games made by Game Freak, and the ecology in anime is the product of make-believe.
"It's simple, and we don't have any other teachers..." Maya's eyes were full of expectation as she continued, "After all, there are still many unknown things in the Pokémon world that have not been discovered, so we have prepared a syllabus for you to follow. You can go off of that."
Hearing this, Quinn relaxed. "That should be fine."
As she had finished her explanation, Maya got up and started leaving. Quinn walked her to the door, but before she fully left she turned around and said, "There is one day before the students start their courses. Before that, I recommend using that time to make yourself familiar with the environment."
Quinn nodded, and Maya began leaving down the hallway, but only walked a few steps forward, and suddenly turned around saying, "By the way, the Rustboro Forest is right behind the school. There are a lot of wild Pokémon there. Most of the Pokémon on the periphery are very friendly to humans, just don't go too deep in.
Quinn, who had finally come out of the Rustboro Forest, did not want to return to the place that made him sleep inside a tree- but he was grateful for Maya's advice and said, "Thank you, I got it!"
Maya then truly left down the hallway.
Quinn took a quick look at his clock. '8:37 am... Cramorant is still asleep.' He thought as he looked at him. He then turned to the living room and began looking through one of the books that Maya had brought. Then used the book and his knowledge of teaching from his past life, and began thinking of a lesson plan.
At 8:50 am, Cramorant opened its eyes and walked towards the open window. With a strong flap of his wings, he flew out to go on his daily fish hunt.
Quinn had already delved deep into the textbook on ecology compiled by Pokémon Alliance. There are a lot of little knowledge about the ecology of the Pokémon that he didn't know, for example- the growth cycle of a Caterpie is only around a month long! Easy to capture and they grow quickly, making it one of the most suitable Pokémon companions recommended by the Alliance to new trainers.
Another example, Pidgeot will leave their nest on dark stormy nights and fly within the thunderstorm. According to scholars, this may be a way for Pidgeot to exercise herself. The secrets of these Pokémon's habits made Quinn read with gusto... until a lively Magikarp was thrown directly in front of him.
(E/N -- Funny jump-scare! Honestly, though, surprise Magikarp would scare me too...)
"Gah!" Cramorant squeezed the Magikarp in its mouth to stop it from struggling- looking at Quinn.
"..."
"..."
He looked at the unlucky Magikarp and helplessly rescued it from the clutches of Cramorant.
"It is full of bones, so I can't eat it," Quinn said while poking the Magikarp.
He remembered that in the games, Magikarp only had scales and bones, and was not edible.
(E/N -- I call BS! I remember seeing fried Magikarp and I know it!)
In the anime, when the Rocket trio was drifting at sea, they were so hungry that they wanted to eat a Magikarp.
But Meowth couldn't bite through its scales, so James angrily kicked the Magikarp back into the sea to release it... Then the Magikarp became angry and evolved into Gyarados and took revenge on the three of them.
"Gah?" Cramorant tilted his head, not understanding.
"Forget it." Seeing him like this, Quinn sighed helplessly. He picked him up and put him on his shoulder, putting the Magikarp in a plastic bucket filled with water, and carried it outside his dormitory intending to release it.
He remembered what Maya had said about showing Pokémon moves and then tried his cheat's [Move Modification] function on Cramorant.
But as soon as he tried opening the list of available moves, instead of the list he saw, [The moves are locked and cannot be modified at this time.] appeared in his mind.
'I can't change it?' Quinn thought, taken aback.
'So are other Pokémon okay?' he questioned.
He looked at the Magikarp swimming in the bucket.

When [Move Modification] is used on the Magikarp, the list shows it can be modified.
'So why can't Cramorant's move-set be modified?' he wondered.
Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Releasing one early, might get another one out tonight too to make it 2/4 owed... I'll decide after I play some Skyrim.
Have a wonderful night!
