[11th Month, 20th day, 4E 1894]
The few days after Rowan completed those missions passed by in peace.
He would travel the forest in search of anything of value, gaining a couple more Grade 1 herbs that he was starting to grow as well.
During this time, his class had gone up another level as well, reaching level 4.
Some of his skills and abilities had increased by a level as well.
Skills:
[Pickpocketing Lv. 1] [Woodworking Lv. 3] [Forest Striding Lv. 2] [Nature Camouflage Lv. 3] [Stealth Lv. 3] [Hatchet Mastery Lv. 3] [Dagger Mastery Lv. 1] [Gardening Lv. 1]
Abilities:
[Wood Inspection Lv. 2] [Ambush Lv. 2] [Prowling Lv. 3]
His little garden was coming along well, and the environment inside his [World Seed] was starting to feel like home.
Also, during these past few days, he spent some time to complete some of the easier missions that were available, slowly building up his coin pouch to the point where he was no longer on the edge of becoming broke.
During those missions, Rowan would have to deliver some herbs to Elena, and they would chat inside her shop.
After she had learned that he had a decent amount of knowledge regarding trees up to Grade 3, she became more approachable. It seemed that she felt they shared similar interests, which wasn't far off when he mentioned he was a woodworker.
Rowan was thinking about letting her read the book that Old John had given him about trees, but that was something he was still holding off on doing.
He had a number of current goals that needed to be accomplished before he moved on to the next town.
-Get a Grade 1 Hatchet. This was because Rowan could see that his iron hatchet was starting to become a bit duller around the blade, and that against a powerful beast, it would have a lesser effect.
-Join the Craftsman Guild. This should be obvious, since he still needed to increase his woodworking.
-Get a living area better set up inside his [World Seed]. Flooring, a bed, a proper cooking and storage area.
-Level up both [Forest Prowler] and [Woodworker] to level 10 each. Once he reached that level in those classes, they would be considered maxed out, and he would be able to select new ones.
Those were his main goals for the time being.
In order to better accomplish those objectives, Rowan had decided stay sitting inside his [World Seed] today and carve.
He had the wood from the Silver Star tree that he had yet to use, and decided he might as well try making something.
Due to the limited amount, and the narrow width of the logs, he wanted to keep it small.
He gently wrapped his hands around the log, and found that he could even touch his thumbs and index fingers together when doing so.
He grabbed one of the 1-yard-long logs and began to gently use the scraper on it to get the bark off completely. After that, he sawed the log into three pieces, so each were about a foot long.
"This should work." He muttered.
He grabbed one of the bottles and slowly rounded both ends, but made one of the ends slowly curve in a bit further, and get a small neck-like section to it.
After he had that done, he slowly began cutting out small pieces at a time from the top.
He was slowly carving out the insides with small cuts, hollowing out the log.
"A water bottle made from Grade 1 wood should be able to do something, right?" He said more to himself.
It took hours to get the bottle cleaned up on the inside, and he had to use a rough stone to sand down the inside since his file wasn't going to work.
After the inside was done, he had to clean up the outside. Smoothing the wood down, and making the lip of the bottle nice and smooth.
After that, he grabbed one of the pieces of cork he had bought the last couple days, and tested sealing the bottle.
Once he made sure the cork would stay put, he decided to use [Wood Inspection] on it.
"Let's see what we've got.
-----
[Rough Cleansing Water Bottle]: A roughly made water bottle by an aspiring woodworker.
Effect: Slowly cleanses the liquid inside if left sitting under the stars at night.
Material: Silver Star Wood
Crafter: Rowan
-----
When he saw the effect, he knew that he got something of value.
Having clean water to drink will always be something which people would desire, and would be crucial to the growth of a civilization.
The main people that Rowan could see buying this would be mercenaries or adventurers who would need to travel to dangerous areas where clean water might not always be an option to get.
The issue which Rowan had was that it didn't say how slowly it cleansed it. It seemed like it could take hours or days, or even longer. He wasn't sure.
When Rowan was a little upset at this part, he reread the description again.
It says 'liquids', not water. Did that mean that other liquids could be cleansed? Juice? Tea? Blood? Who knows?
'What about potions?' He thought again for a moment, and immediately decided that he would get a bottle for Elena to experiment with.
When he had an idea of the purposes for the bottle, he started to get to work again. It took him practically the whole day to finish the next two bottles, but with each one made, he was getting more proficient in his work.
Currently his DEX had reached 18, so he had a much easier time working with a small carving knife than he had in the past.
However, that was also an issue. His carving knife. He was putting in a lot of effort to cut off each bit of wood, because it was a Grade 1 wood. It had a natural resilience that wasn't so easy to get around. It was just taking persistence for now, but Rowan knew that in the future he would have to get better tools.
After Rowan finished the next two bottles, he decided to try something a bit different.
He took one log and cut it into 4 pieces. With these four, rowan started to make sword handles with them.
Someone was sure to buy them, and it might make him have an easier time getting stuff made for himself.
Rowan wasn't entirely sure what the craftsman guild would require when he went to sign up, and he hadn't thought of asking anyone yet either.
He knew that if he began to think of too many different things at a time, he would just get overwhelmed.
The next day, Rowan was seated down and checking the handles he had made.
They seemed decent, but Rowan knew they weren't perfect.
He still did take a few moments to check his profession level and saw that his Woodworker level had reached 4, and so had the [Woodworking] skill!

Rowan checked everything over and couldn't help but nod a little.
He looked down at the other logs he had, and decided that he would do one more project, something he had not done before.
He was going to make a bow. Or atleast, the wood part.
He didn't know how to make the string, or have the materials to do so.
He stretched himself out before getting to carving again, adding more dust and wood chips to an ever-growing pile. Rowan was even going to keep them for later use.
He made sure to get all the bark off first before slowly carving it into the shape of a bow. A long piece of narrow wood with a slight curve in it, but not too much, since that had to be done by the string.
The bow was slowly coming into shape, and Rowan was being extra careful because he didn't want it to crack or splinter when it started to bend.
The difficult part was where the bow would be held by the hand. Making a grip and carving the wood into a shape for a hand to better fit it was much more difficult than expected, but he persevered.
It took him nearly an entire day to get it just right and get it cleaned up before he was finished.
He checked the ends on both sides for the notches where the string would go.
"I guess it is time." He said softly as he got up and stretched again.
Rowan left the [World Seed] and started to walk towards the smithing workshop to sell some of the stuff he made, as well as to try and get himself a better hatchet.
A bit of a shorter chapter. I've been busy and it's hard to focus when there is something else I keep wanting to do.
Also, it's difficult to try and fill chapters of him just living leisurely. It seems I might need to start speeding things up a little.
