Chapter 4: It’s birthday time

In a dimly lit room a boy who looked quite athletic for his age with ice blue eyes and dark black hair sat with his legs crossed with a smile on his face. 

'Finally, It's my sixth birthday, I can finally ask to train, and finally might be able to make some actual progress with my quirk and body. Well it'd be a lie to say I hadn't made any progress, however this young body is limited on how much I can actually train, last night i finally have managed to change my arms into any material I absorb however whenever I try to shape them like Kevin did all I get is small ripples and then the transformation stops. 

My stamina on the other hand has improved like night and day compared to before, though I'd be worried if not, "playing" every day possible and trying to "play" longer every time without taking a rest would do that. I even found a way to practise dodging by getting other kids my age to play tag and hero vs villain as they call it. Though not many play with me anymore considering how I was a try hard as they call me.' 

"Ryuji! Birthday boy! Breakfast is ready!" Shouted the familiar sound of his mother. 

"Coming! Mom!" Ryuji replied. 

Down stairs sat Akeno and Akihiko Kyushu after his wife shouted down their son for breakfast Akihiko looked at his wife who had just set down 3 plates full of Ryuji's favourite foods. "You know what he's going to ask for, don't you Akeno." 

Akeno looked at her husband and smiled a little. "Yes, I do, he's been practically begging ever since the doctor told him about his quirk, but no matter what we'll support him. Even if he wants to stop and change his mind, that is what we are here for." 

Akihiko smiled back at his wife. "Indeed it is, though we'll have to splash out a little to get him a good instructor." 

"Oh don't be stingy, we both know we have more than enough to buy him the best of the best, even better if there was anybody." Akeno rolled her eyes at her husband, the CEO of one the most popular hero support item companies in Japan, even heroes that live overseas visit just for the chance of having him develop a support item for them. 

Akihiko laughed at his life while rubbing his head. "Whatcha laughing at dad?" Said Ryuji scaring Akihiko out of his seat who landed on hiss ass with a thud 

"Ow, ow, just at your mother Ryu, when did you get down stairs?" Asked his father who rubbed his bottom a little from the sting he was feeling.

"Literally as you started laughing. Was standing there for a good 5 seconds too." Ryuji answered with a smug smile on his face. 

"Little rascal, what are we going to do with you?" Asked Akihiko as he ruffled his sons hair. 

"Don't bring me into this Aki, I noticed him as soon as he got downstairs." Akeno said with a slight deadpanned expression on her face as she got up and walked to her son to give him a hug. 

"Can't you take my side for once?" Akihiko said in a joking tone 

"Happy birthday baby." She said picking Ryuji up giving him a tight hug, ignoring her husband. 

"Thank you mom!" Ryuji replied hugging her back

"Don't ignore me." Akihiko said standing up but quickly apologised as his wife shot him a glare he new and feared that look, many men did as to not anger his wife further he quickly changed the topic.

"Let's eat then shall we, happy birthday Ryu." He said scratching his head. 

"Thanks Dad!" Ryujis said leaving his mothers embrace to give his dad a quick hug too then sat down next to him and tucked into breakfast. 

As the family finished up their food and Akeno picked up the plates to take them into the kitchen, Akihiko looked at his son and began to speak. "So son, is there anything you want for your birthday?" 

'Finally.' Ryuji thought.

After his fathers question Ryuji's eyes almost lit up like stars, and a massive smile reached his face. "Yes! I'm six now and mom said when I was six, if I still wanted to train to be a hero, I can ask then, and well I still want to be a hero!" 

"Are you sure? Being a hero is a very serious job, as you know I work with many heroes in my line of work, all would say the same, I'll ask once again, are you sure?" His father took on the most serious voice he'd heard since he came to this world however Ryuji had already decided and nothing would change that. 

"In 100% sure Dad. I want to be a hero!." Ryuji said with such conviction his father nodded at him. 

"I'll arrange for a martial arts instructor for you, you can quit whenever, me and your mother have already discussed this, we will be proud no matter what you do." Akihiko said with a smile on his face as he ruffled Ryujis hair. 

"Thank you so much Dad! I love you and Mom so much!" Ryuji shouted in excitement as he hugged his dads legs. 

"Of course kido, we'll get you an instructor by the end of this week, until then I've got you a few gifts." Akihiko said smiling at his son. 

"Gift time! Yay!" Ryuji shouted with a smile!

"We'll wait till your mothers done then get started, son." Akihiko said trying to calm his son down, no matter how mature he seemed at times he was still a six year old. 

"Okayyyyy." 

Not too much later after Akihiko said this the family of three was sat in the living room of their house, the parents of the not sat side by side on the large black settee while their child sat on the fluffy white carpet on the floor, in front of the boy laid 3 perfectly wrapped presents one wrapped in blue, one in red and one on purple. 

"Ryu, you ready to open your presents?" Akeno asked her son while pointing a camera at her son, who was staring at the presents with clear excitement written on his face.

"Yeah! I'm going to start with the blue one first!" Replied Ryuji not even waiting a second 

Tearing apart the nearly wrapped gift Ryuji looked at what was hidden by the wrapping paper, a beautiful wooden jewellery box that inside clearly had 5 very expensive rings of a variety of metals and alloys.

"That one was from me, the first ring is made from Tungsten, the second an alloy of chromium, cobalt and nickel, the third a high carbon steel, the fourth varsidium and finally Taydenite." Akeno explained to her son, smiling at him. 

"Thank you so much Mom! These will be so useful!" Ryuji said with genuine happiness. 

"Open the red one next son!" Akihiko said almost as excited as Ryuji. 

"Okay Dad!" Ryuji replied happily, complying with his father. 

After tearing apart the blue wrapping paper what laid there was a small black box confused to what it was Ryuji looked to his father to explain. 

"It's a battery in simple terms, a very very powerful battery designed by your amazing father to help with your energy absorption training, very similar to what I used just much much much better." Akihiko explained proud of his recent creation. 

"Thanks Dad!" Ryuji shouted while thinking 'it's perfect I was struggling on how to train my energy absorption without breaking things, these gifts are perfect for me, they must have thought hard especially Dad making me this especially when his time costs more than anything my last life could even fathom. 

"Of course Ryu, I know the feeling of wanting to test your quirk but only to be stopped to worry about breaking things, with this you'll have nothing to worry about, it also doubles as training in releasing and infusing the stored energy you absorb." Akihko smiled at his son.

"Once again thank you so much Dad! Time for the final gift." Ryuji said with a massive smile on his face 

"That one's from both of us." Akeno said while hugging the arm of her husband still having the camera pointed at her son. 

Finally tearing open the purple gift, which had what was definitely a very very expensive black and blue laptop, Ryuji seeing this smiled even more looking at his parents and gave them a big group hug. 

"I love you two!" Ryuji shouted at his parents. 

"We love you too." Both parents said at the same time.
