*Chirp*
'Ugh, where am I?' 'Raiden" groaned. The sunlight filtering through the window was hitting him directly in the face, much to his annoyance. He was never a morning person.
'Raiden' looked around and panicked. He was in an unfamiliar place. He tried to get up but was met with searing pain all over his body.
"Ouch!" 'Raiden' cursed out. 'What in the world is going on.' he was high alert.
It took him some time, but he was finally able to sit up, ignoring all the pain he felt.
*Inhale*
He took a deep breath and stared at his surroundings, "Am I in a hospital? Why tho-" suddenly everything hit him like a truck.
"Wait, wait! Aren't I supposed to be dead? What is going on? Where am I?" He remembered the expression on the para medics' face. He knew he was going to die back.
"Did I survive? But why does this hospital seem so...rural?"
He looked down and saw that almost his entire body was covered in bandages.
"Wait!" He looked back at his hands and realised something was very wrong.
"...why do I have baby hands?" He whispered with an incredulous tone.
He looked around and found a mirror in the corner of the room. Slowly getting up from the bed and biting his lips to endure the pain, he limped up to the mirror and saw himself. What greeted him was a kid, barely 10 with a head full of black raven like hair and deep blue eyes. His doubts were confirmed.
"Yeah, sure enough. I am in a child's body. I thought I died. Did I get reincarnated? Transmigrated? Which one was it?"
For some reason, he had calmed down a lot. Maybe it was because he had already accepted his death. Maybe because he didn't have any connections to his past life. He didn't know.
*Creak*
As soon as his monologue ended, the door to the room opened and a kind looking old lady entered the room.
.
.
.
Mary's eyes widened slightly when she saw Raiden standing in front of the mirror. But that shock soon turned to a frown.
"Young man what are you doing out of your bed already. You shouldn't be moving in that condition" she said with a stern tone. Raiden's condition was still pretty bad.
She rushed towards him, immediately picked him up and tucked him in his bed before Raiden even realised what happened.
Mary immediately started checking him all over. What she was worried about, was the fact that Raiden could've opened his wounds by recklessly moving.
It didn't take long for her to realise something was weird with the boy, 'How are these wounds all healed?' Mary was flabbergasted. She had guessed Raiden would wake today, but never in her wildest dream could she have known he would already be healed.
*Sigh*
Mary decided not to think about it too much. It was a good thing that he was healed. "How are you feeling boy. Does it hurt anywhere?" She stroked Raiden's head and said in a gentle tone.
Raiden was still processing what was happening and who this old lady was. He did find it weird that he understood, what was clearly a completely foreign language, without any issues.
'Is it because I inherited this boy's experiences? It sounds Japanese, but with a weird accent.' Raiden thought.
"Um, who are you?" Raiden asked.
Mary slapped her forehead and shook her head, "Just call me Grandma Mary." She said with a smile.
"Anyways, you didn't answer me. How are you feeling?" She asked him once again.
"It hurts a bit. But I'm mostly fine." He said with a measured tone.
Mary nodded and stood up, "Well that's good. That old coot will be here to see you anytime. It's good you're up already." She said, her face scrunching up a little.
Raiden raised his eyebrows at that, "Old coot ?"
"Hm? Oh I mean Old Rock. The man who saved you from drowning young man." Mary told him.
Raiden noted down that piece of information, 'Saved me from drowning? What the hell happened to this boy?'
While Mary was changing his IVs, Raiden heard the door opening. He looked up to see a massive man making his way towards him.
The said man quickly reached the bed and began questioning him, "Boy how are you ?" He asked with a voice laced with concern, not something he expected from a man his size.
"I'm fine. But, who are you?" He was surprised by how squeaky his voice was and mentally sighed, 'At least this small body will save me from the embarrassment.'
"He is the man who saved you, Raiden." Mary quipped from the sidelines.
"Oh! Thank you, grandpa." Raiden tried to play the role of a small boy as best as he could.
Rock raised his eyebrows, but soon his face split into a grin, "Hehe. He called me grandpa." He said with a silly smile on his face.
Mary sighed and slapped the old man on his back with an unnatural level of strength. That was enough to bring the old man out of his trance and they both started bickering.
'Geez, they are like an old divorced couple.' Raiden sighed at their antics.
*Cough*
"Um grandpa, grandma where am I ?" Raiden said, trying to get them to stop bickering.
He decided to learn in the cute little grandson role. That's the best way to get some information as to where he was.
"Boy this is Black Rock island. I found you on the sea, barely holding on to your life. You were lucky I was fishing nearby. God knows what would've happened otherwise. Anyways what happened? How did you even get lost in the sea like that?" Rock said with a serious tone.
Raiden was in a pinch. He didn't know what to tell the old man. Heck he didn't even know where he was. If he said something wrong, they might become suspicious of him.
Luckily, Mary came to his rescue. She picked up the locket she found on Raiden and handed it to him, "We found you clutching this. It is yours, right?"
Raiden looked at the rather expensive looking locket with a curious look. When he turned it around, he saw a name written on it which is assumed was his name, given how Mary said he was holding onto it.

"Wh..what!?"
"Hm? What happened Raiden? Are you alright?" Mary asked her voice laced with concern.
Raiden looked up at her and composed himself. 'I'll look at that later.' he thought.
"Um. I'm alright just a little tired grandma." He nodded his head.
"But how do you know my name?" He asked her with a cutesy voice that said 'I'm suspicious of you.'
Mary chuckled and gently ruffled his hair.
"I read it on your locket. Now you talk to your 'grandpa'. I'll bring you something to eat." She glanced at Rock and left the room leaving Raiden and the old man alone.
"So what happened boy ?" Rock asked him in a serious voice.
Raiden, who by this point had already cooked up a story, started speaking in the most innocent snobbish voice.
"I..I don't remember. My mom and I, we...we were kidnapped by pirates. I don't know who they were. *Sob*. They said they will sell us. But then a ship came. It had a white flag with something written on it. I don't remember what it was. But both ships started fighting. They blew up the pirate ship a..and mommy died there.*Sob*. I don't remember what happened after that.*Sob*."
Rock was shocked that the little boy went through so much. He hugged the crying boy, trying to comfort him.
"Those damn marines. They didn't even care to check if there were hostages on the ship." Rock was beyond pissed. He had seen the worst this world had to offer, yet that didn't mean he was stone hearted.
*Sigh*
"You're safe now, boy. I'm sorry for you mom. Take rest Mary will bring you food. I'll see you later okay?" He consoled the boy.
"En." Raiden nodded his head while wiping off his tears.
Rocks stood up to leave. He patted the boy on his head one last time and left Mary's house.
Finally after an Oscar-worthy performance Raiden was alone in the room.
"I should check that thing." Raiden murmured.
"Status." He said instinctively. It was almost as if he knew exactly what the word was to summon the window.

'That...is a lot to take in.' Raiden blinked lightly. His physical stats were pretty pathetic.
"What the hell is Achievement Points?" He clicked on that tab and started going through it.
[Achievement Points are received when the host performs any significant actions in the world. The number of points achieved will be decided by the impact the host has on the story.]
"So this thing will reward me based on how big of a butterfly effect I can create? That's...interesting." Raiden murmured.
While he was thinking of the future possibilities, he remembered something else he had, "System, open the beginners package."

[Beginners package opening
100 Achievement points

"That wasn't all that much." Raiden sighed at his luck.
Raiden quickly used the skill card he received. His innate skill was only F ranked and still useful so he was hopeful the D ranked one would be a good skill.
[Ding]
The system screen lit up with a bright light. Raiden waited with baited breath to see what kind of skill he would get.
[D-rank skill card used.

Raiden's eyes goggled when he saw the skill information, "How is this skill D ranked?!" He yelled. 'I'm sure the debuffs are going to insane. There was no way a skill this good would've been just D ranked otherwise.' he thought to himself.
''There is no point withholding points." Raiden murmured quietly. He was in a dangerous world, and if he wanted to farm achievement points, he needed to get stronger.
[Strength -> G --> F
Agility -> G --> F]
He put 10 points each in strength and agility, increasing them both to F rank.
'What the...' Raiden a felt a surge of heat course through him, starting from his stomach and spreading throughout his body.
"Damn, that was so addictive." Raiden said with a smile. The rush of strength filling him was so good.
While he was relishing in his new found strength, Mary entered the room with a bowl of steaming hot stew. She sat down next to Raiden and began feeding him.
'Well, let's focus on food for now.' Raiden said with a blissful smile.
