"Can you two please not do it right now?" Artemis said while sighing before turning toward Robin. "Don't you have a megaphone or something like that in your utility belt?"
Robin looked at his utility belt before replying, "I have, but he had made it clear that he would only answer our questions when we all agreed to his offer. It is a team decision that I cannot make myself."
"So, why are we even chasing after him when we haven't even decided what we will do when we face him?" Artemis couldn't help but ask in frustration. It was clear to everyone that these things had started to take a toll on her mind.
"And we should test this promise thing. I don't think he has such power. Maybe he just wants us to make a promise like pirates do before making a deal with one another."
"Seriously, pirates, that's your best guess?" Wally said as if he had heard something ridiculous.
"He words his promises like a pirate or someone that spent most of his life in the sea," Artemis replied before gesturing towards the sea.
"And you all seriously want me to believe that I am the only one feeling all this is similar to a pirate world like that POTC movie?"
"Me too, but I thought I was overanalyzing this scenario," Zatanna replied with a shrug. She likes pirate movies and cannot deny the similarity she sees in the ships in this world to the film she has seen.
Or maybe she was still overthinking the situation, and they were simply in a world that was technologically behind their world.
"So, two people think we are in some pirate world. That's great. Still, we should get back to the main topic of testing if that promise holds any power over me, right?" Wally said while ending their discussion.
"So, how should we test it? Cause I only have one idea that involves Wally attacking him and breaking the promise to verify it." Artemis said in a joking tone.
But to her and everyone's surprise, Wally suddenly took her bow and one of the arrows, and without saying anything, he shot the arrow at the ship.
Despite not being a bow user, Wally shot the arrow with surprising accuracy and power, and it quickly stuck to the side of Dan's ship.
"There," Wally said while returning the bow, "I broke the promise, still no retribution or anything."
"So, now take that megaphone and say it so we can finally figure out what is happening."
Robin saw the look on everyone else's faces, and just with one glance, he could tell a decision had been made by all of them.
.
"Stop, we all will accept your terms," A loud voice came from the ship behind him.
Hearing this, the smile on Dan's face widened as he slowed down his ship even more, letting the other ship come closer.
'Looks like the first part of the plan worked perfectly,' he thought while walking toward the deck.
He knew his plan was a risky one. The only reason it had a chance of working was that they were here without their usual powers. He knew them well, or it would be better to say he had an idea of how they would approach him.
And even if they grow into amazing superheroes in the future, right now, they are just teenagers in an unknown world without their usual protections (plot, their mentor's reputation, and their superpowers).
So, even if they turn hostile toward him after learning he is Daniel Specter, their target. He had confidence that he would come out on top if things escalated into a fight.
But despite that, Dan doesn't want to take any risks. That's why he is going through this whole plan thing, just to make sure they can't go against him, let alone fight him.
Meanwhile, their ship slowly approached his, and Dan asked amusedly, "And here I thought you guys could manage without my help."
It was also pretty clear that his amusement was not well received by them, as most of the members were openly glaring at him.
Robin replied confidently, "No, you realized you were the only one who had answers to our questions. We will see that and get back to you as soon as possible."
"Wow, that's some clever detective work, Robin." Dan said while clapping, "You managed to state the obvious and repeat my words to me in different packaging. That's such a genius move. I'm totally impressed by you, my friend."
"..."
"..."
"Hahaha! That's a good one," Wally said while trying to control his laughter, but seeing the looks his teammates were giving, he replied, "What? It was good, so I'm allowed to laugh."
"At least someone gets it, even if it's a bit slow, but then again, what else can you expect from someone who is always late when it matters?"
After casually roasting Wally about his habit of being late, Dan again turned towards Robin and asked, "So, before you all board my ship, are you ready to promise that you all will not cause harm to me in any way and I will make sure not to attack you all?"
Dan told them the promise, and from anyone's perspective, it looks more like telling them to follow human decency than the conditions he was imposing on them.
And by the looks on the faces of some of them, they could also tell that Dan was only asking that they not attack or plot against him.
"So, tell me, 'Do we have an accord?'"
Robin looks at his teammates again before saying, "Yes, we have an accord."
Dan raised an eyebrow at his wording. "And it applies to everyone on your ship, right?"
Before he could reply, the only fisherman on the team responded, "Yes, it applies to everyone on our team."
In the end, Dan couldn't help but ask, "And I should assume that everyone on your ship is part of your team, right?"
"I thought you were supposed to know about us?" Kaldur asked before shrugging, "I'm sure you can tell if anyone here was not part of the team, right?"
Hearing this, Dan outwardly didn't react, but in his mind, he raging curses him, 'Damn you, fish bastard, you still want to play games. Can't you simply tell me if there is someone?'
"Or I could simply make each of you take that promise one by one," Dan said like he was giving them a reasonable counteroffer. If they still want to play games like these with him, the least he can do is throw a cannonball at their game.
But while thinking about how to proceed, he saw Babara looking at him with a conflicting expression.
When she saw him looking, she made a subtle gesture toward Zatanna. The meaning was clear. She was hinting at him that Zatanna was not a member of their team.
He didn't understand at first why she was telling him this, even if it was true, but after looking closer, he could see the sign of one-sided tension.
'Who cares about that?' Dan thought while turning his gaze toward Zatanna. 'Should I try it?'
'Even if it's untrue, it will not cost me anything, right?'
"So Zatanna, the future mistress of magic and Sorceress Supreme, and the daughter of renowned magician Zatara," Zatanna looked at him after hearing him say that title, "Just complete the promise so we can move forward with it."
