Chapter 21: The Hidden Threat

Days passed,It had been nearly a month since the auction.

Ryuko was busy with his business, his servants, and training.

His leadership made the "Hidden Hand" project a success. It attracted attention in Mariejois, especially in his family's palace.

He received alarming intel about forces plotting to undermine his project.

Ryuko must now prepare his team for conflict and ensure the project's success.

The dim lights of the room flickered. Ryuko stared at the map on the table.

His inner circle had gathered around him in the "Long Hand" building, which buzzed with activity.

Layla, one of his most trusted sources, had just delivered crucial information.

She spoke calmly despite the gravity of her report. "The factions are becoming tense.

They have noticed our rise and want to end it or take control of it.

They see the Long Hand as a threat to their influence.""

Ryuko leaned forward, his sharp eyes scanning the map that highlighted the palaces of Mariejois.

The Hidden Hand had become a significant player, providing valuable information and insights.

This success, while good, had made it a target. It threatened those who resented the project's growth.

"What do we know about these factions or alliances?" Ryuko asked in a low, controlled voice.

Layla pointed to some notes on the map. It highlighted several areas. "They consist of various influential groups, each with its own agenda. Some want to eliminate us to maintain their control. Others see our downfall as a chance to advance their interests.""

Ryuko's expression hardened.

The Long Hand project had not only disrupted the power dynamics of others but also gained valuable allies, which he believed made them cautious.

This rapid ascent had made him and his project a beacon of ambition, drawing the ire of those who had grown complacent in their dominance.

Victor, Ryuko's loyal aide, spoke up, "What are their immediate plans? Do they intend to attack directly, or are they trying to undermine us from within?"

Layla nodded, "They're starting with covert operations.

There are whispers of an assassination attempt to infiltrate our ranks and gather sensitive information, as well as spreading rumors.

They want to destabilize us before launching any direct attacks."

Ryuko's mind raced through the implications.

An internal threat or assassination would be more dangerous than a direct assault, as it could lead to devastating breaches and compromises.

He needed to act swiftly to protect his project and his people.

"Deploy additional security measures immediately," Ryuko ordered, his tone brooking no argument. "I want a thorough sweep of our facilities for any signs of infiltration, Increase surveillance and ensure our most sensitive information is secured."

Edward nodded in agreement. "I'll arrange for a team to conduct the sweep and enhance our security protocols.

We'll monitor communications for signs of betrayal. This is not a big concern since only a few know our most critical info."

Ryuko took a deep breath, his thoughts shifting from strategy to immediate action. "Layla, Hinata, continue gathering information on these factions, We need to know their next moves before they make them. I want daily updates."

Layla nodded, already turning to leave. "Understood, I'll be in touch."

As the room began to clear, Ryuko's gaze lingered on the map.

The Long Hand was more than a project; it was a symbol of his vision and ambition.

He had to protect it. He would not let it fall to those who sought to undermine his efforts.

Victor approached, his face reflecting concern. "What's our plan, sir? Are we going to wait for them to make the first move?"

Ryuko's eyes met Victor's with unwavering resolve. "If they manage to breach us internally, we will be at a clear disadvantage, The success of the Long Hand depends on our ability to maintain our integrity and security."

Victor nodded, understanding the weight of Ryuko's words "We'll be ready. Yami and the others are just waiting for orders."

With that, Ryuko turned back to the map. It wasn't important.

But, looking at it and the palaces gave him comfort. It made him aware of his foe.

His mind raced through strategies and contingencies.

The success of the Long Hand had made it a target, but he was determined to protect it at all costs.

The coming days would be crucial in determining whether he could safeguard his project from the shadows that loomed on the horizon.
