A fight of destruction between two of the strongest people in the world. Overwhelming exertion of pressure and haki emitted around them. Their abilities only added on to the destruction.
As these two fought, nothing else mattered to them. Not the marines, the pirates, and if the world was corrupted. Defeating the person in front of them was all that mattered.
And for the first time, Akainu felt joy, and delight in a fight.
The desire for victory.
His brown eyes glistened with the same desire and Imai noticed it immediately. She smiled, to fight isn't just to defeat the opponent, it was also to awaken the inner senses of a warrior.
"That's it, Admiral!" Imai exclaimed.
Unsheathing her sword, Imai poured her haki onto the blade. A dark purple aura appeared around the blade and cut through the wall of magma in front of her.
She noticed Akainu getting further away from her and threw the blade forward. It zipped through the air quickly before catching up to him. Streaks of lightning appeared beside the blade as Imai transformed back into human form.
"Running away? I don't think so."
Akainu glanced behind him and noticed the smirk on Imai's face. He began to worry and was filled with dread. He once thought he was the devil for everything he had done to attain justice. But no, it wasn't him, but her.
The Empress of the Blade, the Fifth Emperor.
With precise accuracy, Imai specifically aimed for the back of Akainu's leg. He began to stumble forward, all he could feel was pain, and all of his senses started to disappear.
He turned over and saw the expressionless face that the devil held. The blade that was inches away from his throat and the amount of pressure he felt when her foot was placed on his stomach.
"Give up, Fleet Admiral. This fight is over." Imai said. "Or do you wish for more lives to end? If so, I will become the genie for today."
"Are you going to kill him or what?"
Imai glanced beside her, the familiar red-head was staring at her with expectant eyes.
"Fujiwara Hibiki, welcome back." Imai said.
"YOU! YOU RELEASED HER?!" Akainu exclaimed.
"Of course, why wouldn't I help a friend out? Didn't you know this? I thought the intel group told you this information." Imai said before smirking. "Or were you too prideful to accept help?"
Akainu cursed under his breath. The folders that Diane had given to him, he had put her off. "Do you know who you released? She was given the name Angra Mainyu, also known as All The World's Evil for a reason!" Akainu said. "She's known for her criminal organization and human trafficking!"
"It seems the World Government really spread propaganda about your doings." Imai said.
"I know. All of the people I've punished were criminals, they were bad people who contributed nothing but harm to our society. Yet I was seen as dangerous because of my abilities. I was labeled as evil." Hibiki said.
"So, what do you think, Fleet Admiral? Your marine philosophy is thorough justice and that is to eradicate and destroy everything related to evil." Imai said. "So, Mister Justice, are you willing to destroy yourself?"
Akainu was left speechless, good, and evil. What did it all mean anymore?
"I guess I can leave him to you? I have to take care of the nuisances that are still on the battlefield." Imai said.
"You do you." Hibiki said before turning to Akainu. "I would like to have a word with him."
And with that being said, the battle was reaching its endgame. Imai unsheathed both of her katanas and prepared to take down the lives of everyone in front of her.
"Go on, Mai. The world won't wait for you." Hibiki said.
Imai's eye twitched at the nickname, "It's been a long time since you've called me that, don't start now."
Hibiki simply replied with a playful smile.
A purple streak of lightning zipped through the battlefield, forming zig-zags, and different mirages of her figure throughout the field. Everywhere she passed, dozens of heads dropped on the floor.
Whether it was pirates or marines, none of that mattered, an enemy was an enemy. The numbers had started to decrease at a rapid pace. With all the admirals being distracted or having been subdued, there was no one there to stop her.
The endless bloodshed continued until the blue ice that once covered Marineford was now red. It continued until a certain ship arrived on Marineford and gathered everyone's attention immediately.
The infamous pirate crew, Straw Hat Pirates. At the very front of the ship was the well known figure known as Straw Hat Luffy with a whopping bounty of one point five billion berries.
Imai sheathed one of her blades and rested the other one on her shoulder.
"Look who finally arrived, the hero of the pirate era."
"Is that Luffy? It's been a while since I've last seen him."
"Captain, we're finished with everything on our end."
Imai glanced beside her and nodded at the duo who had cleaned up everything perfectly. With their chemistry and teamwork, anything was possible for them.
"Good job you two, but it looks like it isn't over just yet. They have some angry looking faces." Imai said.
"That they do, but their anger is mostly directed on you though." Uta said.
"Is that so-"
Before Imai could finish her sentence, a stretched out fist was launched at her. Though she easily dodged it by tilting her head.
"Straw Hat Luffy, it's been a while since we've seen each other." Imai said before glancing at the others. "The rest of you too. And Nico, you're as charming as ever."
"Shut up, why did you do it?" Luffy asked.
"Do what?" Imai replied in confusion. "Did I do something that infuriated you? This is the first time we've seen each other in a while."
"Why did you kill all those people?! That was unnecessary!" Luffy exclaimed.
Imai widened her eyes and smiled in amusement.
"It was necessary to display the difference in power. I am neither on the side of pirates nor marines, I am doing what I want for my own benefit, and doing what I believe is right." Imai said.
"Still, that doesn't mean you can just kill them." Luffy said.
"Is that your belief? To destroy the enemy by shattering their hopes yet not killing them? How naive can you be? If people are given the opportunity, they will take it. That is why, Luffy, you cannot give them any opportunity."
Luffy felt chills down his spine as the smile disappeared and was replaced by an indifferent expression. The vibe that Imai gave was now different, she was being her true self.
"Oi, although I respect you, my captain is my captain." Zoro said. "So what are your orders?"
"Defeat her."
"Get ready, my apostles, this is the last fight."
