Chapter 92: Suicide
When she was brought on board, Elena instantly came to her senses.
As the ship left the port, she felt a sinking in her heart.
Charlotte let go of her wrist, and Elena dropped to her knees on the deck, staring blankly at the island that was quickly disappearing into the distance.
For the first time in her life, she was leaving the island she had never set foot off, her home.
Plop, plop!
Tears as big as beads streamed uncontrollably from her eyes.
"Ah! Ahhh!"
Her cries were heart-wrenching, carrying the despair of someone who had lost everything.
Charlotte stood behind her silently, wanting to say something, but no words came to him.
He knew the truth. He had taken her from the only life she had known, forcing her to leave her home and family. What could he possibly say to make it better?
The best thing he could do now was stay quiet and let her process it in her own way.
Charlotte closed his eyes and stood silently.
The crew, who had been laughing and talking just moments before, turned their gazes elsewhere, respecting the girl's grief.
The ship grew eerily quiet, save for the soft sobbing of the broken-hearted girl.
The vessel sailed farther and farther away until the island faded from view. The vast, empty sea stretched out in all directions, with only the sound of Elena's muffled sobs breaking the silence.
---
Splash!
"Boss! My sister-in-law jumped into the sea again!"
Paul's panicked shout jolted Charlotte out of his thoughts as he lay on the rocking chair.
Charlotte's eyes snapped open.
"This woman again? That's the third time!"
He leaped off the boat without hesitation, diving into the sea below.
Underwater, Charlotte quickly spotted Elena sinking deeper and deeper, her eyes closed as if accepting her fate.
"Dammit!" Charlotte thought as he swam toward her.
He reached her in seconds, wrapping his arms around her struggling body and pulling her toward the surface.
Breaking through the waves, Charlotte gasped for air as Elena writhed in his arms, hitting him with weak fists.
"Let me go! Let me die! You've already ruined my life!" Elena screamed through her tears, hitting Charlotte repeatedly.
"Idiot! If you die, what about the baby in your belly?" Charlotte roared, holding her tightly but carefully to avoid harming the child.
Elena froze for a moment, her struggles faltering.
Charlotte continued swimming toward the ship while Elena stared at him with wide, tear-filled eyes.
Meanwhile, on the ship, Paul and Isaac watched the drama unfold from the edge of the deck.
"What do you think the boss did to her to make her want to kill herself, even while pregnant?" Paul asked Isaac, his voice filled with confusion.
"I'd guess the boss is too much of a flirt," Isaac replied with a helpless shrug.
Isaac didn't add the other part of his thoughts—that Charlotte, despite being an incredible swordsman and leader, had a tendency to be… unfaithful.
The women in Charlotte's life were countless, and despite his age and achievements, he was never satisfied.
Paul sighed and leaned against the railing.
"At least he's a good boss. Generous pay, fair treatment… but man, his love life is a mess," he muttered to himself.
---
Charlotte kicked off the water and flew back onto the deck, dripping wet and holding Elena in his arms.
"Boss!"
Paul and Isaac rushed over, but Charlotte ignored them.
Instead, he carried Elena straight to his cabin.
Once inside, Charlotte set Elena down on his bed, noting that her clothes were completely soaked.
Without hesitation, he tore off her wet clothes.
"Ah! You pervert!" Elena screamed, trying to cover herself with her hands.
Charlotte rolled his eyes. "Relax. You're soaked, and I don't want you getting sick."
He wrapped her in a blanket and tucked her into the bed, ignoring her protests.
Then he walked to the table, poured a cup of hot water, and brought it to her bedside.
"Here, drink this. It'll warm you up," he said, his tone firm but not unkind.
"Get out!" Elena screamed, burying herself under the blanket.
Charlotte sighed, setting the cup on the nightstand and retreating to the chair by the table.
Elena peeked out from under the blanket, glaring at him.
"Why won't you leave me alone?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Charlotte crossed his arms.
"Because I won't let you die. You're carrying my child, Elena. Like it or not, you're part of my life now."
Elena's eyes widened in shock, her mind racing.
"Asshole! Send me back! I don't want to be here! I don't want to be with you!" she shouted, tears streaming down her face again.
Charlotte shook his head.
"You can call me whatever you like, but you're mine. You became mine the moment we were together, and now you're carrying my child. You'll never escape me."
His voice was calm, but his words left no room for argument.
Elena stared at him, disbelief and anger etched across her face.
"You devil!" she screamed, her fists clutching the blanket tightly.
Charlotte smirked.
"Call me what you want, but you're stuck with me. And by the way… I have other women. Just thought you should know."
Elena's jaw dropped, her face turning red with rage and humiliation.
She grabbed the blanket and covered her head, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Woo… woo… woo!"
Charlotte sighed, leaning back in his chair.
This woman's going to be the death of me, he thought, but he couldn't deny the faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
