Chapter 90: Be My Woman
Charlotte stared intently at Elena.
"Come with me! Be my woman!"
Towering at 2.2 meters tall, Charlotte gazed down at Elena's curvy 1.7-meter figure with determination.
Elena let out a bitter laugh at his words.
"You expect me to be a pirate's woman?"
Charlotte frowned at her words, his expression hardening.
"You don't have the right to choose," he said, his voice firm and unyielding.
If he couldn't win her heart, he would take her with him regardless, believing that in time, she would come to love him.
Without another word, Charlotte grabbed Elena's wrist, ignoring her futile struggles.
"Let me go! Let me go, you bastard!"
Elena screamed, pounding her fists against his chest. To Charlotte, her strikes were as harmless as a feather, though her fists were soft and warm.
Paul and the others exchanged puzzled glances, their expressions a mix of curiosity and amusement.
What had they missed? What had happened earlier between Charlotte and Elena?
Unbothered by their stares, Charlotte turned to his crew while keeping a firm grip on Elena.
"Everything is done here! Let's go back—back to Beehive Island!"
To everyone's surprise, Charlotte scooped Elena up in a princess carry and led the way.
Paul and the rest snapped out of their shock and hurried after him.
"Paul, what do you think just happened between the boss and the witch?" Isaac asked, his tone filled with curiosity.
Paul glanced at him with a smirk.
"Isn't it obvious? This witch probably has some connection to the boss. Maybe she's why we came here in the first place. Who knows? She might even become the captain's wife one day. Don't do anything stupid," Paul whispered back.
Isaac looked confused.
"What do you mean?"
Paul sighed and gave him a look of exasperation.
"You've trained too much with your sword. It's making you slow."
Isaac frowned, clearly not understanding.
Paul shook his head and picked up his pace, leaving Isaac to trail behind, still puzzled.
As they passed through the village, many villagers who had just woken up stared in shock.
When they saw Charlotte carrying the High Priestess, their eyes widened in disbelief.
"What's going on?"
"The High Priestess! She's being kidnapped!"
A group of young men, wielding hoes and sickles, rushed forward to block Charlotte's path.
"Stop! Let go of the High Priestess!"
Before Charlotte could respond, Elena quickly shouted, "No! Stop! You're no match for him!"
But her warning fell on deaf ears.
"Put Elena down now!" one of the young men demanded, stepping forward with a determined glare.
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, amused by their bravery.
He released a faint wave of Conqueror's Haki, its red and green aura enveloping the young men.
"Ugh!"
"Ah!"
One by one, the young men collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"No!" Elena cried out, struggling in Charlotte's arms.
She thrashed violently, clawing at his chest and face.
"You monster! How could you do this to them?"
Charlotte sighed, grabbing her wrists to stop her flailing.
"Relax. They're not dead. They're just unconscious," he said calmly.
But the other villagers misunderstood, thinking Charlotte had killed the young men.
"Quick! Everyone, stop him! Save the High Priestess!"
Men, women, and even children grabbed whatever weapons they could find and charged at Charlotte.
Paul and the others instinctively drew their weapons, forming a defensive line around their captain.
Charlotte frowned at the sight of the angry mob.
With a single thought, he unleashed another wave of Conqueror's Haki, this time stronger and more precise.
"Ugh!"
"Ah!"
Hundreds of villagers fell to the ground like dominos, their makeshift weapons clattering beside them.
Paul and the crew were left speechless, swallowing nervously as they felt the overwhelming power of Charlotte's Haki.
"That's… terrifying," Isaac muttered under his breath.
Even Charlotte himself felt the change in his Haki. The red and green hues, along with the faint sense of madness, were new and unsettling.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on it.
Carrying the now-silent Elena, Charlotte walked past the unconscious villagers and out of the village.
"You… you devil!" Elena finally managed to say, her voice trembling with anger and fear.
"Yes, I'm a devil," Charlotte said with a smirk. "And if you resist, your entire village will pay the price."
Elena froze at his words, her body stiffening in his arms.
Charlotte chuckled at her reaction.
"Hahahaha! Don't look so scared. I don't kill without reason," he said, his tone teasing.
Ignoring her glare, Charlotte continued walking toward the port.
The dense jungle slowed their progress, but it wasn't much of a challenge for Charlotte and his crew.
When they finally reached the small town near the port, Charlotte stopped in his tracks.
The streets were filled with navy soldiers, helping fainted civilians and maintaining order.
"What's going on?" Charlotte muttered, his eyes narrowing.
As soon as the navy spotted the armed group, they raised their weapons.
"Who goes there?"
Charlotte's crew instinctively reached for their swords, the tension in the air thickening.
The soldiers noticed Elena in Charlotte's arms, her tear-streaked face and disheveled appearance making her look like a victim.
"You there! Put the woman down and surrender!" one of the navy officers barked.
Charlotte smirked, his hand casually resting on the hilt of his sword.
"Surrender? You don't know who you're dealing with."
The tension escalated, both sides ready for a fight.
