Lucas arrived at Bella's house in the early evening, carrying a bouquet of bright daisies. The house smelled of fresh cookies, and Rachel sat at the floor, engrossed in her coloring book. When she heard the door open, her head shot up, and her face broke into a wide grin.
"Mr. Handsome!" she exclaimed, hopping down from her chair and running to greet him.
He crouched down, holding out the bouquet. "These are for you, Miss Rachel," he said with a playful bow.
Rachel giggled, accepting the flowers with both hands. "For me?" she asked, her eyes sparkling.
"Of course," Lucas replied. "I thought you deserved something special today."
"It's like the princess story mumma told me. Are you a prince?" She asked. Her mouth opened with her own logic. He laughed at her silly question, "No I'm not a prince, but you are definitely the princess."
Bella stood at the doorway, watching the interaction with a small smile. Lucas had a way of connecting with Rachel that warmed her heart.
"Mommy, look!" Rachel said, running to show Bella the bouquet. "Aren't they pretty?"
"They're beautiful, sweetheart," Bella said, ruffling her daughter's hair. She glanced at Lucas. "Thank you. That was thoughtful." Lucas shrugged, his smile modest. "I figured flowers are always a good idea."
The dinner went well with some little talk. The dinner was something he look forward for each day. He just love her cooking so much, that now he is even considering joining them for breakfast sometime.
After dinner, Rachel pulled Lucas to the living room, holding up a puzzle box. "Will you play with me?"
Lucas hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Of course. But I have to warn you.....I'm terrible at puzzles." Rachel giggled. "That's okay! I'm really good at them."
As they worked on the puzzle, Bella watched from the kitchen, her heart swelling. Lucas wasn't just playing with Rachel—he was genuinely engaged, asking her questions and laughing at her stories. He really treats her like a princess everytime. Bella knew she couldn't ask for a better father than him for both of her babies.
"You're really smart, Rachel," Lucas said as she fit another piece into place. "I know," Rachel said matter-of-factly, making them both laugh.
By the time the puzzle was complete, Rachel was yawning. "Okay, it's bedtime for you," Bella said, scooping her up. "Will Lucas be here tomorrow?" Rachel asked, looking at him with sleepy eyes.
Lucas smiled. "If your mom doesn't mind, I'd love to come back." Bella felt her cheeks warm under his gaze. He always look at her with so much gentleness in his eyes. "We'll see," she said softly, carrying Rachel to her room.
When Bella returned, Lucas was sitting on the couch, looking thoughtful. "She's incredible," he said. "You've done an amazing job raising her."
"Thank you," she replied, sitting beside him. Bella knew she may not provide her daughter with a luxury life but she raised her with so much love and care. "She's my world."
"And it shows," Lucas said. "I think... I think I'd like to be a part of that world. The world which has you, this baby and Rachel"
His words hung in the air, and for a moment, Bella couldn't respond. But deep down, she knew that Lucas wasn't just saying it....he truly meant it. He meant it everytime he says that he is with her.
